In real life the Nickel Plate Road never had a location where one of its trains crossed over itself, but on a model railroad layout anything is possible.

Track glued, wired and tested -- though not much of it. Here's a look at what will eventually be Labarthe yard.

The first train from Dubuque to East Dubuque on my layout crosses the Mississippi. This is a work in process but I wanted to note this milestone in construction.
Litchfield and Madison 1077 started as a decorated Intermountain alternate standard 2 bay hopper. I painted a light coat of black to leave the ghost of that scheme, then decaled the new initials and number with Mark Vaughan decals. Then I weathered the car with a fade coat of rust. Then it got another layer of decals with the patch out and new data, re-pack info, ACI label, and some chalk marks. It was finished with a final shot of dullcoat and some final light weathering on top of that.
These are photos of a HO Scale layout that measured 12' x 18'. This was custom built based on our customer's sketch. It is a DCC layout that featured 4 Routed. Powered by a Digitrax Super Chief. LocoNet Plug-in stations were located every 6 feet around the layout. The layout was built in modules for easy shipment to the customer. We provided all bench work, track, and wiring.
I was invited to stop by this Model Railroad club in Chadwick, Illinois by flickr guy "TRAINUT" (Clarke). Quite an impressive layout at this out-of-the-way place. This single photo does not do it justice. Thanks for the hospitality!

Having some fun with long exposures, we drove Georgie's train around his layout with no light except for the EOT and the headlight, and got some exciting results.

I made a visit to the Chi-Town Union Station model railroad display in Union Lake, Michigan on January 27, 2012 with Chelsea_Dale, KRFoto and another friend. Chi-Town isn't just any model railroad, it is the world's largest 0-Scale layout, and they run the world's longest model train, with today's train stretching
to 207 cars, including a few mid-train locomotives.

The plan for the railroad. There is an oval on the zero elevation level, a climb up to a yard, and a branchline to a mine. An amazing amount of content given the small space. I'm using the TT scale (1:120) sizing (3' x 6') for the layout, but doing it in N scale (1:160), so the curves will be broader and have improved reliability.
