Hoping there weren't too many misunderstandings with yesterday's title. I'm a berry, red leaf, autumn colours, mushroom and all-round nature in Autumn enthusiast ... but I wish I could focus on something else in October, they've taken over, me and Flickr :)
So here's No.2 in my Autumn cliché mini series.
Excerpt from en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ry%C5%8Dan-ji:
Ryōan-ji (Shinjitai: 竜安寺, Kyūjitai: 龍安寺, The Temple of the Dragon at Peace) is a Zen temple located in northwest Kyoto, Japan. It belongs to the Myōshin-ji school of the Rinzai branch of Zen Buddhism. The Ryōan-ji garden is considered one of the finest surviving examples of kare-sansui ("dry landscape"), a refined type of Japanese Zen temple garden design generally featuring distinctive larger rock formations arranged amidst a sweep of smooth pebbles (small, carefully selected polished river rocks) raked into linear patterns that facilitate meditation. The temple and its gardens are listed as one of the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto, and as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The temple's name is synonymous with the temple's famous Zen garden, the karesansui (dry landscape) rock garden, thought to have been built in the late 15th century.
The garden is a rectangle of 248 square meters (2,670 square feet), twenty-five meters by ten meters. Placed within it are fifteen stones of different sizes, carefully composed in five groups; one group of five stones, two groups of three, and two groups of two stones. The stones are surrounded by white gravel, which is carefully raked each day by the monks. The only vegetation in the garden is some moss around the stones.
The garden is meant to be viewed from a seated position on the veranda of the hōjō, the residence of the abbot of the monastery. The stones are placed so that the entire composition cannot be seen at once from the veranda.
The wall behind the garden is an important element of the garden. It is made of clay, which has been stained by age with subtle brown and orange tones. In 1977, the tile roof of the wall was restored with tree bark to its original appearance. When the garden was rebuilt in 1799, it came up higher than before and a view over the wall to the mountain scenery behind came about. At present this view is blocked by trees.
The garden had particular significance for the composer John Cage, who composed a series of works and made visual art works based on it.
Like any work of art, the artistic garden of Ryōan-ji is also open to interpretation or research into possible meanings. Many different theories have been put forward inside and outside Japan about what the garden is supposed to represent, from islands in a stream, a tiger family crossing a river, mountain peaks, to theories about secrets of geometry or the rules of equilibrium of odd numbers. Garden historian Gunter Nitschke wrote: "The garden at Ryōan-ji does not symbolize anything, or more precisely, to avoid any misunderstanding, the garden of Ryōan-ji does not symbolize, nor does it have the value of reproducing a natural beauty that one can find in the real or mythical world. I consider it to be an abstract composition of 'natural' objects in space, a composition whose function is to incite meditation."
The winter season is a time when Eagles gather in the location of Sheffield Mills, Nova Scotia, Canada. Today there were about 35 birds in the area and when there is that many birds there is always some misunderstanding.
(Caly enters the lodge. Cut to inside. She enters, looking around the
hallway as she walks. Although there seems to be activity in the main
area, the hallway and back offices seem abandoned. She spots the name,
R. Hale on the nameplate on one of the doors. The door is ajar and
there's a voice speaking, inside the office.)
Caly: Hello? (pushes the door open a little wider) Excuse me? Sorry to
interrupt -- (she sees a flatscreen on the wall where local news is
talking about a jogger who was discovered dead, in a park.) -- nobody.
I'm interrupting nobody.
(She turns to continue her search, discovering a 20-something man
reaching toward her. Grabbing the sleeve of his hoodie, she yanks it
down, spinning, tossing the empty sleeve around his neck like a rope
then drops her weight to the floor, dragging him down beside her.)
Ronan Hale: I'm a bleeder! I'm a bleeder! Please, don't punch me!
Caly: (expression confused) Why were you sneaking up on me?
Ronan: I wasn't sneaking! I promise! I saw you in my office and I was
just going to touch your shoulder, to get your attention.
Caly: Don't do things like that. It's creepy. (admonishes, releasing the
jacket sleeve and standing, taking a step back from him) And you can get
in trouble, touching people without consent.
Ronan: (getting to his feet) Yes, you absolutely showed me the error of
my ways. (straightens his clothes)
Caly: I'm looking for Ronan.
Ronan: (looking guarded) Why?
Calyn: I was just hired. Sienna told me to find Ronan.
Ronan: Oh. (sighs) That's me. I'm Ronan.
Caly: Ah. (looks at the nameplate on the door and back at him) Your
office. Sorry. I'm Caly.
Ronan: What can I do for you that doesn't involve bruising, Caly?
Caly: Sienna told me to tell you something. "Si said seafood."
Ronan: (sighs) Of course she did. All right, this way.
(to be continued)

