Examples of work produced during a short introduction to metalwork. Using beaten and welded steel and aluminium, I was able to create elegant yet powerful forms, echoing sea shells or ocean waves.

This pendant measures 1.5''x1''.

 

It's made by fusing bits of sterling silver together. The piece has a nice weight, so it hangs beautifully. The whole piece was oxidized to bring out the textures and contrast in shapes.

 

Fusing is the perfect way to "recycle" pieces of metal from other jewelry projects.

A mold getting shifted inside a blast furnace sends up sparks. Backyard metal casting at its finest.

This edge sander was built in my senior metal class at BCIT. It really gave me an appreciation for how much time is required to build a piece of machinery. Everything needs to be so exact to ensure proper operation. The time spent was well worth it, this is a very solid machine that performs flawlessly. It is so handy to have around the shop I’m not sure how I survived this long without it!
