Tumpak Sewu is a tiered waterfall that is located between the Pronojiwo District in East Java, Indonesia. The waterfall is overshadowed by Semeru, an active volcano and the highest mountain in Java. As stated in legend, Semeru was transplanted from India to create the island of Java. Tumpak Sewu means "a thousand waterfalls." From above it looks like the tree of life, from below it is immensely powerful, and from all angles, it is quite simply mindblowing and one of the most amazing locations in East Java.

A Kandy bound local service lead by a W3 accelerates out of Perandiya Junction towards the iron Mahaweli bridge. The amount of truly ancient infrastructure still present in Sri Lanka is mindblowing, may it never change!
The Soo Locks at Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, allow ships to travel between Lake Superior and the lower Great Lakes. The locks pass an average of 10,000 ships per year. This is achieved in spite of the locks' being closed during the winter, from January through March, when ice shuts down shipping on the Great Lakes. The winter is used to inspect and maintain the locks.
The locks bypass the rapids of the St. Marys River where the water falls 7 meters (21 feet) from Lake Superior. Sault Ste. Marie (pronounced Soo Saint Ma-ree) gives its name to both the Canadian and U.S. cities at the site, in Ontario and Michigan, respectively. The Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge between the U.S. and Canada permits vehicular traffic to pass over the locks.
In layman's terms this is how it operates: a large ship enters the locks from Lake Superior whose waters are 21 feet higher than Lake Huron’s waters are. After the ship is in the lock they close the lock behind the ship and lower the water in the lock 21 feet. When this is completed they open the lock to Lake Huron and the ship leaves the locks. This process takes about 1 hour. It was an awesome sight to witness this. The ship in this picture was 720 feet long filled with canola seeds heading to Newfoundland.

late afternoon, first shot with brand new Canon EOS5ds r/Zeiss Distagon 15mm combo. This may not be the best shot to show it but the increased resolution of the 5dsr is simply mindblowing!
I meet @petercoxphotographynz from New Zealand on our workshop in the dolomites. He is a really nice guy and a very good landscape photographer. Here he is volunteering as a model in the foreground and to show thee mindblowing scale of the dolomite mountains we were in.
I stopped at Tongaporotu on the way back from hiking at Mount Taranaki. It was mindblowing to see the changes that had happened to this extremely dynamic coast since my last visit less than two years ago. This coast suffers the full impact of the prevailing westerly winds from the rough Tasman Sea. The elephant's trunk had collapsed, this freestanding arch had been created from the retreating coastal cliffs and the separation of a new third sister out of the eroding cliff has been completed. I was travelling alone and wanted a human scale in the photo. Several sprints into the picture later I had a selfie under the new arch.
29.9.2018 Update: On a return visit 7 months later I found this arch had collapsed and there were only two separate sea stacks left, a big one on the right and a small one on the left. See the remnants in a recent photo taken from further away: flic.kr/p/29aos7y
WOW, what a hell of a sunrise I experienced at the magnificent Forth Rail Bridge in Edinburgh on my recent visit to Scotland. I met up with local fellow photographer Gavin Duncan and he very kindly showed me round the Fife coastline, starting with this location down by Port Edgar for sunrise.
I was so lucky with the weather during my five days travelling up from East Lothian and this sunrise was mindblowing. I love the inclusion of the cruise ship on the left hand side of the image and I imagined what those onboard must have witnessed as the boat left port.

My first trip to the Dolomites in Italie has just been mindblowing!
Rough mountains, clear lakes and beautiful nature wherever you look :)
It has not rained here at all in a very long time. The grass is brown, I haven't ever had grass this brown. I miss green grass! :(
this place is one reason why i got interested in lost places. finally i got the chance to go there, it was truly amazing, this architecture is mindblowing and very unique.
but a mindblowing view. this was a valley near geirangerfjord. what a sight.
i am missing norway all the time.
Image captured at the Faroe Islands in autumn. An other worldly place where all seasons come in the same day. This was exceptionally tricky due to low light and winds gusting at 40 knots. Had to tie the tripod down. If you like to travel, it is a place you will never forget.
Our first expedition on the Zodiacs in the narrow channel known as "The Gullet" was mindblowing. We floated quietly, reverently among massive icebergs and glaciers that reached down to water's edge, in awe of the gorgeous natural spectacle that is Antarctica. There aren't enough words to describe the shades of blue that we gazed upon.

Twice a year, for a few days at a time, the sun rises behind the Golden Gate Bridge, as viewed from the spot up in the Marin Headlands with the Transamerica lineup. Shot through a thin fog or haze, it'd be mindblowing - however, on a clear day like today, it's still quite handsome.

My son and grandaughter and grandson explore the caves ahead of me. This is just inside the entrance. We only had a couple of weak torches with us, but if someone chose to illuminate the caves properly it would be absolutely amazing. With just a weak torch I had no idea of the height of the cavern or the mindblowing patterns on the walls. It really deserves to be 'professionally' set up into a 'World Class' visitor attraction..........except when it is raining and there is a risk of drowning

Photo taken on at then end of a long hike to the outs point of Vagar, one of the Faroe Islands. A truly other worldly place. Shear cliffs rising straight out of the ocean and weather changing from sunshine to roaring storms in a heartbeat. The rocks, the waves and the wind make for a mindblowing spectacle. Praia da Ursa (Ursa Beach) is considered the most beautiful beach of Portugal and one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. This picture was taken just when the sun has been disappearing for that day.

This summer I was in Canada for the first time - and it was so absolutely amazing! I did a lot of hiking in the beautiful nature and found a lot of mindblowing places.
This shot is showing the Lower Joffre Lake - I swear that the water was so pure green as it looks like on this picture. The hike to Joffre Lake is worth every step. I really miss this landscape.
Entrance to the "Wave" in Southern Utah, USA, in September 2002. Thunderstorms a couple days earier resulted in this pool of water blocking the entrance. We explored the area barefooted, since the fine structures of sandstone forming the wave are very delicate, they would crumble under boots. I have been to many beautiful places, but this is in my opinion the most amazing of them all. The combination of shapes and colors of these rocks is just mindblowing.
