Red Knots stop off in Delaware Bay to refuel on their migration from the southern end of South America to north of Hudson's Bay. The peak of the migrating population was last week but there are still many feeding on horseshoe crab eggs.

The fall migration of Monarch Butterflies came through in mid-September. I had just enough time to get a few shots before they were gone. Sadly, these were the only Monarchs I saw all summer.

The elevators bring the fish up and release them in a pen, where the public can watch them. The then move past the science station and head back out to the river. The Robert E. Barrett Fishway has made major changes to the fish entry channel and, for the last three years, there has been a major increase in the number of Shortnose Sturgeon making the trip.
