The Mergui Archipelago is a chain of dozens of islands off the west coast of Myanmar (Burma). Most are uninhabited. We landed on this one and picked up chambered Nautilus shells lying in the sand.

Like many other members of the genus Periclimenes, the clown shrimp live symbiotically with larger animals, in this case a sea anemone. They can be a little difficult to spot, so rather than look for the shrimp itself, have a good look around the possible host instead and you'll probably get lucky. Sea anemones, sea stars and sea cucumbers are a good place to start your search.
