The ancient Greeks were naked or rode on horseback, nor, even approximately, looked like an idealized images. Judging by the average Greek osteoarheološkom material was a stocky, robust, relatively short legs.
How, then, the Greek art defines a man? Aristophanes legendary winners of the marathon describes: smooth chest, bright skin, big shoulders, a short tongue, a big butt and a small penis (Clouds, 1011-13). The man was naked, a woman, until the beginning of Hellenism Praksitela and mostly dressed. Only with a few exceptions, all the Greek artists, and all the ancient authors who wrote about nijma men. Greek world, as we know it today, is a male world, and the state, the polis, the patriarchal concept of involving only adult congenital men. Publicly displayed works of art, especially sculpture and architecture are much more addressing the man, but a woman. All of this points to one, relationship between the audience and watched in Greek art becomes the relationship between Erastus and eromena, beloved and lover, in which the sculpture (or pictures) eromen, junior partner in a homosexual relationship, which is passive, perhaps, accentuated reduced penis . Does this mean that Partenonski frieze procession desirable homosexual partners? Worth it just for the tens of thousands of kouros, a sculpture of naked boys who are like tombstones stood all over the Greek world? It is obvious that we can not Greek construction of corporeality and sexuality measure today's standards, but the affinity that our culture is shown to the classics (Twentieth Century, however, follows the trend of abandonment of traditional forms) are not missed. Later, we see that there, although there is a huge gap of misunderstanding, many points of contact between modern and Greek civil taste.
When we talk about the relationship of the human body, with all their needs, and cultural norms, are talking also about how integration in society. The basic form of the Greek society is distinct homosocijalnost, and for the Greek polis, we can rightly say that the men's club, while all other social groups condemned the segregation (women, foreigners), or completely off (the slaves). Unlike the Eastern civilizations, where distant and invisible to authorities govern the lives of its subjects, the polis, which is completely independent and self-sufficient entity, a man (man) becomes visible, palpable agent in the creation of the state. However, this task is not easy. Greek soldier, farmer or tradesman, a voter, a full-fledged citizen, all in one. Tensions emerged that many contradictory roles that the Greeks had to exercise can be felt in the description of the Athenian demos from around 400 BC AD: capricious, choleric, unjust, inconstant, but also accommodating, compassionate, sympathetic, boastful, conceited, humble, gentle and wild, all in one. (Gas NH 35th 69) Not surprisingly, therefore, that neither Plato nor Aristotle placed him in a democracy are not desirable and equitable social order.
The woman was in the polis became the antithesis of a positive, active, male principle. At the Parthenon on the two places could see the struggle of the Greeks against the dangerous female troupe, the Amazons (the metopes and the Athena's shield), while in the temple, on the podium Athens Partenos there view of creating the first woman, Pandora, which, as we have learned from Hesiod, gods created as an evil for men. The final showdown with the role and position of women in Athenian society has been registered on the mythological level, the story about the trial of Orestes, murderer of the mother. The lawsuit was Apollos' argument prevailed, thanks to Athena's casting vote, that the woman just groove in which a man throws seed, and that she does not play a role in inheritance and does not determine the future no man. Orestes is, therefore, solely responsible father as a single parent. However, when you mention all the art and mythology of all, we know that these are fields in which most reflects the state ideology. The role of women in Greek society was hidden, but very important, as today in some areas of the Mediterranean. But what we are currently most interested in is to be very long portrayed women as revised (incomplete) man, and that odjevenost its natural state. It seems that the show (and show), femininity was particularly limited, and that is seen as subversive in a strictly male polis.
The fundamental tension that permeates the polis and who is much involved in the construction of Greek mythology, literature and culture in general, the conflict of the individual and authority, and desire and the law. Characteristically, the civil society of equal to the materialism and competitiveness rises ambitious and egotistical individual who lust for the material is transformed into the desire for all the pleasures available to him. Greeks see such a symposium, spree that has become a central ritual of civic life, where the drinking and the competition in elegance and wisdom of engaging in all possible sexual pleasures. Quite different is the Greek who walks under the heavy weapons as part of a faceless phalanx. Pressed and pushed the bodies completely lost personality, and the only thing left is his awareness of obedience to the strict requirements of the battleship row, which only he can ensure survival. His body, which plays a central role in his worldview, it is now part of a large body of the polis, and above it no longer has any power. When Plato says: What in fact what most people call it peace (...) is just empty words, and things are by nature all of the state (polis) in nenaviještenom constant war with all countries. (Laws 626-a), does this mean that peace is an unnatural, perhaps even more dangerous state of war? It is obvious that the constant uncertainty of war has a strong role in the cohesion policy. Uniformed and hardly moving phalanx carries a clear message to the necessity of unity and submission to the community.
Have You ever been thinking about the word
