Built in 1946-1947, this Art Moderne-style building was originally known as the Strand Theatre, and housed an auditorium with 400 seats. The theater operated under the Strand name until 1962, when it was renamed the Fine Arts Theatre. The building is clad in stucco with two tall outer bays on the front facade filled with glass block, decorative ribs below a stepped parapet at the central bay of the front facade, casement windows in the rectilinear bays at the center of the front facade, a marquee over the main entrance, and a main entrance door flanked by poster cases and a ticket booth. The building is a contributing structure in the Downtown Asheville Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979, and adjusted to its present size in 2011. The building was renovated in the 1990s under the direction of Samsel Architects, now Altura Architects, and today houses two auditoriums that are used to screen movies and live performances.
'Moderne keuken' in kookboek uit 1959.
Leuk om in een kast terug te vinden, zo'n kookboek over de datum! Ik denk dat ik het boek ooit op een rommelmarkt heb gekocht.

Built circa 1937 in the Streamline Moderne style, the former Coca-Cola Bottling Plant on Dana Avenue in Cincinnati's Evanston neighborhood was designed by John Henri Deeken. In more recent decades, following the closure of the bottling plant, the building was purchased by Xavier University, due to the close proximity to the university's main campus, and was adaptively reused as the Xavier University Alumni Center. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
