The Noisy Miner belongs to the honeyeater family and is endemic to eastern and south-eastern Australia.
It is often confused with the introduced Common or Indian Myna bird which is mostly dark brown and, whilst it has similar facial markings, it belongs to the starling family.
The Noisy Miner is a bold and curious bird which primary eats nectar, fruit and insects and occasionally feeds on small reptiles and amphibians. They noisily defend their ‘patch’ of trees from other birds, especially other honeyeaters which are regarded as competitors for the food resources.
Many other birds are also driven from the area as they are mercilessly harassed until they move on and the Noisy Miner is always at war with other species of the feathered kind. Because of this aggressive behavior, areas inhabited by Noisy Miners often support few other birds.

While the sun is merciless bringing asphalt and concrete in the cities to glow, here at the waterfall called Eistobel in the allgäu alps You find a realy relaxed climate. On its way through the rocks, the river (Upper Argen) is spreading a soft spray mist what is uniting with a cool wisp of wind under the trees. This is a perfect aircondition. Besides that the rustling and murmeling of the water has also a calming yes allmost a hypnitic effect. More to this beautiful place soon.
Während die Sonne unbarmherzig Beton und Asphalt in den Städten zum Glühen bringen, herscht hier am Eistobel im Allgäu ein entspanntes Klima. Bei seinem Weg durch die Felsen verteilt der Fluß (Oberer Argen) einen sanften Spühnebel, der sich mit dem leichten und kühlen Wind unter dem Blätterdach vermischt. Die perfekte Klimaanlage. Ganz nebenbei hat das Rauschen und Murmeln das Wassers auch noch eine beruhigende, ja fast hypnotische Wirkung. Mehr zu diesem wunderschönen Ort gibt es ein anderes mal.

Parfum d’automne,
Les fleurs du jardin livraient leurs derniers parfums
Lorsque nous arrivions chez ma grand-mère au début de l’automne
Pour l’aider à préparer ses conserves de fruits et de légumes.
L’hiver nordique est rude et sans pitié pour celui qui n’est pas prêt, disait-elle.

Scent of Autumn
The garden flowers were delivering their latest fragrance
When we arrived at my grandmother's in early fall
To help her with homemade canned fruit and vegetables.
The Northern winter is harsh and merciless for the ones that are not prepared, she kept saying.
Scents of apples, wild fruit, pickles, pies, and cookies.
Smell of the wood in the fireplace so welcoming in these long months of iced whiteness
Warmth of the laughter, colors of the songs
Warmth, too, of the old but beautiful wallpaper of old time's charm
That adorned the living room...
That my grandmother loved so much, with its flowers "that never withered," as she was saying laughing to her grandchildren.

Ein Jungluchs im Wildpark Schwarze Berge: Besonders charakteristisch für den Luchs sind die wie bereits bei diesem Jungtier deutlich ausgeprägten und bis zu 5 cm langen Haarpuschel an den Ohrenspitzen, sein ausgeprägter Backenbart und der kurze Schwanz. Die auch „Pinselohr“ genannte Raubkatze war einst in Westeuropa weit verbreitet. Sein schlimmster Feind war immer der Mensch, der ihn gnadenlos verfolgte, teils wegen seines kostbaren Pelzes, teils weil er als „Jagdschädling“ galt. Heute leben wieder einzelne Exemplare in einigen deutschen Mittelgebirgen.

Hello everyone! It has been awhile and I hope you are all well! Last night, I flew back to Chicago after a whopping 18 day trip through five cities, starting in Paris then Zürich, Milan, Florence, and flying out of Rome. As it was a very long vacation and I am Obsessive Compulsive, I have over 20,000 photos to look through. (This is actually an improvement for me when I used to take more like 2,000-3,000 photos a day on vacation.) In any case, this is one of the last photos I took in Rome. After a few days of 100 degree Fahrenheit/37 degrees Celsius, there were a lot of people lined up for gelato and these two friends were laughing and having their best life.
At my very best, I see the merciless beauty in all humans and our highest potential. That is when I like to take street photos.
