it IS there, just in the distance......

Metadata in Action workshop at IDCC 2016

An example of an analog method of information dissemination that dies hard. Bands still use printed setlists which are distributed to the band members and crew just before the show. These days they are usually initially created on a computer but they still end up on paper. Whether the band sticks to that night's plan is another story. Note the engineer's analog method of indicating which is the current song.

The subject, Morgan, wanted me to photograph her with her turtle. At first I thought this idea would be very difficult to achieve, and I wasn't wrong. To my surprise the turtle moved surprisingly fast, so I had to work fast to expose and focus. I captured this photo just as the turtle began to escape her owner's clutches, under the careful eye of Morgan. I like the expression Morgan is giving her turtle, and the bokeh of the background.

I took this under the shade of a tree (because the sun was much to bright in the afternoon), allowing for the contrast to be reduced. I wanted to achieve the shallow depth of field which is why I used f/1.8; however, the bright sunlight did not allow for an acceptable shutter speed (hence 1/1000 sec). In Lightroom I softened the contrast and cropped it a touch.
