Bluetit on takeoff

A bit of fun with the "motion" concept.

hard to get a good pic of a bluebird in flight. they have this amazing purple color that seems to manifest only when they're flying.

A couple of weeks ago I received an invitation from the Toronto Beaches Jazz Fest to submit some of my past photos from their event to be considered for a retrospective photography display that will be part of this year's festival. All 3 of my photos were accepted. In order to have your photos displayed you must get them framed and deliver them in person to the event organizer. So as you can see they are now framed and I will be going for a road trip later today to deliver them. I'm not sure how much of an honour this is as its costing me money to do this instead of getting paid for it! Hopefully I can include my business card with the photos and maybe sell them or get some other work out of it...

The Beaches Jazz Fest started a page on flickr for all the accepted entries and my 3 photos are in their own set here: www.flickr.com/photos/beachesjazz_jazzinmotion/sets/72157...

Expression through Body Motion - from walking in nature to select a friend, sketching and transferring onto large paper, drawing via contour lines with the body, then through dance and seeing the shape of their friend in fabric. Two day workshop amazing time despite the rain and bundled with a delicious vegan spaghetti lunch!

1/10th of a second, hand held at 70mm. Even with VC, I had the slightest camera shake blur in the raw photo, but with just a touch of shake reduction in photoshop I really was able to manage the sharpness quite well I think.

Outside the technical stuff, I was really happy with the motion I captured, which is a bit out of my usual range.
