Sooo, this is the first photo of my new project!

I'll try to recreate some paintings and make them come to life.

Aha I'm very excited about it :)

Modigliani depicted his mistress, Jeanne Hebuterne ( 1898-1920), in more than twenty works but never in the nude. Her casual white chemise suggests modesty while also hiding her pregnancy. When Modigliani died from tuberculosis in 1920, Jeanne committed suicide the following day.

Modigliani - Chaim Soutine, 1917 - Detail

It was there in the spring of 1917 that Jeanne Hébuterne was introduced to Amedeo Modigliani Jeanne Hebuterne by Amedeo Modigliani by the sculptor Chana Orloff (1888–1968) who came with many other artists to take advantage of the Academy's live models. Jeanne soon began an affair with the charismatic artist, and the two fell deeply in love. She soon moved in with him, despite strong objection from her deeply Catholic parents.

"Modigliani's Trout" was commissioned by the Youth Hostel Association in 1995, and was painted by Finnish artist Sirpa Alalääkkölä'.

After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki - where she was influenced by Expressionist painters such as Picasso and Modigliani - Sirpa was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to attend the Tisch School of Arts in New York.

After several well-received exhibitions in Finland, she travelled abroad, painting in the Pacific Islands, India and Australia and settled in New Zealand in 1993.

=====

Sirpa used the style of famous Italian artist Amedeo Clemente Modigliani [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amedeo_Modigliani], who was primarily a figurative artist and modernist known for his use of mask-like faces and elongation of form.

The fisherman in the image is wearing a Swanndri, an iconic boldly-checked woollen shirt much favoured by NZ farmers and trampers. The fishing scene, landing the plump trout, is a traditional NZ dream.
