Während vorne an der Tölzer Hütte der Nebel aus dem Risstal emporkroch, entlud sich südlich über dem Karwendel-Hauptkamm ein heftiges Gewitter....ich stand zum Glück geschützt unter'm Dach...
While the fog crept up from the Risstal valley in front of the Tölzer Hütte, a violent thunderstorm af 😆 erupted south over the main Karwendel ridge.... luckily I was sheltered under the roof...

While listening to this eastbound manifest get closer and closer I got to watch the barge in the background make its way past Fountain City and upstream towards Alma. Soon enough the manifest came into view and flies by at track speed along the river.

For most people, their mode of communication is the cell phone. For a Mockingbird, it’s mode of communication with a Crested Caracara is attack, attack, attack. While the Caracara seems unimpressed, it eventually cedes the cell tower to the Mockingbird and flies off looking for more peaceful surroundings.
The groundhog at the zoo is an education animal. She lives in a wing that I can access only in late autumn and wintertime -- when she's in hibernation mode! The staff can wake her up, but if they do, she gets grumpy.
So, here she is as I know her. Sleeping.

There are 3 couples of California Quails still about, I thought it would soon be time for nesting for them. Seems one of them is always on the watch, finding the highest perch around them in the yard to be on.

Jaspyr, watching.
He had been lounging around in the early evening sunshine, next to me on a bench overlooking the Valley and the Firth. Here, he’s had enough of the heat and has gone for a wee lie down in the shade of a swathe of daffodils, behind the bench. Still watching what’s going on, though...

Shot Info: Canon 400d, ISO 100, 30mm, f8, 1/20th second. Bogen/Manfrotto 3221WN tripod used. 8 shot panorama shot in manual mode.
Processing : The 8 RAW images were edited in Lightroom 2.0 where I added a graduated filter with an exposure setting of -3 to the sky. I then added some fill light to the whole image, boosted the contrast, and set the calibration to Landscape. The images were then stitched together in Arcsoft Panorama Maker 4 Pro. In CS3 I added a levels layer, curves layer for contrast, and hue/saturation to boost colors in the sky. I then cloned out some lens flare in the middle of the pano and also in the bottom right corner. Last step was adding an unsharp mask layer.
This image was taken @ Painted Rock State Forrest in Mid Missouri. This is one of my older images, taken in November of '07. I'm not too fond of how it turned out, but none the less I like it.