The umbrella moved slowly with no other purpose but what it was designed for. Slight movements from right to left, up and down, it was guided by a soul with no direction. It shed winters tears but couldn’t protect its person who carried its weight. No one witnessed the loneliness of this lost soul on this his last stroll. No crowds lined the road to say goodbye. But if he had glanced to the right he would have seen him. Blended in the shadows of winters damp dark moods. He watched from the shelter of a tree. He wasn't there to stop him....He didn’t even care...He was only a piece of a past that couldn't be changed. An observer from days long gone...He didn't cause the loneliness of the Umbrella Soul. The loneliness was built of years of misunderstandings and exhaustion of trying for others. With no answers...Umbrella Soul continued down the road. The end was near... Umbrella Soul turned and saw himself at the roadside. They smiled at each other... then both disappeared.

It's a human sign
When things go wrong
When the scent of her lingers
And temptation's strong
Into the boundary
Of each married man
Sweet deceit comes calling
And negativity lands
Cold cold heart
Hard done by you
Some things look better baby
Just passing through
And it's no sacrifice
Just a simple word
It's two hearts living
In two separate worlds
But it's no sacrifice
No sacrifice
It's no sacrifice at all
Mutual misunderstanding
After the fact
Sensitivity builds a prison
In the final act
We lose direction
No stone unturned
No tears to damn you
When jealousy burns

Io, loro e Lara is a 2010 film directed by and starring Carlo Verdone.
The film was dedicated to Verdone's father, Mario, who died during
the making of the film.
Plot: Carlo Mascolo is a priest on a mission in Africa. Following a profound spiritual crisis, the priest decides to return to Rome, where the rest of his family lives, with the idea of taking a break to reflect and gain clarity.
However, when Carlo arrives home, he is overwhelmed by his family's problems: his elderly father Alberto has married the young Moldovan caregiver Olga, much to the disappointment of his siblings Luigi and Beatrice, who fear for their inheritance. Carlo also has doubts about his father's choice, but everything changes with the sudden death of his stepmother.
The situation takes an unexpected turn with the arrival of Lara, the deceased's daughter: Alberto—now a widower and desperate—orders the girl to live in the family home for a while, where she shares her life with the priest. Initially, a good relationship develops between the two, but this strains when Carlo discovers that the young woman is leading a double life. But this is only the beginning of a long series of misunderstandings...
For a while, at Carlo's father's insistence, Lara
settles in the old family home, alone with the missionary.