"Sorry"
🎶Sorry seems to be the hardest word🎶
But sometimes it's just too easy a word to use
You can hide behind it
Conceal what actually happened
So you don't have to explain
And the recipient may interpret what happened totally wrong
Because there were no communication
It can end relationships because of misunderstandings, it can strengthen them because of the growth - that is if you manage to talk it through
Life can be a bit too exciting some times, can't it
18:32] Charles Noble chuckled "Ta be jolly, fa la la la la " he said, not singing, speaking each lyric slowly and deadpan. he cracked his neck loudly and put his hand to her shoulder and then turned away from her facing in the opposite direction urging her forwards, his eyes focused on sable and narrowed, he put his hand to his gaunlet and stopped in his tracks, pressing the buttons on the pda, as an image that was sent to him a few weeks ago flashed upon the screen, he clucked his tounge slowly, dropping his hand from guins shoulder "Wait here " he said lowly as he headed towards sable "Say...ain yo ston's gal" he said canting his head to one side "Need ta ask ya sumptin" he said with a tilt of the head to the alley just off to the side.
[18:35] Guinevere Fouroux raises both eyebrows, the smile not fading, but a hint of concern creeping into it nonetheless. She doesn't even notice the neck cracking, which would normally drive her nuts. She doesn't protest as he guides her forward, watching him over her shoulder until she can't any longer, stopping when he does. At his whisper, she glances over, catching sight of the girl whose name she -still- doesn't know. "Ohkaaay," she says slowly, staying right where she is as he moves over over to talk to her. She can only catch a few words, enough to pique her curiosity.
[18:36] Sable Levee looking up at the big male still as not knowing him would just smirk thinking he be looking for some fun. Rocking back on heels just nods her head," ya I am.." golden eyes shifting toward the other female for an moment before back to the male, Seeing him indicate moving to the alley moves to walk in that direction. Body pulsing still from the drugs as hips sway side to side
[18:39] Charles Noble reached inside his pocket and looked down to it, catching sables eye as if to suggest he had something in there that she would want, he followed her into the alley way he moved out of sight of the street hidden behind the pillar ,he nodded to infront of him , so she too would move out of view "Stand thar " he said looking around, dun wan no one ta see this..." he said glancing to the pocket once more "I'm chuck, owner of tha four horsemen, got somptin har for ston from me okay? want ya ta pass it on"
[18:44] Sable Levee golden eyes already dilated as she just sways once smelling of resent sex looks deep into the males eyes. Soft lips curled into an smirk as knows the bar he is refering toward. Petite frame standing before him as being curious looks him over caughting sight of the shinny toy he has stapped to wrist wanting it. " what ya gots?.." voice soft and slightly slurred at the moment as mind is slow to process things
[18:46] Charles Noble chuckled "Oh somptin ah think he's been wantin, well "he leaned forwards conspirtorially "From his behavior ah reckon he wants it anyhow..."he slowly drew a closed fist from his pocket holding it towards her gut, he uncurled his fingers to reveal an empty hand, he waited for her hazy state to process the hand was empty, eyes locking onto hers, with a faint hint of a smile there. "Get it?" he asked
[18:46] Guinevere Fouroux steps to one side, peering into the shadows where Charles and the girl had gone. She presses her lips together, curiosity only deepening, but she can't hear from here. With a quiet huff, she glances over at the stranger to her left, and gives him a quick, almost sheepish smile.
[18:50] Sable Levee delicate face frowns even as cheeks are still flushed short hair clinging along them as eyes look down to the males large hand, Thought just drifting for an moment wondering how they would feel along her flesh, Before it registers that the hand he holds before her is empty. Confused as is hard for her at the moment," ya want me to give him nothing from ya?.."
[18:52] Charles Noble looked down to the empty hand then back to her eyes . He smirked "Nah, I want ya to give him this" with that he drew his hand back quickly then threw it towards her stomach clenching his fingers at the last moment, a steamtrain of punch aimed right at her gut.
[18:53] Jeffery Nubalo would look over at Guin as she would try to see what the man who had left with Sable was doing and would give her a nod glancing down to his pda in hand "Curious about something?" talking in a low voice to prevent Charles form hearing him "I am more than sure he would tell you what he is speaking to her about" giving her a small frown "Though your snooping does seem to implicate that you do not believe he will tell you" shurgging his shoulder "Though I am sure you could get quite curious while waiting" and would look back down at his pda
[18:55] Sable Levee surprised as she would just grunt the air being knocked from her lungs. Petite frame doubling over as struggles to breath, panting. Feeling the pain along midsection as can not speak at first,' what... what the fuck ..' as leans arms wrapped to middle
[18:57] Charles Noble reached down and made a grab for her hair , attempting to yank her head back, he would also attempt to place his palm to her mouth as he delivered the following. "Ya got tha fuckin message righ?make sure ya deliver..ya tell him who, and where ta find me...a discription too..jes ta make fuckin sure..." he snarled "Ya get it, or ya want me ta give ya tha full fuckin message?"
[18:57] Guinevere Fouroux blinks at the man a few times. "I'm not snooping!" she protests. And she wasn't. Snooping implies finding something. "I was just...curious. That's all. I'm sure he'll tell me if it's important." She says that with more confidence than she feels, but deliberately leans back, looking everywhere -except- into the alley.
