What is ‘Community’ to you?

Do you ever strive to be a part of something bigger? Do you ever want to find other people to celebrate with who have similar tastes as you in entertainment? Do you just want to find a community to be a part of that makes you feel like you are at home?

If so, you aren’t as different as you feel or as people claim you are. Over the past several years, community conventions have grown in size as well as variety. There is a home for anime lovers, NEETs, video game enthusiasts, artists, comic book buffs, furries, reptilians, roboticists; you name it, and there is most likely a group or a convention that has people gathering to discuss hobbies and lifestyle choices.

Just remember, you are not alone in this world, and the internet is capable of uniting us all.

Local Conventions:

Here is a list of some of the conventions that are taking place today! If you are busy while it is taking place, you can always keep an eye on their main website to see when it is being held again in the future.

OBB for Balitang Middle East, a weekly news program on TFC (The Filipino Channel) for overseas Filipino workers in the Middle East (with replays on ANC on Sundays). Client wanted a red-green-yellow color scheme (eewww). Here's what I came up with using said color scheme.

I spent around two days rotoscoping all those friggin' correspondents (they have around 20). But props to the cameraman (cameramen?) for the great footage.

New York based Production Company Flicker Flacker Films approached Rushes MGFX Studio to design and create ‘in scene’ HUD elements for a high-end corporate video they were producing. Having seen our Iron Man/HUD test online, our style hit their brief and we began working together, creating worked up scenes for them to slot into their edit.

The overall idea was to create interactive head up display elements that would reflect and represent the software that the film was showcasing. Working closely with the guys at Flicker Flacker allowed the project to evolve as it went along, refining sections and adapting elements as the project progressed. Using the time difference to our advantage meant we could generate elements during the day UK time, for upload and review overnight, keeping the workflow smooth and efficient.

“Design wise, the project was a nice mix of content creation and client element implementation, so we had a sound cohesive base with the software elements they provided, but could embellish them with our own designs” Brad Le Riche says, “The most challenging part of the job was trying to make the graphics seem cohesive with the scene, making them work with the main protagonists’ movements.”

The end result was a very clean looking, sophisticated corporate video, that nicely married the clients software elements with a clean holographic interface creating the futuristic look that Flicker Flacker were keen to achieve.

“This is our third data graphic driven sequence, we seem to be carving a nice reputation for this kind of work, and one we are all keen to kindle. Every designer loves creating smart slick data graphics, and we have had the chance to some beautiful work on this project with a very supportive client.

it's an end tag animation story board for the Tazo Tea company. Their history is based around a lot of concepts like reincarnation and the wheel of fortune therefore I depicted the dregs in the tea forming the word 'Tazo' in the tree that shed, died and re-formed (reincarnated) to become the Tazo Tea logo.

A mashup of Arthur C. Clarke's 2001 and 2010 mixed in the with part of the opening sequence of "Do the evolution" by Pearl Jam.

There are several real video plates being used here for things they weren't necessarily meant for, but I thought the result was pretty cool.

finally is done , after several months of work!

tractor is a project in collaboration withe bruno dias

description about TRACTOR

The Tractor name comes from the usually used term for agricultural machines. The visual object on the screen is representative of the axis of a tractor engine. The center of the engine axis. The audiovisual narrative in place characterizes the behavior cycle of Tractor which can be metaphorically compared to the behavior of a Wasp, thus assuming it's organic and non-linear changes in speed, rotation and movement. This non-linear behavior is shown by the visual deformations that Tractor assumes along the 3:30 minutes. The sound is being used to drive the narrative. It's not only representative of what is visually happening in scene but also suggestive of what is happening inside Tractor, in areas that are not visually "open" to the viewer such as the central cylinder of the object (or the Wasps heart). I t progresses from an atmospheric sound scape that sets the "mood" in first part of the visual piece to a second moment where the extreme sync takes place representing what is visually going on. The extreme contrast between different shapes and forms reveals what Tractor is in it's essence: a spatial and temporal distortion machine.

(August 2009) For this project we chose the human heart as a guiding theme, that and the black, white and red colour scheme were the only limitations we set for ourselves. We then each went our separate ways to create the content of this piece. We came back together a week later to mash it all together into the chaotic eye candy you see before you. Encompassing a wide range of styles and techniques ranging from hand drawn to complex particle systems, Tales from the Heart is a wild ride through the body, the gutter and the cosmos.

My take on that 1980s favorite: Rubik's Cube...even with Huey Lewis and the News as the soundtrack!

With each and every post, we strive here at Creative Tempest to bring you only the best artists from around the world. This post comes to you from the great American state of New York, with our artist being none other than internationally known Creative Director, Gui Borchert. Chances are, if you’ve picked up a magazine in the passed few years, you’ve seen some of his ads for big names such as Coke, Dell, Nike and Puma. Gui has an incredible credentials list that includes speaking in conferences around the world, judging international competitions, having his work showcased at art galleries in places like Brazil and New York City, being internationally published in books and magazines, and winning a ton of awards just to top it all off. We’re happy to post such talent and vision here on Creative Tempest and hope you will share the same appreciation for great artwork that we do. Find out more info at www.creativetempest.com
