The Abbey of St. Jean des Vignes was a monastery of Augustinian canons in Soissons, France, southwest of the city center. Only ruins remain, of which the west facade remains one of the more outstanding examples of architecture in the town. It is a listed historic monument.
The abbey was founded on St. John's hill in 1076 by Hughes Le Blanc as a community of Augustinian canons.
Initially built in Romanesque style, the initial buildings were replaced at the end of the 12th century by those extant today. The west facade was begun in the 12th century, but not finished until the 16th. The refectory and cellar date from the 13th century, parts of the cloisters from the end of the 13th century, while other parts are from the 16th century, as is the abbot's lodging.
When the abbey was suppressed during the French Revolution the premises were put to use for military purposes, and an arsenal was added.
The site was acquired by the town of Soissons in the 1970s and the remaining buildings are now occupied by educational and heritage-related organizations.
The church ruin of the Holy Grave, also known as the Schöntal ruin, is the ruin of the Beguine Monastery church, which was built between 1543 and 1545 and burned down in 1552. This was built by Archbishop Albrecht von Brandenburg around 1500 in the "Tiergarten zu Aschaffenburg". In 1540 he made his partner Agnes Pless his abbess. Already in the Schmalkaldic War in 1546 and a few years later in the Second Margrave War in 1552, the building was largely destroyed. With the dissolution of the Beguine Convent, the Aschaffenburg Church of the Holy Sepulcher was left to decay. Since the church building only stood for a short time, the presence of the beguines in Aschaffenburg's local history has only been handed down in the zoo. The ruins were later included in the park design.

Geghard Monastery (Ayrivank), Armenian Apostolic church. The monastery complex was founded in the 4th century by Gregory the Illuminator at the site of a sacred spring inside a cave. The monastery had thus been originally named Ayrivank, meaning "the Monastery of the Cave". The name commonly used for the monastery today, Geghard, or more fully Geghardavank, meaning "the Monastery of the Spear", originates from the spear which had wounded Jesus at the Crucifixion, allegedly brought to Armenia by Apostle Jude, called here Thaddeus, and stored amongst many other relics. Now it is displayed in the Echmiadzin treasury.
The former medieval fortress was rebuilt by the Benedictine monks in the 13th century, when the land ownership was confirmed to them by King Ottokar II. The monastery gradually became a centre of cultural and religious life of the Broumov region and after a conflagration in the 17th century it was rebuilt in the baroque style by Christoph and Kilian Ignaz Dientzenhofers. After a sad period in the second half of the 20th century, when the monastery served as an internment camp for monks and nuns, the monastery has, since 2007, once again become the centre of local cultural life; while in 2014 a part of the monastery and the monastic garden underwent extensive reconstruction work.
The Saint Ignatios Monastery is found outside the city of Kalloni on the island of Lesbos, Greece, and is also known as the Limonas Monastery or the Limonos Monastery (alternative spelling), due to the field on which it is built. The monastery was founded in 1526 by Saint Ignatios Agallianos.
The monastery contains many important relics collected since its founding, and houses a library which contains many manuscripts and icons. It now has over 2,500 volumes of books and 450 manuscripts and Greek and Ottoman documents.

The Putna monastery (Romanian: Mănăstirea Putna) is a Romanian Orthodox monastery, one of the most important cultural, religious and artistic centers established in medieval Moldavia; as with many others, it was built and dedicated by Prince Stephen the Great.
Right after Stephen the Great won the battle in which he conquered the Kilia citadel, he began work on the monastery as a means to give thanks to God, on July 10, 1466 - the church was to be dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

The Cliff walk, also known as "Monastery Walk", around Ardmore Head is one of the most beautiful loop walks in County Waterford. There´s lots to see along the way, so let me take you on a little photographic excursion along this scenic hike.
Ardmore in County Waterford is believed to be one of the oldest monasteries in Ireland. Saint Declan converted the people of the Decies an ancient principality of southern Ireland, to Christianity about 400 AD.
We started the cliff walk at Ardmore Cliff Hotel
Saint Declan's Well and Hermitage is situated a little way up the cliff walk, next to the sea, overlooking the beach and Ardmore Bay. It was used to baptize the Christian missionaries. Declan also built himself a monk´s cell next to the Holy Well to retreat into seclusion.
This is a very special place it feels like hallowed ground and it's breathtaking beautiful. :-)

“Humans! They lived in a world where the grass continued to be green and the sun rose every day and flowers regularly turned into fruit, and what impressed them? Weeping statues. And wine made out of water! A mere quantum-mechanistic tunnel effect, that'd happen anyway if you were prepared to wait zillions of years. As if the turning of sunlight into wine, by means of vines and grapes and time and enzymes, wasn't a thousand times more impressive and happened all the time...”

Alaverdi Monastery (Georgian: ალავერდის მონასტერი) is a Georgian Eastern Orthodox monastery located 25 km from Akhmeta, in the Kakheti region of Eastern Georgia. While parts of the monastery date back to 6th century, the present day cathedral was built in the 11th century by Kvirike III of Kakheti, replacing an older church of St. George.
The monastery was founded by the Assyrian monk Joseph (Yoseb, Amba) Alaverdeli, who came from Antioch and settled in Alaverdi, then a small village and former pagan religious center dedicated to the Moon. At a height of over 55 meters, Alaverdi Cathedral is the second tallest religious building in Georgia, after Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi, which was consecrated in 2004. Its overall size is also smaller than the cathedral of Svetitskhoveli in Mtskheta. The monastery is the focus of the annual religious celebration Alaverdoba. Situated in the heart of the world's oldest wine region, the monks also make their own wine, known as Alaverdi Monastery Cellar. [source: wikipedia.com]