My entry for round 5 of the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics. My category was Valinor from The Silmarilion, and I chose to recreate the Kinslaying at Alqualondë. The build was loosely inspired by this image, particularly the landscaping. It took 7 days to complete, and weighs a whopping 26.2 pounds, making it my largest solo build to date! The build process proved to be very challenging at times, especially the water and mossy hillside. Initially I just was using trans clear 1x2 bricks for the water, but it was warping so much I had to add plates to connect it to the bottom layer of water, so that it would attach correctly.
Below is a summary of the Kinslaying at Alqualondë for those of you who are interested.
"The Kinslaying at Alqualondë was the first slaying of Elf by Elf, and was the act that banned the Ñoldor from returning to Aman, the lands of the West, for centuries. When Fëanor intended to leave Valinor, he needed ships to get to Middle-earth without great loss, but the Ñoldor possessed no ships, and Fëanor feared that any delay in their departure would cause the Ñoldor to reconsider. The Ñoldor, led by Fëanor and his sons, tried to persuade their friends, the Teleri of Alqualondë, to give him their ships. However, the Teleri would not help in any way against the will of the Valar, and in fact attempted to persuade their friends to reconsider and stay in Aman. Unwilling to take "no" for an answer, the Ñoldor started taking the ships and sailing them away. This angered the Teleri, and they threatened the Ñoldor with rocks and arrows, and they threw many of Fëanor's followers out of the ships and into the harbor. They also began to attempt to block the harbour; however, it is only slightly possible that the Teleri drew first blood. Then the Ñoldor drew swords, and the Teleri their bows, and there was a bitter fight that seemed evenly matched, if not even in favor of the Teleri, until the second Host of the Ñoldor, led by Fingon, arrived together with some of Fingolfin's people. Misunderstanding the situation, they assumed the Teleri had attacked the Ñoldor under orders of the Valar, and they joined the fight."

This redheaded animal that runs away at full speed and never lets itself be caught was considered in the Christian era as a true incarnation of the Devil. So little consideration is now the sign of a past misunderstanding of the squirrel. Its role is indeed important in the 🌳 oak-beech forest 🌳, where it contributes to disperse the seeds of some trees, but also the spores of mushrooms of which it is fond. Let's consider him rather as a little angel, he who seeds the forest with big trees.

I NEVER PROMISED YOU A ROSE GARDEN...
#AbFav_SUMMERGARDEN
#AbFav_PHOTOSTORY
I started 4 gardens in my life... and always stayed away from Roses, much as I love them.
I was under the gross misunderstanding that they need a lot of care, were in fact 'difficult'.
Now Paul loves them, so one day in the garden center, I chose a rose, and oh, what joy, they work so very well.
And as for care, not much, when I see greenfly, I plant a garlic bulb near the roots, problem solved!
We now have a garden with plenty.
Have a lovely day and thank you for your comments, M, (*_*)

In photo: Juan Driving.
Location: Weymouth Road - Where Accident happened. New Jersey, USA
Monday was a horrible day for us. I had already been very worried about my friend & been to her home, but there was no answer. (I'm so glad that I didn't open that door) Juan dropped me off at work. Everyone was very worried about Steph at work (she was our co-worker and friend, OUR FAMILY). We had discussed doing a wellness check.
So 520PM Juan was on his way to pick me up from work driving 50MPH around the curves on Weymouth Road (very curvy and busy-(especially at 5PM) woodsy road). His axel snapped and the tire came off. But someone up there was really looking out for him.
They say, that if the conditions had been altered in any way.. if it had broken at any other moment.. he'd not be alive today.
He called me at work, while I was actually talking about Steph. He told me what happened, all I could think (and I had not yet seen the car or the location of the accident) all I could think is thank GOD he's alive & FINE! Who cares about the car.. we can fix it or buy a new one. But not Juan. He's okay, it's okay.
So after a long night of finding rides (thank you to his sister and brother in law), calling AAA & getting the car towed to the shop, etc. Around 8 PM we were finally home.
A close friend of Steph and I, and my other coworkers.. (she used to work with us) reached out to me. She told me she called the police at 7:30pm and they called her back at 7:50pm to tell her that they'd be going over to check on Steph soon. I waited up until at little affter 9, but after such a long stressful night (and past couple of days, because of the worry for Steph) I was exhausted. I told someone to message me if they heard anything, but I didn't hear my phone. I fell fast asleep.
Tuesday morning I woke up at 5am and my phone had blown up. "She's gone." seemed to be the main message. & "I'm sorry Jess, are you okay?"
I'm so grateful I didn't open that door. She'd been on the other side. I am having such a hard time handling this, I know in my heart I wouldn't have been able to handle that.
She was battling mental health for some time.. And she had 2+ years clean from substances. But she was hurting.. Even through her jokes, laughs and smiles.. she was hurting deeply. She was such a kind and beautiful soul.
Steph would have given you the shirt off her back, even if it was all that she had. We were so close.. and I was so grateful each & every day that I got to work with her, talk to her, be her close friend... She was amazing in every single way. But no matter what she did, she couldn't escape the pain.. these demons that followed her around and ate at her every single day.
Her pain was too great. And she couldn't deal anymore. It go too bad for her.
I'm trying to deal, and remind myself (I think we all are) that nothing we could have done or said would have fixed her. She was hurting so deep, we would have just been delaying the inevitable and she had made up her mind. But it's very hard to tell yourself this.. Especially when you were one of the last people to talk to her.. and you knew her pain in your heart. She had told me so much, and I felt it - in her.
I can say now, I am grateful that she is no longer hurting.
*My last photo/post was about her, as many of you know. I'm sorry to say, that she didn't make it. But I appreciate all of your love, support and prayers.. and she does too!
Her family is having a hard time with this unexpected expense, so I donated what I could to her fund.. And if you guys could share this on your facebook, *if you can* I'd be extremely appreciative. It would mean the world to me, to just share it.. *the link below* to help her family.

