An infographic showing the history and travels of the dwarves in J.R.R. Tolkien's Silmarillion, Hobbit and Lord of the Rings
This is the Hobbiton film set from Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. It's on a private farm in Matamata, New Zealand, and it is amazing to visit, even though they are not allowed to dress up the holes (which is why they are all white). It's fun to watch the Fellowship of the Ring afterwards and recognize all the places you've stood or seen.
This is the scar left by lead mining, probably in the 18th/19th centuries. There are also deep shafts in the wood where miners lowered themselves down to mine the lead. I don't know if it's the remnants of the lead industry or something else about this place but it feels a little unearthly.

I´ve lately sewn a middleearth inspired weddingdress for my friend A.
She´ll marry this september in an ancient castle near our home town.
The gown is made of 15ft duchesse silk, 4ft Chiffon and 10ft linning of high qualitiy. I´ve done several alternations to the Simlicity pattern. Especially the sleeves are inspired by "Arwens Angelgown".
