Cllrs Claire Kober (Leader of Haringey Council) and Alan Strickland (Cabinet Member for Housing, Regeneration and Planning) have once again brought our fine Local Authority into disrepute.

Here’s the evidence, from the Rotten Boroughs column of the latest Private Eye.

Sadly and painfully it is well-deserved disrepute, at this time.

Let's unite to stop the proposed Haringey Development Vehicle (a joint venture with the developer LendLease).

No to social cleansing! Together, we can win!

Let's stop the targeted demolition of really-affordable Council and housing association dwellings, all around London.

People say that money talks,

but mine just waves goodbye.

I cash my check. I pay my bills

then bow my head and cry.

Live at Donington is the DVD recording of the AC/DC show at Donington Park on 17 August 1991, and it was the band's third "Monsters of Rock" festival. The two hour show was performed before 72,500 spectators and included real cannons, the Hells Bell, an inflatable Rosie and an inflatable Angus. It was filmed in 35 mm Panavision and had 26 cameras that included one situated inside a helicopter. The DVD includes special features such as stereo and 5.1 surround sound, Iso-cam versions of certain songs for different band members, and audio commentary from Angus and Malcolm Young. Bonus features include audio commentary by Angus and Malcolm Young. Another option allows the viewer to focus on just one member for the length of a song. This option is available for Angus on "Thunderstruck", "Back in Black", and "Highway to Hell". The option is offered for Malcolm on "T.N.T.", Brian on "Whole Lotta Rosie" and Cliff on "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap". One other feature is a full catalogue discography with audio interview of all international albums.

An edit of a photo I took months ago as part of the yearbook photo shoot I did.

A much better edit than the original version!

On May 21, Mike and I drove to St. Petersburg for dinner and drinks at Hofbräuhaus. Afterward, we took a stroll along Beach Drive NE, near St. Pete's downtown waterfront. Along the way, we passed a series of whimsical animal sculptures, including this bronze elephant wearing square-wheeled roller skates. The work is titled ''Money Talks'' and was created by Mike Elwell; it is currently displayed outside Kilwins chocolate/fudge/ice cream shop (222 Beach Dr. NE).

A few details from Elwell's website:

Artist Statement

Animals with off-beat, eccentric personalities are the stars of my current large scale, one-of-a-kind bronzes. My series of bench sculptures in St. Petersburg invite all who pass by to share a seat and take photos with a life-sized alligator woman wearing alligator shoes and an armadillo purse, or a bronze pelican in a pink flamingo shirt, or an elephant wearing roller skates with square wheels. These realistic, highly detailed pieces are brought to life with multicolored patinas.

I want my sculptures to say, ''Don't take life too seriously.'' I'm happy if I can help people find a little levity in life. My greatest reward is seeing these whimsical caricatures bring smiles and laughter to adults and children alike.