________________
The last couple of converstations that Steph and I had, I just cannot get them out of my mind. She was saying goodbye.. and it breaks my heart. I knew it was bad, (all of the people closest to her did), and we all tried our hardest... but it makes you wonder.. Could we have tried harder? It's something that is going to haunt me for a long time.
◻️And I'm over here waiting for them to say it was a mistake & she's gonna come running thru the door at work.. smiling & thanking us all for caring so much but letting us know it was a misunderstanding and that she's okay.
But that will never happen.
**Something like this happened before, but she was okay. We found her. So I thought this was like last time, but it wasn't.**
MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS IS SO IMPORTANT!
& It goes hand in hand with addiction and recovery, many times.
If you have a friend or loved one struggling with either one... or both. CHECK ON THEM! Even if they say they're okay and appear to be living their best life. (Like she was). Because you never know. Mental health has a VERY fine line.. and all of that can change in a matter of minutes.
"
Check in on your friends guys. Clean time doesn't make pain go away. Achievements don't silence self hate. Even the strong are weak at times. Don't forget that."-Tre Ogilvie *great friend of Steph's*

Today makes it a year since I opened my Flickr account. It is always difficult to begin in a place like this when you don't know anyone who has been around here for a while. I believe Flickr is like a big drawer where there are thousands of good photographs and people to be discovered. I'd like to thank my brother-in-law Jesús, who introduced me to Flickr and helped me in my beginnings.
I would also like to thank all the people who visit my photostream regularly, those who visit it occasionally, those who like leaving comments, etc.... because thanks to all these people I have the strength and the motivation to keep going.
This picture that I want to share with you, possibly represents one of the photographic variations I like the most. It's taken in the open, where the weather conditions play an important part and you have to adjust to them to capture something special. I have been thinking for a while which picture I would like to publish today and this has been my choice; the rest of the pictures that were in my final selection will also be published soon.
In this past year I have had good times and also misunderstandings. I got to know a group of people with whom I've shared more and become friends, of which I am very proud; among these: Gema, Eber, Pilar, Teresa, Toñy, Anna, Nathalie, Javi, Raúl, Juanma, Jesús, Rafael, Jesús CM. With some of them I've shared techniques, opinions or simply special moments and I have even met a few in person.
I hope to be able to go on sharing the world as I see it through my camera lense. Being myself passionate about photography, I enjoy looking at your pictures and in many cases, learning from you.