[19:01] Jeffery Nubalo looks back up at her and raises an eyebrow "You are not? Then you must excuse me, by your actions of trying to look into the alley as discreetly as possibly, I had take form it that you were" glancing to the alley and back to her "Though I am sure you would be above that" giving her a small smile
[19:02] Sable Levee face flushed ever more as finger grip along hair she would attempt to bite down along his fingers when hand is pressed along mouth, Gasping out an," fuck ya.." still skimming high as sure to be an bruise formed to belly squirms twisting her body
[19:04] Guinevere Fouroux's presses her lips together, and sniffs indignantly at the man, heat touching her cheeks in embarrassment. "Well, perhaps you shouldn't spend so much effort watching what I'm doing, then." Her arms wrap more tightly around her, and her back straightens. "No more misunderstandings."
[19:07] Jeffery Nubalo gives her a small frown "Well I am unsure who had the misunderstanding, but I am good at noticing what goes on around me while I work. It is my job" taking a step towards her "Though when you happen to be free from you companion, I would be more than happy to purchase you a drink"
[19:07] Charles Noble pushed his hand forwards against her mouth, pushing her towards the wall trapping her head tween his palm and the wall, pushing hard, the presure would soon be felt as if her head were inside a vice as he gradually increased the presure he leaned forwards and whispered "This is where smart pays off, " he said tween gritted teeth "I've flushed bigger turds than you girl do not piss me off. ah suggest when ya wake up, ya deliver tha message post fuckin haste" he then reached up to her hair once more and grabbed at her mop of hair, attempting once more to grip it , he would yank her head forwards then slam the back of her head against the concrete pillar
[19:12] Sable Levee draws in an deep breath as large hand comes to curl fully along her mouth the peircing cutting to lips and face. Squirming still as the ingested drugs make her react as feeling the grip of hand to hair once more. Hears the male growled words as golden eyes flashing another fuck ya look just before with an slam of head to concrete little Sable is out for the count. Body limp as dangles there for as long as he hold her pinned upwads along the piller
[19:13] Guinevere Fouroux arches a brow, curious again, though this doesn't require peering into alleys. "And just what is your job?" she asks as he steps toward her, ignoring the bit about misunderstandings. "That's very kind of you," she says politely, and musters up a polite smile again. "Though I don't imagine my... companion will be much longer." This time she does glance toward the alley, a bit worried, though what the tiny, half-naked woman might do to Charles, she can't imagine.
[19:17] Charles Noble tilted his head to one side, and then the other slowly looking her over, feeling her go limp, he held her there for a few moments before letting her slide down the pillar into darkness, his lip twitched, he lurched towards her body for a moment, before pulling himself back, he inhaled a deep breath then stepped out into the street, his expression immediately changing to a composed smiling individual, he nodded over to guin "All done har, lets go get a drink he beamed and nodded to Jeffey he called back into the alley jovially to the unconscious sable "Al right darlin, catch ya later " he said with a light laugh, as if she were fully awake and enjoying their secret togther " he batted his hand at the alley and shook his head slowly then offered his arm to guin. "c'mon" he said in a low friendly whisper.
[19:17] Jeffery Nubalo gives her a nod "I do not believe he will be much longer as well. He would not want to leave a female like yourself alone for long. If at sometime you happen to be free though, I would be happy to discuss my job with you" pulling out a card from his jacket and would prop it slightly out for her to take it "Though I must say I am normally in a more 'jovial' mood, though recent events have left me not in one of the best moods" giving her a smile
[19:22] Guinevere Fouroux reaches out for his card, glancing down at it just as Charles steps back out into the alley. His cheery farewell to the girl makes her wrinkle her nose a little, and she turns back to Jeffrey with a more obvious smile. "I'm sorry to hear that... hopefully I will catch you in a better mood soon, then." She looks up at Charles as he offers her his arm, but just before taking it, she looks to Jeffrey and inclines her head. "It was very nice to meet you. I hope to see you again soon." Then she threads her arm through Charles', squeezing a little at his whisper. "Drink it is," she murmurs.
There is West Lake scenic area in Hangzhou city.and the bronze pagoda what you seen was created by the great bronze artist,Zhu Bingren(朱炳仁)。you have seen his amazing handcrafts in my Hangzhou series.Enjoy it again,
You can see Loong boat (龙舫)too,
I use Loong 龙 in English here, the accent is same as long.I don't use dragon to express this fetish. You know.龙 ,Loong is Chinese totem,In Chinese traditional culture,Loong is full of grace and power,It can bring good luck and happiness to the people. In ancient time ,the emperors kept Loong as their private fortune.the folks was forbidden to use anything that related to Loong. The emperors called themself as the son of the Loong. It means he had blue blood. As time goes by,Loong becomes Chinese symbol against. It simbolizes the indonitable manhood that stays in the cockles of the heart.
It is different to dragon.
In western culture, dragon is the aggresive beast,It has a long neck and two wings, and dragon is the evil in Bible .But Loong doesn't have wings ,they are not the same thing.Maybe there is some misunderstanding between different culture backgrounds.

