Afrika inspireert modeontwerpers al decennialang. Ook in 2012 waren moderne interpretaties van kleurige prints en geometrische vormen op catwalks over de hele wereld te vinden. In zowel Londen als New York werd dit jaar zelfs een African Fashion Week georganiseerd. African fashion is booming. Afrikaanse fashion was daarom natuurlijk onmisbaar op de Afrikadag.
De Afrikadag Fashionshow was een showcase van Afrikaans-Nederlandse modeontwerpers die zich geïnspireerd voelen door de visuele rijkheid van Afrika. Hun modellen presenteerden hun moderne, geraffineerde ontwerpen op onze catwalk, waarna een jury van professionals uit de mode-industrie hun werk beoordeelde. De gelukkige winnaar, Arriz Golden, mocht zijn ontwerpen presenteren in de webshop Lady Africa, werd beloond met een artikel in Africa Magazine ZAM en ontving een cheque, aangeboden door Patricia Linhard!
Africa inspires fashion designers all over the world. Modern interpretations of colourful prints and geometric patterns could be found on high fashion catwalks all over the world in 2012. In London and New York fashion by African designers even got their own high profile African Fashion Week. All the more reason why we had to have our own fashion show on the Africaday!
The Africaday Fashion Show showcased the designs of African-Dutch designers who have been inspired by the rich visual traditions of Africa. Each one of them has her own unique take on African fashion. Models took to the runway dressed in their sophisticated, fashion forward designs and a panel of judges from the fashion industry judged the designs. The lucky winner of the Africaday Fashion Show, Arriz Golden, presented his designs in web shop Lady Africa, featured in an article in Africa Magazine ZAM and received a cheque from Patricia Linhard!

Alright, folks - my daily posting is about to go on a 11 or 12 day hiatus. Kathleen and I are going to be driving and camping in and around the New England area, and I'm exceedingly excited to get out of town. As far as the 365 project goes, I'll still be taking photos, and I may even get the chance to upload a few from the road, but most will wait until I get back to go up.

The holidays have been intense with RL and SL busy mode happening all at once! I hadn't even started my shopping for gifts until yesterday! LOL! OMG!
Some great events and partys on the SL grid way laid my efforts and focus this year. Oh, well... party on peeps...
Louis Volare was playing at Asagao Treasures yesterday. Thank you Montana Laurasia for the event planning and execution. Beautiful music at a beautiful site, and I loved the sky dancer giving the particle show above the stage. Louis is an incredible live musician who plays jazz piano. WOW!
I stopped off to say hello to the New Berlin friends at Electro Smog where Zap Hax was spinning. Can't help leaving everything when Zap sends a tp. His music just puts me in a nice place in my head... especially with all the stress of the holidays!
Promoter Tasty Hax and her team put together an awesome event over at SEAT Beach Club. I saw EVERYONE there including the members of The A List! Woot! Over 50 people were at that event and it was a great stress tester on the sim. Xavi & I, explored it a day ahead and found some nice psy builds.
Ahhh Digital Francis sent an invite over to his Mu sim at the DC-10 club. Love Digi! So we jetted over asap to catch DJ Andy Seiling do his proggy thing... he is a smooth dj that I really enjoy hearing. Lots of peeps were there along with several dj's: Moshi Kamachi (love love this guy), Ionic Benton, Aurora Fairey, Ryz Uriza, Tasty Hax and clubber Lolla Honi. We had a blast! TY Digi!
We promised ourselves that we would only stay at DeRailed for 30 min when DJ Daemonchadeaux sent the tp, but we ended up staying for the entire DJ Blabbermouth set. If you were there, you would know why. Xavi was in heaven! I did some shopping there too, so I did not waste any time! LOL!
Xavi logged out for a dinner break which left me to take care of building business. Yeah, right. DJ Space Greilling sent a tp and the temptation was too great! So, off I went to alt7 alternative club to listen to my favorite alternative dj! Space can keep me in a place indefinitely! I love his contemporary alternative tunes and he always gives us a little musical lesson to go along with it.
I'm off for more! Second Life has so much to do, it is impossible to see and do it all... but, I'm trying! LOL! hehe

For this custom I tried a mid-weathered look, like the CGI renders of the character.
After studying some pics of the real car, I realized it's not actually chrome as I first thought, it's just silver with a few chromed parts and details, which I replicated here. Soon I'll upload more pictures of those details!
Designer from China, Liu Fang debuted her collection in one of the fanciest saloons in Paris: the Salon Imperial in Westin Hotel. As it was her first time at Paris Fashion Week, people were curious and very excited.
Liu Fang interpreted her artistic style by combining structural shapes and contemporary knitwear.
By doing this, she used cashmere as the only material for her designs. When it comes to colour, she prefers the natural colour of cashmere: white. Also, satiny big trousers and pantyhose looked harmonious with futuristic cutting-edge tops.

Depeche Mode live at the o2. Boy was it a jolly gig despite the crazy travelling pains with the lack of the Jubilee line. The set was really nice with the band ploughing through the new stuff first and then concentrating on all the oldies for the die hard fans. Lots of dancing to Enjoy the Silence, I Feel You and Personal Jebus.
Each of the massive third-party combiners I have, broken down into their individual teams. Pictured in robot modes.
Superion (Uranos) breaks down into the Aerialbots, Devastator (Hercules) into the Constructicons, and Predaking (Feral Rex) into the individual Predacons.
Just these teams alone take up our giant kitchen table. It's also kind of crazy to think just how much money has been spent to collect these combiner teams.
Transformers Generations Arcee in her car mode.
After decades of waiting for an official G1 Arcee, we finally got a great representation of the female Autobot with this toy.
Her design and features are a step above most of the recent Generations releases. She can pose quite well with all her accessories.
To me, this probably will be my defacto Classics Arcee over other third-party releases I have.
I have the Takara-Tomy version of pre-order, and it remains to be seen which one I will prefer.

Starscream returns in Revenge of the Fallen with a new toy. Here he is tattooed up in his voyager class robot mode.
Minerva was the BotCon 2011 customizing class figure. Based off the Masterforce character, she is a redeco of Transformers Animated Arcee. Pictured in robot mode.
Built and painted by myself at the convention, the one extra piece of equipment she has are her new thin and fragile antennae. I was unable to obtain the alternate, thicker G1 antennae, but the ones she currently has are accurate to the model. The odd side effect of the antennae are that her eyes are sunken in.
This particular figure is pseudo internet famous in that it was the first completed figure seen, photographed, and tweeted by her co-designer, Derrick J. Wyatt (source). And she was also filmed by Internet Personality Vangelus in one of his vlogs (source).
An interesting note about how this figure came about was that the character used in the class could not have existed in any prior TFA fiction, limiting who it could have been. Furthermore, the character is more "official" than previous years figures in that she was co-created by DJW and showed up in the official comic.
I feel very fortunate to have this very rare figure, regardless of how much it seems to go for on the secondary market.
