So tonight was the highlight of my time in H-burg thus far-- a house concert with singer/songwriter Justin Roth at my friend Chad's place. Music was so, so good, made even more romantic with the first snow of the season falling softly outside.
Amy has a better picture of Justin actually performing, but I chose this one, to illustrate the lowpoint of the evening. Minutes after this picture was taken, I turned to Justin (seated beside me) and launched into this long, increasingly awkward conversation with him....Totally one of those moments where you're standing outside of yourself, listening to yourself talk, and you're thinking, You're being a freak, stop being a freak...But you just can't stop. That's kind of what happened. Self-mortification ensued.
(On a better note, Justin introduced us to his friend Brooks West, at the top of the stairs, who's a local singer-songwriter, hailing from Fargo, ND.)

Apples grow real big out here. This fall sunday my RAs and I traveled the dipping roads of our landscape to an apple orchard near school, where we picked a bushel of apples for a marathon baking session for an open house at my apartment monday night. Amidst flying flour sunday evening, we breaked for bowls of homemade french onion soup. If only it wasn't 85 degrees outside, it would have been, nearly, perfect.
