On 2 December, 2018, Mary Ann and I attended a performance of Handel's "Messiah", performed by artists from Ann Maria College, at Christ the King Church in Worcester.

L’Anticristo è la prima raffigurazione del ciclo, che si incontra subito a sinistra dopo l’ingresso nel duomo.
Per il tema trattato e per come esso viene svolto nella presente composizione, il riquadro costituisce un caso unico nella Storia dell’arte italiana. Una raffigurazione a carattere monumentale tratta dal “De ortu et tempore Antichristi” – testo variamente attribuito, allora fortemente legato alla tormentosa attesa del secondo millennio – e dalla Leggenda Aurea.
L’avvento di falsi Messia, inoltre, lo troviamo negli scritti profetici sugli Ultimi Giorni del Vangelo secondo Matteo.
L’Anticristo viene raffigurato da Signorelli in primo piano mentre predica alla folla da sopra un piedistallo. Esso, nelle fattezze, è simile a Gesù Cristo ma viene mosso dal demone che sta al suo fianco e che gli detta precisi ordini all’orecchio, guidandogli i gesti in modo assai disarticolato, come se fosse inanimato (si noti a tal proposito il braccio sinistro di Satana che si sostituisce completamente a quello dell’Anticristo). Esso è attorniato da molta gente, dislocata in vari gruppi, che ha offerto lussuosi doni e generose elargizioni, apparendo già irrimediabilmente corrotta dai suoi discorsi.
Nella zona a sinistra appaiono scene di grande degrado: un uomo sta compiendo un’efferata strage, una giovane donna sta ricevendo soldi dopo essersi prostituita con un anziano mercante, mentre altre figure di basso rango sono in atteggiamenti di pura spavalderia.
The Antichrist is the first representation of the cycle, which is encountered immediately to the left after entering the cathedral.
For the treated theme and for how it is developed in the present composition, the panel constitutes a unique case in the History of the Italian art. A representation of monumental character taken from the "De ortu et tempore Antichristi" - text variously attributed, then strongly tied to the tormenting wait of the second millennium - and from the Golden Legend.
The advent of false Messiahs, moreover, we find in the prophetic writings on the Last Days of the Gospel according to Matthew.
The Antichrist is depicted by Signorelli in the foreground while preaching to the crowd from a pedestal. It, in features, is similar to Jesus Christ but is moved by the demon who is at his side and who dictates precise orders in his ear, guiding his gestures in a very disjointed way, as if he were inanimate (note in this regard the left arm of Satan that completely replaces that of the Antichrist). He is surrounded by many people, dislocated in various groups, who have offered luxurious gifts and generous handouts, already appearing irreparably corrupted by his speeches.
In the area to the left there are scenes of great degradation: a man is committing a brutal massacre, a young woman is receiving money after prostituting herself with an elderly merchant, while other figures of low rank are in attitudes of pure bravado.
I am intrigued by the Christian symbolism present in Man of Steel. Here are some of the elements I noticed:
Kal-El was sent to this world by his other-worldly father; and he was raised by a man who was not his biological parent.
Kal-El was 33 years old when he "saved" the world.
Kal-El belonged to the House of El; and in Hebrew, the word for "God" is "El" (singular) or "Elohim" (plural). We see this in some common names, such as Gabriel, which means "messenger of God."
Faora refers to Kal-El as the "Son of El," which is another way of calling him the "Son of God."
And Kal-El is seen floating in space, as if hung upon the cross, after his other-worldly father tells him that he can "save all of them."

Hi all, Chubbybots back here with my own custom Mark 6 Jaeger Emerald Messiah inspired by the movie Pacific Rim Uprising.
Her primary weapons are the 2 sonic cannons on her shoulders. It produces a sonic weapon that only affects Kaiju tissue rendering them paralyze.
Her secondary weapon includes the twin claws on her forearms reminiscent of Striker Eureka.
Her third weapon is inspired something gundam inspired haha :D I believe many will know that reference :D

In Joyful Anticipation of the MESSIAH...

Christ (ancient Greek: Christós, meaning 'anointed') is a translation of the Hebrew, the MESSIAH, and is used as a title for Jesus in the New Testament.
The followers of Jesus became known as Christians (as in Acts 11:26) because they believed Jesus to be the MESSIAH prophesied in the Hebrew Bible. Christians designate HIM Jesus Christ, meaning Jesus the Christos. Christ was originally a title, but later became part of the name "Jesus Christ", though it is still also used as a title, in the reciprocal use Christ Jesus, meaning "The Messiah Jesus".
Jesus is not accepted by the majority of Jews as their MESSIAH. The Jewish people still await the MESSIAHS first coming, while Christians await HIS second coming, when they believe HE will fulfill those parts of Messianic prophecy left unfulfilled in the first century AD.

RV messiah guy, parked for months (maybe a year now, actually) at 89A and the Mingus extension. Is he allowed to camp in a non-camping area for reasons of religious expression? His hand-painted signs are not always biblical fire and brimstone. Once I saw one that said "Oh how I wish I had Jesse's girl"!

Illusions of life. We are programmed to recognise creatures. More specifically, are we born to see a symmetrical form as a threat of sorts in a similar way to bees that recognise (respond to) symmetrical flowers as food sources.
Put another way: are we naturally likely, as infants, to interpret a complex bilaterally symmetrical pattern as a life form. There may be some evolutionary advantage attached to such an inborn ability. Unknown life forms can be life threatening.
The image panels were made from a complex image by simple reflection about a vertical line. The image on the right is the same as the one on the left, flipped 180º.