I gave up on trying to photograph this Stonechat because it kept luring me further and further away from my intended direction, so I set back off towards my car. It then flew 100m across the corner of the field and landed on this post just in front of me as if to say "Oh go on then" - so I took some shots in the end!
I was just trying to work out why the RSPB lists Stonechat as Saxicola torquata and everywhere else seems to use Saxicola rubicola. According to Wikipedia (all I've had time to search at the moment) In the past, the European stonechat was generally considered conspecific with the Siberian stonechat and African stonechat, lumped together as common stonechat S. torquatus. A 2002 study using mtDNA cytochrome b sequences and nuclear DNA microsatellite fingerprinting evidence strongly supported their separation into distinct species. Due to a misunderstanding of the rules of Zoological nomenclature, for a short time the name S. torquatus was erroneously used for the European stonechat rather than the African stonechat.
The field of psychiatry and neurology are rapidly changing. The revolution in research brought about by the discovery of non-invasive means of looking inside the brain has resulted in a rediscovery of the fundamental truth that the serious mental illnesses are the result of genetic, chemical, electrical, structural, or traumatic problems in the brain. More and more, we are discovering that Alzheimer's Disease, Tourette Syndrome, Seizure Disorders, Schizophrenia, Anxiety Disorders, and Depression are brain illnesses and deserve equivalent levels of treatment and compassion.
But, because we cannot know about nor provide information about all brain illnesses and traumas, we are especially concerned about Anxiety and Panic Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Severe Depression, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, and Schizophrenia which are among the most devastating of the brain illnesses and about which there is still great misunderstanding and prejudice.
While other brain illnesses--from Alzheimer's to Seizure Disorder--can be equally debilitating, we find that the illnesses we are most concerned about continue to need our especial care and concern because of the misconceptions, discrimination, and potential for destruction that are involved in having or loving someone who has one of these five categories of brain illness.

explore #1 thank you all!
Here it is, the last in the series "Welcome to the Psych Ward". This has really been some of my best, and personal favorite, work on flickr I've done yet. I've learned so much and realized how truly, utterly, frighteningly complex the human mind is. I want to thank everyone so much for all of the views, comments, faves, suggestions, ideas, support, and love. You all are just too amazing for words. HUGE thanks to anyone who followed the project since the start.
I apologize if you had a mental illness suggestion i coulnt get around to or if my brain totally died and i just plain didnt have any ideas.
SO now when you hear about someone with some mental illness, maybe youll have a bit more interest to check it out. Cos were all morbid like that :)
I hope all of you learned something too
The difficulties of being a viking tribe heiress when your dad is always getting you wrong presents. xD The viking princess love murders, so do not upset her!
This is a very old idea, I always wanted to do something with the idiom "to offer the heart and hand" - I kind of forgot that the English equivalent is just "to offer one's hand", which sounds even more strange to me (I can understand why heart, but not why hand, and why only one hand? who gets the second hand then? is it a right or left hand? so many questions).
Of course, making a proposal scene would be too easy and not original (and actually I already did such a scene a few years ago), not even mentioning that the heart would be, well, inside, but the idea was to take it out literally. xD Don't look at picture like that - if someone's offers some body parts of theirs, then someone else, especially someone who understands everything literally, can take them, right? Why else to offer them if you're not ready to part with them? xD
And this is why vikings. I just wondered where it would be appropriate to place such a bloody scenario. Well, there's a lot of scary legends about vikings, why it couldn't be one of them? ;)
The idea is old, but I didn't try to actually build it for a few years, cause I really hoped to buy either 21343 Viking Village or 31132 Viking Ship (though I didn't really like the ship and I think 7018 is superior in so many ways, but I want a new Fenris wolf), but then I realised that chances for getting either are low. :( So I tried my best to build a log house with little amount of Reddish Brown parts I have.
I was going to post it yesterday evening, of course, but I get sleepy too quick cause I was taking another picture a night before, so I decided to rest instead. :)