Mythology may, in a real sense, be defined as other people's religion. And religion may, in a sense, be understood as popular misunderstanding of mythology.
Joseph Campbell, Thou Art That: Transforming Religious Metaphor
Joseph John Campbell was an American writer. He was a professor of literature at Sarah Lawrence College who worked in comparative mythology and comparative religion. His work covers many aspects of the human experience.
“Sensitive people are the most genuine and honest people you will ever meet. There is nothing they won’t tell you about themselves if they trust your kindness. However, the moment you betray them, reject them or devalue them, they become the worse type of person. Unfortunately, they end up hurting themselves in the long run. They don’t want to hurt other people. It is against their very nature. They want to make amends and undo the wrong they did. Their life is a wave of highs and lows. They live with guilt and constant pain over unresolved situations and misunderstandings. They are tortured souls that are not able to live with hatred or being hated. This type of person needs the most love anyone can give them because their soul has been constantly bruised by others. However, despite the tragedy of what they have to go through in life, they remain the most compassionate people worth knowing, and the ones that often become activists for the broken hearted, forgotten and the misunderstood. They are angels with broken wings that only fly when loved.”

I often throw out a cautionary note as planet Mercury swings retrograde. Like many situations in life, we're often well into a new phase before even realizing it. Mercury retrograde can catch us all off guard. There's not much we can do about it, the delays, accidents, communication failures, mechanical and electrical breakdowns, misunderstandings, and on and on. But being aware of the increased likelihood of these things can help reduce the impact. Retrogrades tend to be reflective times with our thoughts often leading us backwards to prior times, events and people. It's a good time to take one's foot off the gas and just ease up a bit. Reflect, plan, check and double check. There's a high probability for careless mistakes now, often times not realized until after the retrograde comes to an end (that's one that always gets me, one way or another). The shadow phase of Mercury retrograde began a couple of weeks ago so the effects have already begun to play out. The actual retrograde begins today and runs through July 12. As if that's not enough, Mercury is joined in retrograde by five other planets this month. Six planets in simultaneous retrograde is a fairly unusual occurrence and could pose for some additional life challenges over the next few weeks.
Time seemed to pause for me momentarily at this abandoned farmstead one foggy morning. It was as if I'd ventured onto a Hollywood movie set. One of those scenes you see with your eyes, but also feel in your heart. Times like this I really can't believe what I'm seeing, but feeling immensely fortunate to be here. I often get this weird desire to walk into the scenes in other people's photos. Places that seem so special that I just want to be a part of, to experience them firsthand.
Check out some of these scenes you've created here:

