in metro manila there is a saying, "if you can't find what you're searching for, go to divisoria". divisoria is the premier place for cheap, difficult to find merchandises. it is located in manila very close to the port area. here are some images

Service Merchandise, until its bankruptcies in 1999 and 2002, was a giant in the catalog showroom category of department stores, a category which virtually disappeared after the turn of the century.

I remember going to the one on Hillsborough in Tampa. There was one at Eastlake Mall, but I never went there.

This particular store was originally an Albertson's. I have no information aside from that. It sits along a burned-out retail strip very, very near the Gulf of Mexico.

I bought a roll of black and white film on a whim and, using my cheap point-and-shoot manual Vivitar camera, fooled around with it.

Ummm...I may have gone just a little overboard with the Hunger Games movie merchandise. Haha! I can't help it! I love the books and can't wait for the movie!!

If you want to get sorted into a District and get your free DIP (ID), go to The Hunger Games movie facebook: www.facebook.com/thehungergamesmovie?ref=ts#!/thehungerga...

The picture on the left has my personal District 11 T-shirt (front), arena parachute necklace (it opens and contains a canister that you can put things in), Mockingjay earrings, Mockingjay pin, my DIP (ID) for District 11, large holographic bookmark, four small magnetic bookmarks.

The picture on the right has my personal District 11 T-shirt (back), Katniss action figure, Hunger Games bag and socks, and the back of the bookmarks.

I took this with my iPhone, so the quality's not the greatest. Sorry about that!

May the odds be ever in your favor. Happy Hunger Games!!

I visited Disneyland today, Sunday August 20, 2017. It was sunny and warm (85 F). I only bought one item (an OE Bambi and Thumper 2 pin set). I saw Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs all together walking down Main Street towards the Castle, which I've never seen before outside of a parade. I saw the new girl's Elsa costume from Olaf's Frozen Adventure animated short ($79.99). It is very pretty. Also a new Ghost Bride (Haunted Mansion) ornament. I got a decent score in Buzz Lightyear, but only placed #17. DLH and ROB monopolized the leader board, as usual.

Spent all morning making badges.

Deadpool merchandise at Spencer's, a novelty store, similiar to Hit Topic but with way more risque content ... like numerous marijuana themed pieces of attire, sexy lingerie, and dildos ... for ... you know. If you were aroused by Deadpool's disfigured face, have an addiction to pot, and the right equipment between your legs, Spencer's can meet all your needs! (except getting a bondsman to get you out of jail for doing pot).

Frozen section in the Main Street Emporium. Classic Anna dolls and reversible Anna/Elsa plush.

My visit Disneyland on Saturday, May 17, 2014. I was hoping to get the newly released Ariel Fanta Sea Limited Edition pin. It is the fifth pin in the Eau de Magique Collection. Unfortunately, it was sold out everywhere in Disneyland. My first stop was the World of Disney. On previous Thursday evening, I made quick visit to Disneyland as well, and they had Classic Elsa dolls for sale. Today they had Classic Anna dolls for sale, as well as the Topsy-Turvy reversible Anna/Elsa plush dolls. The Emporium also had the same Frozen dolls for sale, but as usual they were a lot less busy. In the Disneyana shop, they had various Maleficent items for sale, including the newly released Disney Store Maleficent and Aurora dolls. Unusually for Disneyland, they were the same price as they are being sold at the Disney Store. In the Crystal Arts shop, they had more dragon glass figurines for sale. In the China Closet shop, they had the new Mushu shoe ornament. In the LGM Store Command in Tomorrowland, they had the new Rapunzel and Merida Jeweled open edition pins for sale. In the Enchanted Chamber store in Fantasyland, they had a nice Maleficent merchandise display. It included the Disney Store Maleficent and Aurora dolls, T-shirts, two styles of Maleficent hats: an ear hat and Maleficent horns. The horned hat was very impressive when I saw a woman wearing them in the park.

Old Service Merchandise shopping cart spotted in a Salvation Army Thrift Store parking lot.

SM was a rather different store. It had an area where you could just grab stuff off the shelf like any normal store, but its electronics, jewelry, and furniture departments had a ticket system. Basically you got a card and wrote down the catalog numbers of what you wanted (later this became a barcode "pull-ticket" system), then took it to a counter. A few minutes later, your "order" would then roll down a big convener belt to the checkout. This method pushed the catalog and reduced theft. The chain liquidated in 2002, and currently exists as an online retailer.

Looking past the LaSalle Street Bridge and the Helene Curtis Building, at the Merchandise Mart, billed as the world's largest commercial building. When opened in 1930, the Merchandise Mart or the Mart, located in Chicago, IL., was the largest building in the world with four million square feet (372,000 m²) of floor space.

Previously owned by the Marshall Field family, the Mart centralised Chicago's wholesale goods business by consolidating vendors and trade under a single roof. Massive in its construction, and serving as a monument to early 20th century merchandising and architecture, the Art Deco landmark anchors the daytime skyline at the junction of the Chicago River branches. With upper levels bathed in coloured floodlight, the structure stands out against darker downtown buildings in night views. The building continues to be a leading retailing and wholesale destination, hosting 20,000 visitors and tenants per day.

It is so large that it rates its own zip (post) code - 60654! It stands 104m high. But it looks more like a downtown Federal penitentiary than a wholesale shop! It was succeeded as the building with the largest floor space by the Pentagon in Arlington, VA., in 1943 but by this measure is still the sixth largest building in the world.

The Merchandise Mart (currently branded as the Mart), designed by Graham, Anderson, Probst and White, was the largest building in the world at its opening in 1930. Its 4 million square feet of floor space is located at the junction of the Chicago River's branches. Built by Marshall Field & Co. and later owned for more than half a century by the Kennedy family, the Mart centralized Chicago's wholesale goods business by consolidating architectural and interior design vendors and trades under a single roof. My grandfather, a ladies’ undergarments salesman, had an office here for many years.

An imposing building dating from the 1930's with over 4 million sq. ft. (over 37,000 sq. m.) of display space for manufacturers and wholesalers. In its day, it was the largest building in the US until the Pentagon was built. Despite its age and size, it is now a LEED-certified building with trend-setting energy efficiency measures. It remains one of the world's most prominent buildings for manufacturers and wholesalers to display their product.