This post was forwarded to me and I'm forwarding it to anyone who cares about what happens at Little Mountain...Please support us!!!
The ball has finally dropped on the ancient trees at the base of Little Mountain in Errington, just outside of Parksville, BC.
For everyone who wants to save the habitat of these beautiful little owls and of course the Old Growth in our region, please come and support us!! Please help the pygmy owls survive in our area...Keep the Old Growth Trees below little mountain. Meeting Friday and 3:00 see details below.
For the past 4 years treaty negotiations prevented locals from getting a clear answer from BC Provincial Government until
TODAY!!!
The Ancient Forest at the Base of Little Mountain (below the cliff where people enjoy the view) is a rare grove of Old-Growth Douglas fir trees (between 300 to 700 years old) that has survived fire, logging, and tons of garbage being dumped from above. It has historical cultural and archaeological significance and is frequented by many locals for a wide variety of activities.
These ancient trees, which few people know survived 150 years of logging, are about to be logged UNLESS the public stands up for this JEWEL. This beautiful grove consists of approximately 100 old-growth Douglas fir growing through-out the giant boulders. Making this 'grove' a significant portion of the less than 0.05% of old-growth Coastal Douglas fir left standing in British Columbia. Several rare and endangered plant communities thrive in this area.
WITH NO PUBLIC NOTIFICATION these trees are now slated to be logged!!!
The back-ground story is difficult to understand but the reality will face locals very soon.
A public walk through the area will start:
3pm Friday March 26
Bellevue Road past Ruffles Road
49°17'35.5"N 124°20'15.3"W
Masks and social distancing must be respected
Please forward attached poster.
If you have more details please share them with me.

AI Overview (Factettes)
The user query "'Nikolai Gogol's Chickens'" does not refer to a specific known work but is likely a misunderstanding. "Nikolai Gogol's" is a reference to the author, and "chickens" may be a misunderstanding of a theme in one of his stories, such as the grotesque nature of his work, which he was known for. The query may be a misunderstanding of the title "Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka" or another of his many famous works.
It's also possible that the user is confusing Nikolai Gogol with another author whose work is about chickens, such as the 2012 novel 'When Chickens Fly' by Russian author Dmitry Lipskerov.
Nikolai Gogol's works sometimes feature chickens, most notably in the story "St. John's Eve," where they are mentioned in the context of folk tales and story-gathering. While not a central theme throughout his work, chickens are an example of the everyday, sometimes bizarre, elements found in his stories, which often use the grotesque and dark humor to explore the absurdities of life.
"St. John's Eve": This story is about a man who is tormented by his memory of killing another man and tries to rid himself of the ghosts of the past. During his torment, a "chicken-fancier" appears and tells him that he heard the story from a scribe, a character Gogol satirizes as a low-level journalist who gathers stories and peddles them for money.
Gogol's Style: Chickens, in this context, serve as an example of how Gogol weaves mundane or grotesque elements into his fantastical and satirical stories. This aligns with his broader use of the grotesque and his ability to turn literary conventions on their heads.
Symbolism: The mention of chickens could be a subtle reference to their common association with rural life and superstitions, which were recurring themes in his work.
There is no known artwork titled "Nikolai Gogol's Chickens" by the Spanish painter Francisco Goya. The title likely results from a confusion of Gogol's name with the artist Goya, as both are well-known figures, and the surname Gogol itself comes from the Ukrainian word for the goldeneye duck, often called a "gogol," not a chicken. Nikolai Gogol, an important Russian author, is famous for works like the satirical novel Dead Souls and short stories such as "The Overcoat" and "The Nose". Francisco Goya was a Spanish romantic painter and printmaker whose works include the Disasters of War series and the "Black Paintings".
Nikolai Gogol was 11 years old in 1820, when this was purportedly painted. Goya was 78 and already beginning his exile in Bordeaux.
They never met, until Marcel introduced them in Infrathin.

Often this small Newt is misnamed in English - also in our Zoo - as Emperor Spotted Newt. That 'Emperor' is a misunderstanding of the Latin specific 'kaiseri' which stands for the expert on Iranian fish who published work in Denmark, E.W. Kaiser. Our Newt was described and named scientifically by Karl Patterson Schmidt (1890-1957). It hails from the southern Zagros Mountains in Iranian Luristan where it's an endangered species. Schmidt had an astute and persevering scientific mind. When he was lethally bitten by a venomous snake in his care he kept meticulous notes on the effects of its poison on his body and refused medical care in order to complete them. No fear for us for being poisoned by our harmless Newt.
I had to notice about a slight misunderstanding with my yesterday post. I was not in doubt about the picture itself, it was more telling a story about the picture you see on my monitor here.....

