Oregon - April 2017

It was a very smokey day in Banff when I took this photo of Mount Rundle from Vermilion lakes just outside of the town of Banff, Alberta, Canada. I hate the thought of forest fires near this area, but the smoke diffused the light giving some unique and different views.

The cloud formations above Mount Ruapehu were fascinating to watch as they continually changed across the peaks and above the mountain.

Mount Cristallo (Dolomites) 20210922

The Cristallo group is one of the major mountain groups in the Dolomites of northern Italy. It is known among outdoor enthusiasts for two main reasons: The Misurina Lake (one of the most beautiful in the region) and Ponte Cristallo, which is the longest suspension bridge in the area. The highest and the most prominent peak out of the 25 named mountains in the Gruppo del Cristallo is Monte Cristallo (3,221 m).

Mount Warning is a mountain in the Tweed Range in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia.

Mount Warning is the central volcanic remnant of an ancient shield volcano, the Tweed Volcano, which would have been about 1,900 m (6,200 ft) above sea level or just under twice the height of the current mountain. This volcano last erupted around 23 million years ago.

For a sense of scale on the lower RH side of the image a road can be seen and the small white dots are vehicles.

A gusty wind blowing across the plateau so hence why the slightly higher ISO and shutter speed to eliminate any long lens vibration.

An image captured from the National Park side of the mountain. I had seen the volcanic colours that were visible on the outside as well as the inside of the cone from this viewpoint. It's nice to see the volcanic crater colours as with winter approaching, this will soon be covered in snow. There was a good safe place to park the car and enjoy the view!

Mount Ngauruhoe (Māori: Ngāuruhoe) is a volcanic cone in New Zealand. It is the youngest vent in the Tongariro stratovolcano complex on the Central Plateau of the North Island and first erupted about 2,500 years ago. Although often regarded as a separate mountain, geologically, it is a secondary cone of Mount Tongariro.

The volcano lies between the active volcanoes of Mount Tongariro to the north and Mount Ruapehu to the south, to the west of the Rangipo Desert and 25 kilometres to the south of the southern shore of Lake Taupō.
