Architecture – Modern

This is a fifth series of buildings (some as photographed), glass panels, abstract shapes formed from buildings. Most are in London, although they could be any city. I have not named any building, nor have attempted to find Architects or Designers. I have just altered things to my own taste, nothing is sacrosanct, nothing lasts for ever, new ideas quickly become old as will these images be the moment I post them. Please enjoy.

Das Bauhaus is designed by Walter Wolff as a Women’s Clinic. It is going to be converted into new residences, galleries and designoriented shops by David Chipperfield.

Modern Architecture, Mercedes House, New York City

This impressive skyscraper rises majestically into the sky, reflecting passing clouds on its gleaming glass facade. The architectural elegance and symmetrical lines of the building convey a sense of modernity and grandeur. The high-contrast black-and-white tones highlight the reflections, adding a dramatic, almost futuristic atmosphere to the image.

Built in 1972, architect William Pereria.

Informally known as "The Vase".

Soon to be completed the latest skyscraper on the London skyline.

At 50 stories high, One Blackfriars is London's tallest residential tower.

The 170-metre high tower, with 274 apartments and a boutique hotel with more than 160 bedrooms, is situated on the South Bank. The building was designed by award-winning SimpsonHaugh Architects.

This is a second series of buildings (some as photographed), glass panels, abstract shapes formed from buildings. Most are in London, although they could be any city. I have not named any building, nor have attempted to find Architects or Designers. I have just altered things to my own taste, nothing is sacrosanct, nothing lasts for ever, new ideas quickly become old as will these images be the moment I post them. Please enjoy.

The first of 3 shots during a quick study of Calatrava's Montjuïc communications tower in Barcelona. The shots were taken during a trip to Barcelona en route to Valencia back in November 2015. Early morning run up here to scout (not realising there's such a steep hill to get to it - good work out though).

With some time off recently I've finally taken to the 21st century and signed up to Instagram. You can find me here: www.instagram.com/gilesmcgarry/ - I'm going to try and post different shots there - so far there very much detailed abstract shots.

The San Diego Central Library was designed by San Diego architect Rob Wellington Quigley. Characterized by the Iconic lattice dome, the library opened in downtown San Diego in 2013. This building is unique and instantly recognizable among buildings; Is it a hat? An umbrella? However you interpret the steel-and-mesh lattice dome topping it, the city’s flagship library is unique, modern, attractive, and distinctive. The nine-story steel and concrete structure is considered a masterpiece in concrete construction. The interior is no less impressive. The massive central space is defined by a gigantic arch, and floating stairway.