Oldie but a goodie. Freestyle painted in 1994 with Chen under the south Minneapolis Tracks. This piece was really significant at the time and was a relatively different style then people were used to seeing in Minneapolis. I basically rocked a piece in what I consider to be a style in the culture of Cali graffiti at the time. It wasn't as good as what I was used to seeing but I was so infuenced at the time by writers that I had grown up admiring like Risky, Power, Slick, Hex, Dream (L.A.), Green and Charlie that it came out in my style. Originally, I painted with Chen but he never finished and I did. Funny thing is, while painting this, I had a younger writer (now a famous T.C. writer) and his Mom, stand behind me and watch me and ask me questions the whole time. I didn't mind. At them time, I was just flattered to have anyone take notice. Also, when I came back a few days later to try to get a photo, I didn't realize that there was a group of people sitting up on the embankment behind the wall. When I took the photo, I heard some people start screaming and yelling at me. I began to walk away and noticed that a small mob had decided to attempt to snatch my camera and jump me. As they approached, I took off running to gain a distance on them. I figured I had a better shot at fighting one or two that followed before the rest caught up. I ran about 10 blocks with some of them on my tail. I finally stopped when it was me and only one other dude. I grabbed the biggest rock I could find and quickly turned and started to go for him. As I got about 5 feet away, he realized that he was alone and that I had now become the aggressor and he stopped dead in his tracks. I think that he had thought that I would be afraid of him. With a giant rock in my hand, I wasn't afraid of shit. He paused and I started to threaten him. He couldn't understand me because he only spoke Spanish but knew I meant business. Right about then, a female approached and intervened. She stated, "He thought you were trying to take a picture of us. We are homeless and drug addicts. We were using drugs and he thought you took a picture of us. Don't hurt him." I told her to tell him I was only taking pictures of my graffiti. She did. He quickly changed his demeaner and when I saw him change to a nonaggressive attitude, I put the rock down. We clearly had a stand off that was based off of a misunderstanding. He looked me over and then they turned and walked back to join their group and I climbed the bridge embankment I was at and went home. It was A really intense sitiuation and I am glad that nothing bad ended up happening. It could have been bad on both our ends. Crazy times!
Mercury Retrograde comes to an end later today (June 22), and not a moment too soon. Life has simply been more challenging over the past three weeks or so as anything to do with communication has simply faltered. These retrograde periods effect people in different ways, some worse than others. For me it's been a series of misadventures with computer apps inexplicably failing, emails that simply won't send, issues with cell phones and more than my fair share of mechanical failures, back orders and delays. I'm less prone to (although not immune from) the interpersonal misadventures that occasion the retrograde. People tend to become argumentative often as a result of simple misunderstandings. You say one thing but it is interpreted in an entirely different way. And the hallmark of the retrograde is the careless mistake. I think I'm less prone to the latter problems because I take great pains to speak clearly and double check my work during the retrograde phase. These are things I feel I have some control over, unlike the computer and technical issues that seem to lurk behind every corner. Even still, things get by me. One irony of the retrograde is not discovering the mistakes until we exit the retrograde. Many a time I've breathed a premature sigh of relief that I got through it, only to discover something I did wrong days or even weeks later. Certainly things go wrong all the time, not just during retrograde. It's just that things are more prone to breakdown during these periods. And there is often a cascading effect where one minor thing results in something more severe or damaging. People sometimes ask if I seriously believe in this "stuff". Personally I don't believe it's subject to a belief system, but that's just me talking. I lien the retrograde to a curve in the metaphorical road of life. To me it calls for taking one's foot off of the gas for a few weeks to ensure that we don't run off the road. Retrogrades are a wonderful time to reflect, just a poor time to execute. Life begins to get back on the rails tomorrow.
Ever since Eve gave Adam the apple, there has been a misunderstanding between the sexes about gifts!! LOL!!

