This wine sells for $22 at the winery. Not a bad price for this wine. The initial flavor had that "cheap wine" taste. After a while it settled down to a smooth smokey cherry flavor with a pretty good finish. However, unlike a lot of wines, it wasn't as good after two days.

Il Sasso Nero è una ripida collinetta sita in Arquà Petrarca. Nero, negro per la gente locale, è il filone di basalto che ha sollevato il fondo marino ma lo è anche la superficie di scaglia rossa calcarea che qui è quasi bruciata dal sole estivo. In questo ambiente così mediterraneo coltiviamo 2 ettari di concentratissimo Merlot con una densità di 5.000 ceppi/ha e una resa media di 65 q.li/ha. Matura 18 mesi in barili da 500 lt per metà nuovi e metà di 2° passaggio.

Color marasca intenso, ha un ingresso caratterizzato da note calde e speziate che schiudono alla finezza, chiaro il frutto di marasca e mora, invitanti le spezie e deliziosi i fiori di siepe; il gusto è morbido e avvolgente, delineato dai mirtilli, il tabacco e il sottobosco in una splendida espressione di persistenza. Ideale con la gallina padovana "in tocio".