Wartown Crew Hoodlums from Warrington VA, BMX at the Navy Memorial, NW, Washington DC on Sunday afternoon, 3 October 2004 by Elvert Barnes Photography
____________
On Sundays and Saturdays it is not uncommon for me to take a walk from my apartment to Dupont Circle and back again. Capturing scenarios along the way.
When I'd began in 1992 I was living on 15th Street in SE WDC. Then, in 1993, when I moved to Scott Circle, which is just blocks from Dupont Circle, it became even more of a ritual. And, as a result, I now have an interesting collection of "Dupont Circle, Over the Years" images. In 1997 I'd move back to Capitol Hill in NE on Constitution Avenue and would continue the ritual of walking across town, usually to Dupont Circle, and then back again.
In November 2001 I'd move to SW which is where I now live and would resume the ritual in the spring of 2002. Since, over the years, since I've captured skateboarders in Freedom Plaza it has caught my attention, in recent months, that there are more bmx's in the city. And not only in Freedom Plaza.
On Sunday, 3 October 2004, two days before my 51st birthday, during my Sunday walk and as I headed back home from Dupont Cirlce I'd happen upon a group of young white males in the Navy Memorial 'bmx'ing.
Which before I'd ask what they called it I did know the term was 'bmxing'. I mention the fact that they were 'young white boys' because that is often the case. Even though WDC is known as 'Chocolate City' black males have never had the freedom that white males do.
Whether it is bmxing, skateboarding, roller hockey at the White House or rugby on the Ellipse. And while, of course, there are exceptions to the rule, for the most part, in 2005, it is just as much the case now as it 'ever was'.
I say this because if I were to play roller hockey, bmx, skateboarding or whatever and as is true with me and photography I'd be one of the few black males that you'd see every weekend engaging and assimilating with the 'white folks' who I'd regard as my friends and/or colleagues.
And folks including my white friends would react to me, as a black man, the same way as they now do ... and have done ... towards me and my photography. In recent weeks I've observed many photographers from around the world and, of course, in WDC who photograph with the same passion and similar interests and focus as do I who post and upload to Flicker. And if you look at my photos from years ago ... I have done the exact same thing as they do.
And having captured Washington DC for the past decade on Sunday and Saturday afternoons as well as through protest photography nothing is more obvious to me than the freedom that young white males have, experience, and are afforded. Which is in sharp to my experience as a 51 year old gay black man.
Who, since grade school in the 60's have practiced integration, assimilated and associated with whites. And, in case you, there is some misunderstanding in what I mean when I say 'integrate and assimilate' to put it in more simpler terms many of those with whom I have had sexual relatationships have been white males. As far backs as junior high school.
Not only have we slept and partied together. But we've also travelled and lived together.
And as I'd snap this series of pictures of a group of young white boys bmxing at the Navy Memorial in WDC, in October 2004, I'd reflect on the fact that this group of 'young white boys' may would have been amongst my friends ... had they been born 50 years ago.
And just as it was the case on 3 October 2004, two days before my 51st birthday, I may would have been one of if not the only black guy amongst the crowd. And, of course, treated just the opposite as they.
If only I had known then what I know now.
My friend Red freed me. "Always Be YOUR Truth and Speak Your Heart."
Yes I am an artist. But most of all, excruiatingly enough, at this time especially:
I was born with the gift/curse, of "Clarivoyant Medium, Psychic ,Touch Intuitive."
I do not mind if people, who haven't needed me, or experienced my work, before, raise their eyes, and stick their tongue in their inner cheek. I would have done the same, if I weren't me!
But it isn't fun being inside of a college student, in her apartment when she is beaten and strangled, and being her, and her thoughts: "Oh Oh, this isn't happening to me? I went too far this time??!! I shouldn't have brought this man home with me? Oh God no??" Being a person who is getting beaten to death in a trench, feeling and hearing my skull break apart. That hot shock, and numbness.
Or the child putrifying in the drainage ditch, begging someone to find their body, and help them. Frightened and lost.
Or the old woman who is trapped in her house, after she dies, and hates me, when I walk in with the family, so she attacks me with electricity and foul stenchful energy. That drives the family back outside, leaving me to fend for myself.
Or being lifted off the ground by my throat, only because a lost soul is curious about what is in contact with them? Milliseconds can seem like eternity for both of us...
And the voices that vibrate all around me, in public. Buzzing with sadness , anger(RAGE often), and confusion and fear. "Where am I dammit. What is this.Who are you?"
Compiled with the hopeless anger, greed and cruelty of the world around me, globally.
It has taken its toll on my health and mind.
With family hatred, greed and misunderstanding, layered upon me as well.
It starts to decimate me.Shut me down.I can't function.
Then a friend, an angel, and kindest person comes, and understands. And is finding me a place to go and rest with others, with gifts, who understand and have empathy about my energy and visions.
Don't label me as "mentally unstable" ,or Satanic and evil. Scarey or wanting attention?
Red gave me the strength to not be ashamed, or full of rage and frustration.Soon I can learn to protect myself, and only filter love through my body and brain.. Learning to say :"No" , when people come to me for help, or police investigators want to use my gift ,like I am some machine, without feelings.., When someone wants me to verify that they are a liar or a cheater. Or if they will be loved in the future..Oh....STOP it please, such shallow questions about love and financial future? And also when people accuse mockingly:" If you're such a good medium, why can't you make your own future perfect?" It doesn't work that way.Ask anyone who is in my shoes?
I don't have to suffer those other peoples' and lost souls tortures , or be the HELPER all of the time. I need to help myself now..Enough said...
Any "unkind" comments, "UNWELCOME"..
Love:james
Can anyone please make my Lori Novo beautiful for that day?
Dear friends, I had removed this picture from my Flickr stream earlier. I had been informed that someone had gotten in trouble for the pile-up she had done for me which made me feel terribly sadden since I never imagined that could happen.
A misunderstanding, she didn't get banned from Flickr as I understood, but from a Flickr group she had added the picture to. As I understand now, some Flickr groups do not allow that.
I am sadden for her getting in trouble for my pic and also for having lost all the beautiful wishes and comments you all had left me before. They truly made me smile...
Hugs! <3

