Mono conversion of HDR! I think this is a little more powerful! But I would be interested in what others think! On balance I think the colour is more interesting.

Smokiness in the mountains is probably due to wildfires, maybe the Rim Fire:

This guy attacked my wife's daypack during a hike in Cahuita N.P. and he was really annoyed when I took him off (before taking this picture ;-)
A Peaky Blinders day held at Chasewater Railway on Feb 27th 2022. A good setting for the shoot, but totally blazing sunlight with masses of contrast, so better for a mono shoot with conditions like that. Nikon D850 with Nikon 24-70 F2.8 and Nikon 70-200 F2.8
Climbing out of Mono Lake on the way to Bodie. A single tree isolated on a hill, taken with 100-400mm using a 2x extender.

Mono Lake (/ˈmoʊnoʊ/ MOH-noh) is a large, shallow saline soda lake in Mono County, California, formed at least 760,000 years ago as a terminal lake in an endorheic basin. The lack of an outlet causes high levels of salts to accumulate in the lake. These salts also make the lake water alkaline.
This desert lake has an unusually productive ecosystem based on brine shrimp that thrive in its waters, and provides critical habitat for two million annual migratory birds that feed on the shrimp and alkali flies. Historically, the native Kutzadika'a people derived nutrition from the Ephydra hians pupae, which live in the shallow waters around the edge of the lake.
When the city of Los Angeles diverted water from the freshwater streams flowing into the lake, it lowered the lake level, which imperiled the migratory birds.

This was actually an almost identical image to my "Frozen Pond" from last week. It was a flat, kinda boring, shot in colour so I decided to go Mono on it. Think it worked well, but was somewhat worried that I might have "pulled too hard" on everything...but in the end I "landed" on this result.
Two exp manually blended in colour. Almost all post work done in colour.

Hope you like it. I am still not 100% comfortable with my Monochrome conversions, so please tell me how I could have made this better?
Cheers
