Galadriel (Cate Blanchett):

"Mithrandir... Why the Halfling?"

Gandalf (Ian McKellen):

"I do not know... Saruman believes that it is only great power that can hold evil in check. But that is not what I find. I find it is, the small things, everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keeps the darkness at bay. Simple acts of kindness and love. Why Bilbo Baggins? Perhaps it is because I am afraid, and he gives me courage..."

One day a few weeks back, I was out chasing the fog and found a few sunbeams.

Evening light and alluring panorama from road B10, Isle of Man.

The Isle of Man (Manx: Ellan Vannin), otherwise known simply as Mann (Manx: Mannin), is a self-governing British Crown dependency located in the Irish Sea between the islands of Great Britain and Ireland.

Hills stretch obliquely across the Island and just one mountain, Snaefell (the Snowy Mountain), stands at 2,036 feet (621 metres). Well defined valleys lie between, and around the Island's flat northern plain are long sandy beaches. These contrast markedly with the rocky cliffs and sheltered bays around the rest of the coastline, which is over 100 miles (160km) long.

(See English text below, please)

The swamp stars are ghosts that have completely degenerated into a semblance of their original form. They are manifested with mysterious small and bright lights leading the unwary into quicksand, deep ponds, of swamps or marshes.

This is a tiny 32mm fantasy metal figure miniature from the "Middle-earth" range of the irish company Mithril, dedicated to J.R.R. Tolkien "The Lord of the Rings" characters, painted by myself and photographed with my Sony ILCE 5100 with Tamron Adaptall SP 90mm f / 2.5 Macro 52B manual focus lens.

The Tongariro Alpine Crossing is New Zeland's most popular one-day hike. The steep inclines and long descents plus the rugged terrain and the shifting weather patterns would qualify this 19. 4 km hike as being fairly difficult but well worth the amazing views at the very top. In addition to seeing vast volcanic landscapes, at the mid-point are the surreal looking green and blue lakes. From here it is all the way down! Tongariro is also the site of the famous Mt Doom from Lord of the Rings. .

At the Hobbiton Movie Set, Matamata, New Zealand

When Peter Jackson spotted the Alexander Farm during an aerial search of the North Island of NZ for the best possible locations to film The Lord of The Rings film trilogy, he immediately thought it was perfect for Hobbiton.

Site construction started in March 1999 and filming commenced in December that year, continuing for three months. The set was rebuilt in 2011 for the feature films “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”, “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug”, and “The Hobbit: There and Back Again”.

It is now a permanent attraction complete with hobbit holes, gardens, bridge, Mill and The Green Dragon Inn.

Visitors can only join one of different guided tours around the 12 acre set and get a behind-the-scenes look at these remarkable movies.

Unfortunately it was raining heavily during our visit.

♥ Thank you very much for your visits, faves, and kind comments ♥
