Sovereign House (permanently closed)

After an year not very easy, this long month away from home, I really wanted it! :)

I carry with me a large baggage of emotions and memories linked to every place I visited...Rotterdam, and its spectacular modern architecture stole my heart the genius of the architects and the huge heat weather I didn't expect to find in Holland! :D

Singapore has a sensibly regulated free market economy, combined with political stability and certainty based on the rule of law. A laser sharp focus on quality education has produced an industrious and well educated work force. Singapore is probably the only country in that has graduated from being a Third World Country to a First World one within a single generation.

These attributes have attracted many international investors that have turned Singapore into a powerhouse for global business and finance.

Several leading multinational corporations have established their regional headquarters in Singapore, and announce their presence in the form of competing skyscrapers that rival any skyline found in the leading countries of the world.

The pavilion of EXPO 2008 takes the form of a typical Aragonese wicker basket achieved by intertwined panels of glass and micro-concrete with white glass fibre, providing the interior with a large quantity of natural light. This weave is opaque in the base, becoming more transparent as the building gets higher.

Ce tissage est opaque dans la base, devenant plus transparent à mesure que le bâtiment monte.

This is a second series of buildings (some as photographed), glass panels, abstract shapes formed from buildings. Most are in London, although they could be any city. I have not named any building, nor have attempted to find Architects or Designers. I have just altered things to my own taste, nothing is sacrosanct, nothing lasts for ever, new ideas quickly become old as will these images be the moment I post them. Please enjoy.

Moderne Architektur ist in Hamburg auf Schritt und tritt zu bestaunen. Dichtigkeit der Bebauung erscheint oft locker und gibt Luft zum Atmen!

Embarcadero Center (complex built throughout the seventies) and the Transamerica Pyramid (completed in 1972).

After a night at the opera, we didn't realise the grand finale was still to come.

This was the view when I went out for a short walk from our lofty hotel ( round tower on the right ) in Singapore. A striking use of geometric shapes which were softened by the clever use of Greenery.
