Midsummer in Kentish meadows taken with a Leica M3 and Summilux-M 50 ASPH on Fuji Superia 400 through an ND8 filter.
Midsummer is celebrated in Sweden in grand style!
With dancing, singing, playing, flowers, midsummerpole,,feasting, eating, drinking until morning comes. Here it is celebrated by the "Swedish community" in Munich.

Canon EOS 6D

Captured during the longest day of the year at 21:21. The sun stays over the horizon much longer though. The image is SOOC, only converted from RAW and then sharpened. I used one 0.6 soft ND grad and one 0.9 hard ND grad to balance the sky against the foreground. Gives the moss an almost unreal glow but I like it. And it's all done "in-camera". :)
This year's midsummer celebrations consisted of hanging out, eating good food and drinking beer. No silly singing and dancing with this group! I think.
Not so tough now is he. No names, but we like to call him Hasse, he lives at Villa BlĂĄmes in Norrby. When the Grande Absente bottle suddenly stood on the table Hasse was up for a shot. Minutes later not so much. After that one first sip the rest of the strong stuff were tossed away.
Midsummer evenings are special, the time nearing midnight, and you're still stood atop a mountain. It just feels so wrong, yet it's so special. There's very few things I love more than spending an evening watching the colours change through the spectrum. From white, boring light, to the ethereal pink after-sunset glow.

Before I went to celebrate Swedish Midsummer yesterday, I took a walk to hunt for insects with my IR camera armed with the macro lens. Didn't get many keepers, but I liked this one.

Litha also known as the Summer Solstice or Midsummer is the longest day of the year, it is the festival of the Suns rebirth and a time to honour the god where he is at his strongest, highest and brightest It is a time of celebrating the fertility of the land and the abundance of the earth.
The Goddess during this time is full and pregnant an they say it is a good time for any women wanting to conceive to walk bare foot or sky clad through there own vegetable/herb garden at night and pluck some St Johns wort.
"Solstice" is derived from two Latin words: "sol" meaning sun, and "sistere," to cause to stand still. This is because, as the summer solstice approaches, the noonday sun rises higher and higher in the sky on each successive day. On the day of the solstice, it rises an imperceptible amount, compared to the day before. In this sense, it "stands still."
(In the southern hemisphere, the summer solstice is celebrated in December, also when the night time is at a minimum and the daytime is at a maximum.
Happy Midsummer 2 All!
.
It's Midsummer's Day, and what better way than to do as Pup has done (though I'm a bit concerned she's taking to Wicca so easily!) and wear the colours Purple and Gold! She'll be dancing round the Ivy tonight (more Wicca, I'm afraid!) - the quickstep, of course - to celebrate!
Oh and the layer behind her is a shot I took yesterday of a group of Pyramidal Orchids ... they do grow thickly in favoured areas. Although quite scarce, they're not as scarce as they used to be; when found thriving, they like to flower in very large groups!
with flowers of the season. a mini-Midsummer pole and a small Dala horse - it'll do for celebrating a Swedish Midsummer Eve this year here on the other side of the big puddle. :-)

Canon AV-1, FD 135mm F2.5 S.C., negative for cinema ( F64D ), exposed as ISO 40, developed as below.
1. Rem jet removal : Soaking and shaking in diluted NaOH.
2. Washing.
3. Development with P1 + P1R ( paper developer ) for 5 minutes at 30 Deg. C.
4. Rinse.
5. Bleach just like C41.
6. Rinse.
7. Fixation just like C41.
8. Rinse.
Step 1 is easier for Fuji film. For Kodak manual removal would be needed.
Step 2 is the substitute for ECN-2, whic is based on C3, while C41 for normal negative film is based on C4.
Scanning needs to check the option "compensate color saturation as depleted film". Enjoy the distinct color expression and the tone.