Works of art are of an infinite solitude, and no means of approach is so useless as criticism. Only love can touch and hold them and be fair to them.
Nothing touches a work of art so little as words of criticism: they always result in more or less fortunate misunderstandings. Things aren't all so tangible and sayable as people would usually have us believe; most experiences are unsayable, they happen in a space that no word has ever entered, and more unsayable than all other things are works of art, those mysterious existences, whose life endures beside our own small, transitory life.
~ Rainer Maria Rilke, Letters To A Young Poet ~

The vision of the center of this mandala beleaguered me in the same night when I completed Kabeirô – and I even was told its name: Worlds within Worlds.
Instantly, I sensed a profound aversion to both the image and the name, and for about one week, I refused to start with the work on the mosaic.
Then, one sleepless night, I had another vision which was very weird: before I saw anything, I had the sensation that my body was a tremendous, overdimensioned black sphere which had a very small white sphere in its midpoint; not till then, I saw the image of the black sphere, but somehow two-dimensional (onyl the small white sphere in the center was three-dimensional), but I knew that my body – more precisely: my whole self – and the image were one and the same, and that something with it was quite wrong.
Then, after some frightening minutes or hours (I really don't know), another image arose: a white sphere, much smaller than the black one, and with a small black sphere in its middle. This white sphere was outside of my body, I only could see but not sense it, and the feeling of something quite wrong got stronger, and very scary.
The third image which arose after another frightening minutes or hours, was exactly the same I already had seen after I had completed Kabeirô: Taigitu, the symbol of life itself as well as the symbol of the polarity which forms the basis of everything in this wonderful and appalling world.
Not until then, when Taigitu arose, I understood what was wrong with the first two images: the black and the white sphere were meant to compose ONE sphere: a complete whole INSIDE myself.
On the following day, I started working on the mosaic, for I was completely aware of the NECESSITY of creating it. I just had one wish: that I was allowed to find a second name for the mandala which was concordant with my longing for staying integrated in the world of Greek mythology.
I worked on the mosaic from sunrise to sunset, and late in the night, I finally got to know the name I could welcome from the bottom of my heart: Kybele.
Kybele (English: Cybele), the great God mother of the mountain Ida (Latin: Magna Mater), was a goddess who originally was deified in Phrygien, together with her lover Attis, and later also in ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. The cult of Kybele and Attis was – similar as the cult of Mithras – a widespread mystery cult up to the Late Classic Period. The whole legend concerns apparently the gender dualism; it explains the origin of the world by an interaction of the male and the female element of the universe: the heavenly Attis must inseminate the mother earth Kybele with its blood so that the world can arise.
The mandala is not yet completed; I suppose that it's going to be quite huge and that I'll work on it for a couple of weeks, but I don't know definitely... – well, we will see. ;-)

For the challenge, WEEK#201 Portrait (of someone, anyone) or a Selfie (a self portrait).
I think I was not very clear in the description of the challenge; even our frequent portrait contributors have not posted portrait photos thinking the challenge was only for selfies. I do hope this will clear the smoke and we will soon see more participants taking up the challenge.
This is a photo of my lovely French daughter-in-law. It was taken for the "Frame in Frame" project a couple of years ago when I posted another photo of hers, with a head scarf, from the same sessions. Since I wanted to clear the possible misunderstanding asap, I had to go to the shoebox and thought this lovely face could help me make my point.
Processed in LR, PS and Silver Efex Pro for global and local adjustments and final touches, respectively.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citrine_wagtail
The citrine wagtail (Motacilla citreola) is a small songbird in the family Motacillidae.
Etymology
The term citrine refers to its yellowish colouration.
Taxonomy
Its systematics, phylogeny and taxonomy are subject of considerable debate in the early 21st century. This is because this bird forms a cryptic species complex with the eastern (M. tschutschensis ) and western yellow wagtail (M. flava). Which of the many taxa in this group should properly refer to which population is unlikely to be resolved in the immediate future.[2]
Motacilla is the Latin name for the pied wagtail; although actually a diminutive of motare, " to move about", from medieval times it led to the misunderstanding of cilla as "tail". The specific citreola is Latin for "lemon yellow".[3]
Description
It is a slender, 15.5–17 cm long bird, with the long, constantly wagging tail characteristic of the genus Motacilla. The adult male in breeding plumage is basically grey or black above, with white on the remiges, and bright yellow below and on the entire head except for the black nape. In winter plumage, its yellow underparts may be diluted by white, and the head is brownish with a yellowish supercilium. Females look generally like washed-out versions of males in winter plumage.
Distribution
This species breeds in north central Asia in wet meadows and tundra. It migrates in winter to South Asia, often to highland areas. Its range is expanding westwards, and it is a rare but increasing vagrant to western Europe. Vagrants seem to extend the migration rather than straying en route; in Bhutan for example, though along one of the species' migration flyways, the citrine wagtail has been recorded as an extremely rare passer-by rather than staying even for a few days or weeks.[4]
Ecology
It is an insectivorous bird of open country near water, such as wet meadows and bogs, and nests on the ground, laying 4–5 speckled eggs.

Ryōan-ji (Shinjitai: 竜安寺, Kyūjitai: 龍安寺, The Temple of the Dragon at Peace) is a Zen temple located in northwest Kyoto, Japan. It belongs to the Myōshin-ji school of the Rinzai branch of Zen Buddhism. The Ryōan-ji garden is considered one of the finest surviving examples of kare-sansui ("dry landscape"), a refined type of Japanese Zen temple garden design generally featuring distinctive larger rock formations arranged amidst a sweep of smooth pebbles (small, carefully selected polished river rocks) raked into linear patterns that facilitate meditation. The temple and its gardens are listed as one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, and as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The temple's name is synonymous with the temple's famous Zen garden, the karesansui (dry landscape) rock garden, thought to have been built in the late 15th century.
The garden is a rectangle of 248 square meters (2,670 square feet), twenty-five meters by ten meters. Placed within it are fifteen stones of different sizes, carefully composed in five groups; one group of five stones, two groups of three, and two groups of two stones. The stones are surrounded by white gravel, which is carefully raked each day by the monks. The only vegetation in the garden is some moss around the stones.
The garden is meant to be viewed from a seated position on the veranda of the hōjō, the residence of the abbot of the monastery. The stones are placed so that the entire composition cannot be seen at once from the veranda.
The wall behind the garden is an important element of the garden. It is made of clay, which has been stained by age with subtle brown and orange tones. In 1977, the tile roof of the wall was restored with tree bark to its original appearance. When the garden was rebuilt in 1799, it came up higher than before and a view over the wall to the mountain scenery behind came about. At present this view is blocked by trees.
The garden had particular significance for the composer John Cage, who composed a series of works and made visual art works based on it.
Like any work of art, the artistic garden of Ryōan-ji is also open to interpretation or research into possible meanings. Many different theories have been put forward inside and outside Japan about what the garden is supposed to represent, from islands in a stream, a tiger family crossing a river, mountain peaks, to theories about secrets of geometry or the rules of equilibrium of odd numbers. Garden historian Gunter Nitschke wrote: "The garden at Ryōan-ji does not symbolize anything, or more precisely, to avoid any misunderstanding, the garden of Ryōan-ji does not symbolize, nor does it have the value of reproducing a natural beauty that one can find in the real or mythical world. I consider it to be an abstract composition of 'natural' objects in space, a composition whose function is to incite meditation."

