Ferngläser mit der Bezeichnung Armee-Modell werden sowohl von Carl Zeiss Jena als auch von C.P. Goerz in den Kenngrössen 6x21, 6x24, 6x30, 8x20, 8x24 sowie 8x30 in die Schweiz exportiert (für eine umfangreiche Zusammenstellung klicke hier).
Bei dem vorliegenden Exemplar handelt es sich um ein bis dato unbekanntes Modell, bei dem zwar die Angabe der Seriennummer auf dem rechten Deckel vorgesehen, jedoch tatsächlich an anderen Stellen zu finden ist: an der Brücke und am unteren Deckel. Das Design des rechten oberen Deckels erinnert u.a. an bspw. ein Zeiss 8x30 (siehe www.flickr.com/photos/franksbinoculars/21389099889) oder an ein Goerz 6x24 (siehe www.flickr.com/photos/franksbinoculars/23299581363). Das Anbringen der Seriennummer am unteren Deckel ist bei den Zeiss D.F. 6x(24) Exporten üblich (siehe www.flickr.com/photos/franksbinoculars/20624541645). Was das Design anbelangt, stellt dieses Modell sozusagen eine Art Hybrid dar.

Binoculars with the designation Armee-Modell are exported both by Carl Zeiss Jena and C.P. Goerz to Switzerland in the key figures 6x21, 6x24, 6x30, 8x20, 8x24 and 8x30 (for a detailed compilation click here).
This example is about a model unknown to date for which the indication of the serial number was foreseen on the right cover plate, however, in fact can be found at different places: on the hinge and on the lower plate. The design of the right upper plate reminds i.a. of a Zeiss 8x30 for example (see www.flickr.com/photos/franksbinoculars/21389099889) or of a Goerz 6x24 (see www.flickr.com/photos/franksbinoculars/23299581363). Adding the serial number on the lower cover plate is common for the Zeiss D.F. 6x(24) exports (see www.flickr.com/photos/franksbinoculars/20624541645). Concerning the design this model so to say is kind of a hybrid.

Ursprünglich von Goerz im Regierungsauftrag 1908 entwickelt wird aufgrund eines Erlasses des Kriegsministeriums vom August 1909 das Fernglas 08, ein militärisches Galilei-Modell, als Dienstglas für die Gruppenführer der Infanterie offiziell eingeführt. Es wird in grossen Stückzahlen von den deutschen Optikfirmen (siehe www.flickr.com/photos/franksbinoculars/23428964879) hergestellt und findet selbst nach dem 1. Weltkrieg noch bis in die 20er Jahre Verwendung.
Bei dem vorliegenden Exemplar handelt es sich um eine zivile monokulare Version des Fernglas 08. Obwohl das Monokular keinerlei Hinweise auf Hersteller und Kenndaten zeigt, wird anhand von Katalogdaten davon ausgegangen, dass es sich um das Modell RM des Herstellers Spindler & Hoyer handelt.

Originally developed by Goerz in 1908 in response to a governmental mandate the Fernglas 08, a military Galilean model, is officially introduced as a service glass for squad leaders of the infantry due to a decree of the War Office from August 1909. It is produced in large quantities by German optical companies (see www.flickr.com/photos/franksbinoculars/23428964879) and is utilized even after WW I until the 20s.
This example is about a civilian monocular version of the Fernglas 08. Even though the monocular does not show any indication of manufacturer and key figures it is assumed by means of catalogue data that it represents the Modell RM of the manufacturer Spindler & Hoyer.
