The Witcher 3 - PlayStation 5

I knew at some point i'd end up posting a still from a video game. Quite a lot of games now have a photo mode where you can pause the game and move the camera and compose a "photo".

Witcher 3 is a long game and the map is huge. But being a photographer its hard not to stop and use the photo mode when the conditions are nice

It's dual mode time!

My Flickr friend Khaniv just interested on analog film slr. Previously he had the lovely Nikon D40x with his bokehlicious 35mm F1.8 (effective in 50mm) then our friend Luluk borrowed him a Pentak K1000 film slr combined with helios lens 50mm F1.8.. to poisoned him with film camera hehe :D

I got you dude, on Dual mode (slr and digital) exposure..

enjoyed the cult of film mode hehe :D

My wife and I could hardly believe our eyes when we spotted this chap calmly cycling along the cobbled street opposite the cafe where we were enjoying chocolate dipped strawberries and a cup of coffee. I thought of H.G. Wells and his Time Machine, maybe it was parked around the corner.

Don't pretend like you want to be here.

It's clear your mind is somewhere else.

Leave me to bask in my own glory.

Quit the act.

It's clear your mind is somewhere else.

Leave me to bask in my own glory.

You play me like another fool.

Cover me with a jester hat.

I will not be covered any longer.

You will back the fuck down.

Take a step back.

Look at yourself.

See all the lies?

Just give up now.

Raise yourself up from this mess.

I know how you feel.

What you're going through.

But I'm beyond that you sunk down.

Get your satisfaction. Get your fix.

Just know I will not clean up your fucking mess.

(excerpt from my fresh comment on a comment on a comment to this photo; just wanted to share these thoughts with you)

…An objective art (and I consider photography as an art) is contradictio in adjecto, how do you think? Also, all this staff about colors, composition, rhythm (especially rhythm!) etc. is very helpful and expands consciousness of an artist, but, as any theory, is just good instrument of that artist. Once upon a time my friend, good computer master, tried to fix one PC, doing all what was written in his art's books. And failed. He summoned our mutual friend – computer genius. And that genius did something all the contrary any good and proper book. And fixed that PC. But, of course, better to know something about your art and break rules or not, than not to know (and break or not). And to be free, experienced and wise in your ways. And sometimes stupid. Like this famous fool on that legendary hill. And unpredictable if possible. How do you feel about all that?

Sony RX100

Illustration mode

Oil painting and canvas filters applied

Colours modified in post-work (the original mural backdrop was bright red)

Post-work done in PS and LR, along with Nik software plug-ins

The idea behind this shot was to merge the young lad here, Youyou ("yo-yo") into the mural by shooting in illustrator mode with a Sony RX100. In the end, the fusion of mural with human came off half-decently partly due to pure chance.

It just so happened that Youyou's clothing matched the colour of the mural's backdrop and his spontaneous poses really seemed to either echo the poses of the mural figures or provided a contrasting break in composition to lead the viewer's eye.

Having little experience with portraiture, these are two elements I had not thought of before taking these shots - apart from encouraging Youyou to move around naturally - yet they made a big difference to the final result.

The fact that Youyou's clothing matched the backdrop also meant that I was able to alter the colours of both together in post.

When I went out with a friend for a drink I passed here on the bycicle, little tipsy.. At that moment I realised this could be a very nice photograph.. So I went home, took a nap and came back a few hours later to make this photograph.. Glad I took this way home.. :D
