Following my previous post this picture continues along my line of trying to push the strict tenants of the New Topographics movement to maintain objectivity, but add vitality.

And just douse it with natural color.

A deliberately planned photo made to appear casually executed.

It was culture day in our village today. This is one of my favorite of many images I took. I am impressed by the way some people are working to keep the traditional skills alive.

No this isn’t 1957, it’s 2021 at the Illinois Railway Museum and the newly restored Electroliner is posing next to the newly restored “L” station.

I highly recommend viewing this Large On Black.

Colourful and of various and original forms, the Sardinian traditional clothes are a clear symbol of belonging to specific collective identities. Although the basic model is homogeneous and common throughout the island, each town or village has its own traditional clothing which differentiates it from the others.

When modernity, the city and life are involved, anything can happen, even the most surprising images in the end.

Not only that but also with god-like knowledge, we can now tap into the building blocks of life. We can combine animal and plant, make a plant part starfish. That has the benefit of making it impervious to specific diseases and insects. We call that a genetically modified organism or GMO.

A Roma, nel cuore dello storico quartiere Prati, famoso per i suoi palazzi umbertini, sorge questo insospettabile edificio moderno con alla base un attrezzatissimo mercato ortofrutticolo.

This week's theme for Mosaic Montage Monday was Modernity. Looks like they are still building it here! HMMM!

With each passing day, more and more new tier 4 gevos are being delivered to CPKeithCreel so it becomes increasingly hard to not get surprised by one while trackside. Sure, the candy apple red looks nice and they're only clean once, but I'll be rejecting the company name "CPKC" until the cows come home. I give it under 5 years until the headquarters of the company shift to Kansas City from Calgary as they continue to stray away from their Canadian roots.

Welcome to Boston, a city where history and modernity blend seamlessly. This panoramic view of Boston’s skyline captures the essence of a city that has played a pivotal role in American history while embracing contemporary growth. As you gaze upon the skyline, you’ll notice a harmonious mix of architectural styles that tell the story of Boston’s evolution.

The historic charm of Boston is evident in its neoclassical buildings, which stand proudly alongside sleek, modern high-rises. The Gothic spires and glass facades create a visual symphony that reflects the city’s rich past and innovative future. Notable landmarks such as the Prudential Tower and the John Hancock Tower dominate the skyline, symbolizing Boston’s economic prowess and architectural ingenuity.

In the foreground, industrial elements and satellite dishes highlight Boston’s role as a hub of technological advancement and global connectivity. This juxtaposition of old and new is what makes Boston a unique destination for history buffs, architecture enthusiasts, and tech professionals alike.

Walking through Boston’s streets is like stepping back in time while being firmly rooted in the present. The cobblestone paths and historic buildings tell tales of the American Revolution, while the modern infrastructure speaks to the city’s forward-thinking spirit. The contrast of the old and the new in Derby's Friargate area, is what attracted me to this subject. New developments, mainly connected to the expansion of the University of Derby, provide this interplay between architectural periods. The Uni's Law School is the backdrop to this group of Georgian terraced townhouses.

This black and white photograph captures a striking juxtaposition in Piazza San Carlo, Turin. The equestrian statue of Emanuele Filiberto, Duke of Savoy, stands in the foreground, while a large advertising billboard forms the backdrop. The billboard features a Lavazza coffee ad, complete with whimsical elements like mice and a steaming cup of coffee, creating a contrast between the historical monument and contemporary commercial imagery. The combination highlights the blend of tradition and modernity in the city.
