Or should it be "Micro Macrocosms", hmmmm. This is a Sminthurinus species Globular Springtail grazing on a bit of damp wood, these are pretty small at about 0.8mm. I'm not 100% sure wether these are Sminthurinus igniceps or Sminthurinus aureus f. ochropus or indeed something else, I have included some ID shots in the comments and a few other shots as well.

I do so enjoy my little journeys into this wonderful world and feel honoured to be able to see these things. These shots were taken at x5 magnification with 68mm of extension tubes, I have to use a wider aperture at these magnifications, anything above f/8 just becomes far too soft, starting to use F/7.1 more, this becomes a real DOF challenge and trying to get an optimum angle for DOF with these guys is no easy task.

I think it is set to rain all day again, not stopped since I got up, supposed to be drier tomorrow, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend :o)

Notice the door leaning up against the side of the van. That was why all the grease fell over on the books.

The reflection of the backyard fence on a dewdrop on a toadstool growing out of a crack in a stump... "And the green grass grew all around and around, and the green grass grew all around!" Do you remember that song?

Divers 2014 - Saint Josse, surprenant microcosme bruxellois
