I began Day 4 of SXSW 2014 with another 9:30am SXSW Interactive session -- If Content Is King, Who Is Sheriff? -- at the Austin Convention Center. The panel was hosted by Gail Marie of McKinney; Kristina Eastham of Digitaria Interactive; Mike Schmidt of National Geographic; and Robert Hernandez of USC Annenberg. You can view the team's presentation (or at least a portion thereof) on SlideShare.

So I just finished putting a portfolio together for a class at the U and this is one of the pieces I did for it. It is a montage of pictures I have taken of the Utah Football MUSS and the games dating back to the 2008 season. There are 156 pictures in all that make up this piece.

This is a center for administration at the of the University of Utah. It is located at the top of Presidents Circle which was part of the campus when the school was established in 1850. It was recently renovated to keep it up to building codes.

Gotta respect a Mike Schmidt statue at Citizens Bank Park, in Philadelphia, Penn.

Looking down to Lower Red Pine Lake from Upper Red Pine Lake during a late summer morning...

Rain or shine the University of Utah student section known as the MUSS will be there cheering on the Utes at Rice Eccles Stadium. And every time the Utes score someone is tossed up and down as many time as the team has points on the score board. The MUSS is truly one of the craziest student sections in the country.

Utah vs TCU: I have never heard the fans cheer louder than they did at the beginning of this game on November 6th, 2010. The MUSS was quite the sight to behold. They are going to take the Pac 12 by storm starting fall of 2011.

This late afternoon hike along the Wasatch front led to a great view and plenty of good spots to throw rocks as we pleased.

After every false start by a visiting team at Rice Eccles Stadium The MUSS puts up a sign with a five on it to signify the five yard penalty. Each time the Utah defense and deafening noise of The MUSS help cause a false start, a new sign is added to a running tally of signs that count the total false starts caused in the season thus far. The fives can be seen hanging below the first row of the student section.

I snapped a few shots of some of the slides that intrigued me; this one featured a handy reverse image-search tool called TinEye. This is a panorama that stretches 6 feet long in length at its full size. It looks much better as a Larger image!

The MUSS, at the University of Utah, is one of the best student section in college football.

The Utes played against the Oregon Ducks at Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon Sept. 19th 2009. The Ducks will be traveling to Utah to play in Rice Eccles Stadium in 2011.

At the beginning of each semester at the University of Utah the fraternity Sigma Gamma Chi puts on a carnival for Rush Week. Each chapter of the fraternity runs some kind of booth or something for people to come enjoy and check out. The Pi chapter of Sigma Gamma Chi has a mechanical bull every semester and it is always a favorite.

This is a shot I took a wile ago that I have just never gotten around to editing and posting till now. It is of the Motel located on Foothill Dr. and about 2300 East, right across the street from Foothill Village. I am interested to hear what people think of this shot. I think I might go back and shoot it again sometime.

Mike Schmidt, Demitri Marmash, Mike Jones and Marcus Busekrus

I know nearly-precisely when this shot was taken... it was on July 30, 1995 when both Mike Schmidt and Richie Ashburn were being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. I know the exact date b/c I was in the crowd for the ceremony!! (The trip was my high school graduation present from my family - great timing!!)

Schmitty made it in on his first year of eligibility. Whitey's induction was many years in the making, not because he was a borderline Hall of Famer, but because he played during the 50s and 60s when his outstanding stats were continuously overshadowed by the big-name players of his era. It was only fitting that they went in on the same day. The absolute sea of Phillies red in the crowd was just awesome to see. At the time, we set the record for the largest crowd to watch an induction ceremony. That record may still stand...

We took a weekend trip up to Bear Lake recently and got in some good early morning skiing as the sun was rising and before anyone was awake. Such a great trip to get in this summer.
