Busy as a bee-2006

Kwanon feels like a sailor on a warship today, as he visited the Pepsi Tall Ships Festival at Navy Pier in Chicago. Although he did get his picture on a cannon, the ships alone just wouldn't be enough to make that one great unique photo, so he brought some props with. The Camera staged a compass and sextant in various spots throughout the ships. A lady asked if she could photograph his sextant. That's a first, being asked by a stranger if she could photograph his photo props!

Kwanon checked out the carnies setting up the carnival in town tonight. A closed carnival being set up makes for some good photography. Some rides, like the Dizzy Dragons, were still disassembled in traveling mode. This is the perfect time to get up close and personal with a dragon, which Kwanon can't do when the carnival is running.

Kwanon is digital imaging a different type of negative again today: Minox 8x11 film. He learned they were shot in a subminiature camera originally designed in 1936 by Walter Zapp, who wanted to invent a camera small enough so that it could always be carried with you. Minox gained popularity as a spy camera in the 1940s.

Kwanon feels a connection to these miniature negatives, as they are more representational to his own size!

Vollenda is trying her lens at Smart Phone photography. She attached a macro cellphone lens to her phone and had fun looking at objects up close. Here, she was shooting pictures of George Washington's eye on a dollar bill.

Kwanon was startled when he opened the door to reveal a skeleton in the bathroom. The guy was reading an issue of Popular Photography magazine from December 1956. Judging by his bony condition, he has been on the toilet reading the issue since it came out! Kwanon couldn't help but take a peek at the page the skeleton was on.

Peles,Sinaia - 2009

Having cabin fever from not doing any on-location photo shoots lately, Kwanon took the train to Riverside tonight. While passing by on the train, the Camera has always been fascinated with this tower, so he wanted to travel to Riverside specifically to get up close and take pictures of it.

Vollenda dug out her old chiropractic neck wedge this morning to do some neck stretches. She somehow managed to pull a neck muscle, which might be from carrying her camera with her all the time around her neck. Oh no!
