Nogent a vu de nombreuses batailles, dont celle sous Napoléon qui opposa 1000 grognards à 20000 Autrichiens, et a été souvent détruite ou incendiée.

Where everything is fluid, transitory and without reference, everything "depends on context" and the solid bases to support us are no longer found. In order not to drown, one must learn to discern. Or we'll follow the fate of Sisyphus until the death of everything that exists.

Dale Church in Luster, Norway, was originally built almost 800 years ago. The architecture is a mix of Romanesque and Gothic style. Among other things, it has frescoes dating from the 15th century. It was not mentioned as a must-see in the tourist guidebooks, but we are very glad we did see it, with some fine examples of craftsmanship like this window and side entrance door. Something modernity cannot imitate.
Kloosterkazerne (barracks), Breda, The Netherlands.
The current building has been restored in 2003, but the looks date from a modification in 1846. The complex started as a cloister in 1308.
The doors are painful details.
In modernity we are in a hurry to go and arrive and we no longer stop to observe the shadows that slowly stretch out on the road.
