There is almost a feel of summer holidays to the West Country here - a Merchant Navy pacific racing through the rolling countryside on a warm Saturday afternoon. Not the West of England mainline through Devon unfortunately but Buckland in Surrey. No. 35028 Clan Line passes the foot crossing with its last British Pullman job before its overhaul.

Come, celebrate Midsummer with us in Faerndil Village!
The equinox is here,
Time to cast aside your fear!
Thumbs down to evil and strife,
Long live joy, love and life!
Sunday, June 26, from 11 am to 4 pm SLT
We gather around the big tree in Faerndil to give thanks, then to drink, feast and dance.
Nudity is encouraged, but at least one flower must be worn.

I went on a hike for Midsummer's night/Jónsmessa (St Johns babtists day)
up to Mt Kræðufell (711m) in Eyjafjörður.
This day has inherited many of the customs and folklore
associated with Midsummers Day, three days before.
Regarded as one of the most magical nights of the year,
cows gain the ability of speech, seals transform into humans,
very propitious for looking for herbs, grasses,
and Magical Stones.
The dew falling on this night has special healing powers,
but only if you roll in the dew - stark naked.
It was too cold for the rolling around naked in the dew,
but the view was awesome from the top!
I didnt meet any talking cows on the way up there either ;)
A couple more photos from this hike here on my facebook page.
"The rings around, the rings so sweet
beside your mind in the summer heat
I can't belive the things I've said
between your eyes, between your legs
words then can break in half
make you mad, they make you laugh"... ♫♪♫♪

Ithaca, NY is a mecca for tourists in mid-summer. This summer especially since we've had nothing but rain since the Spring, so now the tourists are coming in droves to see the beautiful waterfalls this area has to offer. It's true "Ithaca is Gorges!"
