Producto:

A heavily damaged MINI awaits its fate.
Note the CAT C marking on the windscreen. The inspecting engineer considered the vehicle repairable, however the costs exceeded the Pre Accident Value of the vehicle. This marker is not an indication that a vehicle is un-roadworthy, but that the insurance company involved in the claim has made the decision not to repair it purely for economic reasons.
The damage level varies greatly for a Cat C vehicle. The damage may be quite extensive (but not structural) on a fairly new car, however in contrast the damage may be very light on an old car. This vehicle may have been submerged in water up to the floor level.
This category is purely an economically constructed total loss. It simply states that the insurer chose to not repair the vehicle for economic reasons.

How to explain the "Mini-Super Lambananas," especially when "mini-super" sounds like an instant oxymoron?
A large sculpture was made for a 1998 art exhibition in Liverpool (the original "super-Lambanana"). It was meant to look like a cross between a lamb and a banana and serve as a comment on the dangers of genetic engineering. Others have observed that lamb and bananas were also two things shipped out of and into Liverpool's busy docks over the years. In 2010, eight 2-meter-high replicas were commissioned by the city as permanent works of art, each painted by a different group of people from the community. In 2014, four of the eight mini-sculptures were moved outside the Museum of Liverpool in Pier Head. I snapped this image in July 2016. In my brief time wandering around Pier Head it was clear that children in particular are attracted to the brightly painted sculptures. They probably get more than their fair share of wear. It seems that at least one of them in this image could use a bit of new paint.
A peek of the Tate Liverpool is barely visible in the background.

A MINI estate dwarfs a Ford Fiesta parked next to it.
Dr. Alex Moulton, the designer of the suspension system for the original two-door Mini (and later Moulton bicycles), spoke about the new Mini in an interview with MiniWorld magazine:
"It's enormous - the original Mini was the best packaged car of all time - this is an example of how not to do it. It's huge on the outside and weighs the same as an Austin Maxi. The crash protection has been taken too far. I mean, what do you want, an armoured car? It is an irrelevance insofar as it has no part in the Mini story".

The Pulitzer Prize-winning automotive journalist Dan Neil has suggested that, with the introduction of the Countryman, Mini had pushed the marque beyond relevance by making a car so long, wide and tall it forsook the inner logic of the brand: excellent handling in a tiny size.