"Dad did you seriously try to head butt me?!!" The little guy surprised his dad by approaching him from behind with the intent on joining him on his bush snack when the dad rather suddenly and violently charged the little guy with head down. Upon reaching a safe distance after a quick escape the kid turned around and gave Dad this look. He did rejoin his dad at the dinner table shortly after. Just a minor misunderstanding.

I had many shots of the famous Solfar sculpture in Reykjavik I wanted to take before my trip to Iceland. I normally have good luck on these trips but this time round thanks to very Icelandic weather I had to make do with this 1600 ISO dusk shot taken on our last evening during a short gap in a snowstorm.
I guess at least it's different than other shots I've seen before........

From Wikipedia : "It is a common misunderstanding that Sun Voyager is a Viking ship. It is quite understandable that many tourists think like this when travelling in Iceland, the land of the sagas. Nonetheless, it should be stressed that this was not the original intention.
Jón Gunnar was himself very ill with leukaemia at the time that the full-scale Sun Voyager came to be constructed, and he died in April 1989, a year before it was placed in its present location. Some people have thus suggested that Jón Gunnar conceived the work during this period, at a time when he might have been preoccupied with death, and argued that Sun Voyager should be seen as a vessel that transports souls to the realm of death. While this is a nice idea and might be imagined to have some validity, it actually has little truth (at least from the point of view of the artist). As noted above, Sun Voyager was essentially envisaged as being a dreamboat, an ode to the sun symbolizing light and hope."

Everything turned out okay! I got an e-mail from my professor saying there had been a misunderstanding and that I'll be able to take the class, which means I won't be forced to spend an entire extra semester in college! I've also been trying to work out a money-saving plan and it looks like I've finally worked all that out too. I have work in an hour, better go get ready!
So how has everyone been??

龙,I use Loong in English here, the accent is as same as long.I don't use dragon to express this fetish. You know.龙 ,Loong is Chinese totem,In Chinese traditional culture,Loong is full of grace and power,It can bring good luck and happiness to the people. In ancient time ,the emperors kept Loong as their private fortune.the folks was forbidden to use anything that related to Loong. The emperors called themself as the sons of the Loong. It means he had blue blood. As time goes by,Loong becomes Chinese symbol against. It symbolizes the indonitable manhood that stays in the cockles of the heart.
It is different to dragon.
In western culture, dragon is the aggresive beast,It has a long neck and two wings, and dragon is the evil in Bible .But Loong doesn't have wings ,they are not the same animal.Maybe there is some misunderstanding between different culture backgrounds.
It took me too long to understand that no matter how much I explain my side, some people will twist it to fit their narrative. I used to pour my heart out, desperately hoping they’d see the truth, but I’ve learned the hard way—if someone truly wanted to understand, they wouldn’t make me beg for it.
If you’ve already decided I’m the villain in your story, fine. I’m not going to keep bending over backwards trying to prove I’m good enough, worthy enough, or innocent enough. The truth is, the more I explain, the more power I give to someone who doesn’t want to hear it.
Let them believe what they want.
Let them say it was all my fault.
Let them stay stuck in their version of events.
LET. THEM.
I won’t defend myself anymore. Because I’ve realized something crucial—explaining myself over and over doesn’t bring peace. It only exhausts me. It only reinforces their narrative, because if they really cared to understand, they would’ve listened the first time.
I’m reclaiming my energy. I’m walking away from the endless loop of justification and debate. I deserve connections where I don’t have to fight for my truth to be seen.
If my silence makes you uncomfortable, then be uncomfortable.
If my choice not to explain feels like defeat to you, that’s on you.
I’m no longer concerned with trying to win a battle I never agreed to fight.
I’m done begging to be understood.
I’m done begging for kindness, respect, and empathy that should’ve been given freely.
I’m done putting myself on trial in a court that was never fair to begin with.
I'M. DONE.
The only explanation I owe is to myself: that I choose peace over their noise.
I choose to move on without the weight of constantly trying to be heard by people who are committed to misunderstanding me.
Let them think what they want.
LET. THEM. GO.
I will not explain myself again.
Because, honestly, I don’t need to.

