NHN's plow extra works south along Milton Three Ponds in Milton, NH with GP18 1801 bracketed by a pair of MBTA Russell plows. A fresh snowfall the day before left the northern end of the line pretty well buried in snow, so it made for a good show. With plenty of ice on the lake I figured the 88 mile marker would be my best bet at avoiding a crowd.
HTmT 😊😊😍
Niko had a wonderful tree house at the end of our garden, but Hurricane Milton destroyed it. So he built this new one and just added the new seat in the second photograph. He is quite innovative and talented and loves to find new things to make.
With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe, and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

A trio of clean four axles adorned in primarily St. Paddy's Day green, power NHN D8 south past Milton Pond on March 14, 2024. The train of aggregates originated in Ossipee and is now running close to the New Hampshire/Maine state line, bound ultimately for Dover, (Boston) but not before working at Rochester first. Once the crew got to Rochester, so too did the foam brigade, so I broke off chase quite quickly.
An early morning view across the valleys of western Dartmoor towards Milton Combe, captured from the summit of Brent Tor and at 190 mm. The mist lingered on for a good hour, giving me plenty of time to experiment with different compositions and focal lengths. Thanks for stopping by.
An early start on Sunday let me catch this scene at Laigh Milton viaduct in Ayrshire which is the world's earliest surviving railway viaduct on a public railway.

Taken in Milton Country Park in Milton which is now a suburb of Cambridge. So many of the small villages seem to be swamped and combined into the city and often lose their character.

Registered in February 1965.
was a Benedictine foundation, but only part of the church now survives and is used as the Milton Abbey School chapel. A college of secular canons was founded here by King Athelstan, in 933, but this foundation was replaced in 964 by a Benedictine monastery by King Edgar. The medieval church burned down in 1309, and although rebuilding started straight away it did not reach its present size until about 1400.
One of the church's benefactors was Sir John Tregonwell, whose family came into the possession of the buildings in 1540 following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1539.
In 1752, the buildings were bought by the Damer family in 1771, to make way for a new house and landscaped estate, the 1st Baron Milton (later 1st Earl of Dorchester) demolished the remaining abbey buildings, keeping only part of the church as a private chapel, and the adjacent market town of Milton (creating Milton Abbas to rehouse the former inhabitants) in 1780. The new house was designed by William Chambers and the gardens by Capability Brown.
Venho do sol
a vida inteira no sol
sou filha da terra do sol
hoje escuro, o meu futuro
é luz e calor...
De um mundo novo eu sou
e um mundo novo será
mais claro
mas é no velho que procuro
um jeito mais fácil de lidar
com a força que o sol me dá
Canto...
(de uma canção de Milton Nascimento)
We went out chasing the mist this morning but it was quicker than us. This was taken towards the sun and looks better, I think, in monochrome.

Connects Madison, Indiana to Milton, Kentucky while crossing the Ohio River. A quicker construction project involved building a new bridge on temporary piers, then demolishing the old bridge while saving it's footings and finally sliding the new bridge over on the old bridge's resurfaced piers.
Milton Mausoleum
The Milton Mausoleum is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Milton, Nottinghamshire.
The building was commissioned by the 4th Duke of Newcastle in memory of his wife. It was designed by Sir Robert Smirke and completed in 1833. Most of the building served as a family mausoleum, with the nave as a parish church.
The building closed as a parish church in the 1950's and is now under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust
