Another of the "new" Dinky Toys I purchased last month. This car was missing one headlamp and the paint on the horizontal surfaces was cracked. It also shows 70-years wear and tear in chips. It was priced at 85 cents in the 1950's.
For several years in the 60s Ford offered a choice of a free 1/25th scale plastic model Ford to people who had requested a copy of their current Ford Buyer's Digest of New Car Facts.

Taken this evening (Sunday 31st January) for the Project 366 Group/10th Anniverisary of me joining Flickr.
From Corgi Vanguards, this is based on the prototype Mk III which was registered in Chelmsford on 20th January 1978, around two months before it officialy went into production.
I had this old Chrysler for 40 years and the paint was badly chipped. It also had three white tires and one black flat. It now has a new brush paint job, using 40 year old Humbrol paint, and four new BSW tires.
I never had this model when I was a child but about 40 years ago, I bought the yellow version. Last month, I found this red example on Ebay and at a fair price. Sixty plus years old.

1/18th scale models of cars driven in the 1966 Le Mans 24 Hour race. On the left is a Shelby Collectibles Ford GT40 Mark II as driven by Ken Miles and Denny Hulme (in weathered finish), and on the right is a Werk83 Ferrari 330 P3 as driven by Lorenzo Bandini and Jean Guichet. Ken Miles, who was driving the Ford for the final leg was ordered to slow down so that all three Ford GT40s could be photographed crossing the finishing line. In doing so, Chris Amon and Bruce McLaren were declared winners as they had travelled a slightly greater distance having started further back on the grid from the #1 car. The Ferrari did not finish the race due to mechanical issues.