To the day. No one had heard of social distancing then . . .
Mother Ivey’s Bay takes its name from the legend of Mother Ivy who was a local white witch who cursed a local family. It lies just around the coast from Harlyn Bay. Cushioned from the wind by the Merope Rocks.
Mother Ivey was a white witch living at the back of Trevose Head, the other side of the headland to Harlyn Bay. A vocal member of the community, Ivey tried to sort out any trials or misunderstandings as best she could. She used her charms and spells for righting harm and wrongs and was very seldom angry. One man who lived in Harlyn tried Mother Ivey’s kindness. Bad idea to try a witch, even a white one.
In those days Harlyn's wealth was in silver, the silver of pilchards caught and salted and sent to Italy for Catholic folk to eat on fish Fridays and in Lent. The silver lined the cellars of the fish merchant, but when the fish went to Italy it didn't fill the bellies of the Cornish fishermens' families.
A fish merchant lived at a house called The Fish Cellars, still there at Harlyn Bay today, and he had a very successful business selling pilchards. His house had a motto carved into the granite lintel over the door, it said, ‘Profit smells sweet’. In contrast to the success and profit made at the fish cellars, the villagers were starving.
One week, a ship carrying a large cargo of pilchards was returned from Italy unsold. Every villager came to see the ship in, hopeful their bellies would soon be filled. The Fish Merchant took the fish off the ship and up the hill to his farm. Mother Ivey pleaded with him to allow the villagers to eat the fish as it was still good enough to eat even though it could not be sold.
Instead, the fish were ploughed into a field as fertilizer. Mother Ivey was very angry, the people she spent her years helping were in desperate need of the food that had just been denied them. She went to the Fish Cellars and cursed the merchant's field:
"Break the soil, Death will follow,”
And it did. The next year, the merchant ploughed the field and planted corn. A few weeks later his eldest son was out riding his horse, when he fell off and was killed. Profit smelled sour. No one has taken a spade or a plough to the field since, for fear of what may happen. The field lays fallow to this day.
But Mother Ivey's kindness lives on as well as her curse, kindness in the hearts of the lifeboat men stationed at Mother Ivey's bay, willing to risk their lives to save their fellow men from the silvery sea.

Disillusion, dissension
One love for a life but no life for one love
No sacrifice, no compromise
Misunderstandings and we’re fed up staying
If one feeling can hurt a man
I wanna be inhuman
I ain’t got no lust for pleasure
I don’t want to suffer
Dysfunction, distortion
See the modern quest, the blooming of itself
Don’t look backward, don’t look forward
This generation waits for a revelation
If one feeling can hurt a woman
She wanna be inhuman
Is there anyone who can help her ?
She doesn’t want to suffer
Tell me if it’s a game
See your empty life
Tell me if it’s a shame
See my empty life
Division, destruction
Nuclear family has one foot in the grave
Solitude in the hive
One point for self-service lives
I like your void, do you like mine ?
We’re glad untogether
I like your freedom, do you like mine ?
See us when it’s better

We had another set today.
First we intended to make some shots in a house which had been destroyed with fire. But there we met some misunderstanding.. And had to go somewhere else. Then we thought about a beach and went there. It is quite strange to go to the shore at the end of October, but we've already got used to being thought of as crazy people.
So, in the end it turned out to be even better than an old house. =)
When I have more time, I will add some photos from this set.)

Twentynine Palms is a small town, no offense intended. This is a panorama of the City Hall building. What I call the Civic Center Complex consists of this building, the library building, and a Veterans Park between them. The street slopes down to the left. I like the heavy duty, low-end Phelps Dodge VHF collinear antenna with a white fiberglass radome on a pole.
Somewhere, there is also a public works yard. I'm not sure where.
Television documentary celebrity Huell Howser, when he was alive, had a place here. He divided his time between a historic Los Angeles apartment, a place in Twentynine Palms, and a hilltop home east of Ludlow off Interstate 40.
Someone told me Marines at the nearby base do not have liberty. The person explained, "They can't go into town and buy a pizza or take the Basin Bus to Palm Springs." I guess there's a good reason for it but I suddenly realized how seldom I see soldiers in town.
I think this is a six-frame panorama.
Firsthand knowledge of the military is no longer something that most Americans — including journalists — have in common, and ignorance on the subject has a cost. The military is increasingly a world apart and, hence, a target for suspicion, conspiracy theory, and fundamental misunderstanding. Oddly, it shares these vulnerabilities with the media, another powerful and exclusive world that invites credibility questions and distrust. The relationship between the military and the media has long been fraught with tension and remains so, and all of us have much to lose from the mishandling and misunderstanding of each other.

Today's photo - "We Stand with Orlando"
In the only way I know how, this photograph represents how I feel about the tragic events that unfolded on this day in Orlando. 50 Souls lost their lives. 50 young souls who had so much more life and gifts to offer the world were silenced in the most horrific way; all because of hate.
Let there peace in America and around the world. Let us stop killing, stop hating, stop misunderstanding each other. Let's educate ourselves and become tolerant of each others views, beliefs, preferences, faith, and just love one another. We're human in the end no matter what. Just Love. Peace and Love - it goes a long way.
Cheers.
