Not the best shot but there was low light and it was breezy and overcast. This poor deceased bee had become spider food and was wedged in a banksia. I have not seen this species of native bee before. It had a metallic blue sheen to it. Any I.D. suggestions much appreciated! Found in Springwood, Blue Mountains, NSW.
A Metallic Green Carpenter Bee and another smaller native bee species both enjoy the nectar provided by an Epacris pulchella plant near a temporary pond. [Lower Blue Mountains, NSW.]

I love the old sheet metal door on this garage in Old Irving Park, Chicago. I've been taking lots of walks with the Holga around my new neighborhood and capturing my favorite things.

Calopteryx splendens, Banded Demoiselle damselfly. Male.
I will always remember when I first saw one of these damselflies once I moved to Oxford. I had only ever seen the smaller UK species, such as the common blue, and had no idea we had such large and elegant species. I was struck by how graceful it was in flight, delicately batting its wings on either side of its metallic green-blue body. The dart patches on the wings of males are often the only part of the wings visible in flight, appearing to bat independently of the body. Beautiful! I have since seen them as far north as Lancashire.

Aplonis metallica-The Metallic Starling is a bird in the starling family. It is native of New Guinea and nearby Australia.
Just got back home from a week in upstate NY. Didn't see many bees, which is what I'd hoped for, but I did get this bronze metallic bee (Lasioglossum, I think). This is my best shot of it, but I did get a lot of interesting sawfly photos that I'll be posting hopefully Tuesday.

Metallic beetle (Chrysolina fastuosa) found in a single patch of nettles under a tree covering an area of about 2 square meters. There were hundreds of them around, most were difficult to get too, however this and a few others were roaming around on the ground so made good subjects.

These metallic cases reflect light and the image changes tone as you move them. I make these SLIM cases one at a time using a heat transfer process that embeds my high resolution artwork onto the aluminum panel. Each case is hand signed on the inside of the shell.These cases are not mass produced and are currently available only directly through my etsy shop and website. The main part of this necklace is made with raspberry colored metallic delica seed beads. It is handwoven with the peyote stitch.
Beads used are:
-Bali silver.
-Swarvoski cube Pink crystal.
-Sterling Silver drop bead with a prettycut inlay of cut metal.
(I know this kind of bead has a name only I don't remember what it is called...I bought it years ago and never used it. I do remember it was kind of expensive back then).
-Chain is antiqued brass.
-The clasp is a pretty drop shaped Bali silver toggle.
This necklace measures 25 inches long.
