My first encounter with a mouse deer. They are the smallest hoofed mammals on the planet and only weigh up to 8 kg! Their size is similar to a hare...super lucky to get a glimpse of it!

A mother mouse panics as we disturb her and her babies getting the dock boards off the stack so we can put it in the water. In the end she and the kids went under the shed.

Thank you all very much for your faves, they are much appreciated
This Wood Mouse lives in my yard, he's evaded the neighborhood predators all year and I find him getting a belly full of seed from the tall grass often in these late summer days. The grass is over 7 ft tall. Wood mice are great climbers, and weigh about 20 grams. Tail and all they are about 3.5 inches long. My neighborhood predators include snakes, owls, hawks, cats, and roadrunners. Pretty savvy little creature!
My youngest cat June brought in this little mouse and deposited it in my bedroom. I was able to capture it...only to get bitten really hard on the finger ....that's the thanks I got for saving it from certain death. Here's a pix of it just before letting it go in the front yard.
I have owned this little mouse brooch since childhood, which makes it almost sixty years old. I haven't kept much from that time but for some reason I've hung on to this piece.

I was in a hide the other week and kept hearing a rustling behind me. I turned round a few times but didn't see anything. When I turned around for about the fourth time, there was this little mouse head poking around the corner of the door which quickly disappeared under one of the floorboards. Having heard the rustling a few times I thought it might return so I swapped lenses and lay on the floor. Soon enough a little head popped up between the floorboards and scurried off to find food just outside of the hide
"The Mousetrap is a murder mystery play by Agatha Christie. The play opened in London's West End in 1952 and ran continuously until 16 March 2020, when the stage performances had to be temporarily discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic. It then re-opened on 17 May 2021."
"Mouse Trap is also a board game, a long-time family favourite which is always good for zany action and lots of laughs. Scurry around the board collecting cheese and stealing cheese from other players but watch out for the trap!"
Found on our walk around the wetlands. It froze and didn't run away when I got up close with my phone camera.
I was gardening today when the Red Wattlebird flushed a very large Rat out of my Camellia bushes. It ran along the fence crosspieces and dashed under to the neighbours
Eurasian Harvest Mouse / micromys minutus. (Captive bred) Derbyshire. 23/05/15.
'REVEALING A DARKER SIDE'.
At a photography workshop three years ago, working with captive bred Harvest Mice, I can remember being very surprised by the intense colour of their underfur. I discovered that beneath the bright, gingery-brown guard hairs lies a dense black fur.
The Harvest Mouse pictured was happily clambering around some dead plant stems. It frequently passed thin projections that dug into it, causing the guard hairs to become dishevelled and out of place. This is exactly what had happened when I made the image, thus revealing the area of sooty black underfur.
BEST VIEWED LARGE.
Well, not really attack.
The light was not great in this shot but it's been a long time since Mouse appeared on my stream so I brought my camera when I went over to visit Mad and Mouse this afternoon.
There's a lot of grain but that's okay, you can still see how cute Mouse is.
Hope everyone has had a good day.

I made 3 dozen Mickey Mouse cookies and 3 dozen cupcakes for a birthday party for my neighbors daughter. I was happy with the way they turned out and they were fun to make.

A lone mouse made a dangerous trek across the surface of the snow drifts. There are many eyes in this forest just looking for a little meal like this.
There was a break in the rain this morning so I downed tools and took a break from deck rebuilding to visit the kites. After a few days of rain and squalls I figured they'd be very actively hunting. Sure enough, a few mice met their end in the short time I was there. The porridge sky is not pretty ... but who cares, it was good to be out. The translucent effect on those scalloped feathers looks nice.

She may be little but dont let that fool you.
Mighty Mouse does not know her own size. In fact in her head she is a great dane amongst dogs :)
Thrift store dollhouse after a makeover for the mice. The interior still needs trim and the floors attached. I wanted to move them in for Christmas and they don't care about trim as long as they have lots of food and a warm place to be together.