The Castril palace (also House of Castril) is a Renaissance style palace located in Sacromonte, a district of the Spanish city of Granada. Nowadays it hosts the Archaeological Museum of Granada.
The house is nailed in the Race of the Darro, in the old Arab district of Ajsaris, seat of 16th century's granadine nobility. The palace is one of the best Renaissance palaces of Granada and belonged to the family of Hernando de Zafra, secretary of Catholic monarchs who participated actively in reconquering it from the Muslim hands during the Reconquista.
At the top of the facade the date of its foundation is recorded: 1539. This work has been attributed to Sebastián de Alcántara, one of the most outstanding disciples of Diego de Siloé. In 1917, the Castril palace was acquired by arabist and orientalist Leopoldo Eguílaz y Yanguas to make it a definitive location of the Archaeological Museum of Granada.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castril_Palace
There is also an old legend about the building, dating back to the time when it was inhabited in Arab times, which refers to a mysterious lady in white who appears from time to time, the result of a misunderstanding between the father of a beautiful girl who lived in the building and her supposed lover, which triggered the father's fury and subsequently led to her hanging and walling herself up on the side balcony of the building. On this blind balcony one can read a slogan that reads: "Waiting for heaven's justice", which could refer to "waiting for heaven's justice", probably related to the words that the supposed lover uttered before being hanged.
A few of my highly esteemed contacts have recently taken to publicly shaming and embarrassing me in front of God and everyone in the Flickr universe by suggesting that my photos had consistently become too dark. (You know who you are!)
Looking back, they are probably correct, my justification twofold:
1) I am a huge fan of the Hudson River artists and they tend to be "darkish" resulting in a conscious (or subconscious) effort to mimic them, however ineffectively; 2) More likely and with far less pretentiousness, I found a new processing thing which has obviously taken over my initial click.
For those of you who have endured this period of dreary output, I appreciate both your forebearance and your loyalty. I understand that the world today needs some brightening for cripes sake, so here is an attempt to lighten things up a bit, along with a promise that I'll make every attempt to avoid such ruts in the future. As always, public humiliation and brutal criticism is something I eagerly anticipate as insightful in my continuing efforts to try to please, and I encourage continued exposure of my shortcomings.

Happy I could frame this moment with Luce spreading her wings, just about to take off. This is the conclusive photo of my shooting as, after this frame, the entire Family decided the posing was concluded and begun to fly around in my studio.
By clicking twice the zoom function, you will see them about twice their actual size. Advise: to rate a macro as well as a close-up in all its details, the photo should be attentively watched and magnified from a PC desktop, never from small screens of tablets nor from even tinier screens as smartphones...And, oh boys, if you don't watch a picture from a large monitor, you will never notice nor realize how many errors there can be in an apparently fine pic, included editing mistakes!
Notice for the viewers: there is a technical misunderstanding I think on photos that are surrounded by a solid colour space, like, in my case, the black background. This does definitely NOT prevent the photo to be a close-up or a macro* (*even if Not academically meant). In this, for instance, the parrots appear double their real size and, although I humbly tend to define it as a close-up, it is by all means a macro, no matter if the subjects don't completely fill the space. Surrounding them with black (true existing background, no cropping) is my original way to naturally obtain a more balanced image for the eyes and to avoid to frame my photos with inelegant thick black or white frames.
Furthermore, since my parrots belong to the Nature, I tend to rarely photograph them close to man-made objects preferring, instead, natural displays like trunks or branches that are those where my parrots usually rest and play, free in situ in their usual environment!

'Enter Juliet From The Rear'
On 30 June 2019, Kombiverkehr launched a nice campaign on the occasion of the company's 50th anniversary. As a special service, freight train DGS 69050 from Munich East shunting yard to Frankfurt Main (East) UBF was put into service. It was a 540 metre long train loaded with 35 different semi-trailers, tank containers and swap bodies of the best customers of Kombiverkehr. It was suitably hauled by 139 135, which was specially designed for this occasion in an anniversary design. Lokomotion's 185 665, which is already kept in Kombiverkehr's design, ran cold behind it. Of course it was awaited on its way by many photographers and trainspotters. One of the first pictures of the successful event was taken at the Nockherberg in Munich. A meanwhile historical curious detail was the lettering of the 139 135 on this day. In the foreground there was a misunderstanding with the model railway manufacturer Piko, who wants to bring a model of the locomotive as 139 310 onto the market. As a solution the 139 135 was equipped with a large "310" on front and side...
