East Tennessee has many active groups for photographers. This model shoot was fun and I learned all sorts of things although this isn't a genre I would likely pursue ...except for the fun.
Went out for a shoot with Nicole today. I had Cheryl and photographer Kirsty Orr who is an old friend.

This was shot at a workshop with what I would consider to be split lighting. I wasn't a big fan of it and I had to do some post to the (camera right) side of her face to reduce the contrast.
Strobist: Photogenic monobloc into a large softbox camera left in a split lighting position, f/13 (at ISO 200). Reflector camera right. 2 Photogenics into reflective umbrellas for the background, 1/2 stop hotter. 2 more in strip boxes for rim, 1 1/2 stops lower than key. Triggered by PWs.
PP in Lightroom/CS4.
The idea for the shoot was a Twenties flapper theme, high key, with hats. It ended up being a contemporary fashion shoot with, well, hats.
Model is Lauryn Libby. She made the hat.
Strobist: 4 lights. 2 B800s in stripboxes (no diffusers) on the background, f/18. Key is an X1600 in a beauty dish with sock diffuser, camera right 90º slightly in front of model, f/11. There is a floor skip, a B400 at about 1/2 power, to put light under the hat.
