Galina is the 4th entry into the "Celestial Sisters" series I've created. Each sister represents a planet in the Solar system, with Galina representing Neptune. As such, her affinity is to the oceans and sea creatures.

I was going to post this at end of MerMay but didn't, however now with the announcement of Halle Bailey winning the role of Ariel in Disney's Live Action The Little Mermaid, I feel like now is a good time to post it.
Is it a curve ball casting? Yes. Would I like to see Ariel exactly like the animated cartoon bought to life? Sure, however there is more character to Ariel than being white, so much more. Halle Bailey won the role out of the hundreds of actresses of every race auditioned because she BEST captures Ariel’s spirit, innocence, tenacity and charm, and that in my opinion is more important than portraying Ariel as white. I’d never heard of Bailey before the casting announcement but looking at her she’s got Ariel’s cute smile, wide set eyes, similar bone structure and WOW she has the most beautiful singing voice!! The OG Ariel isn't going anywhere, she will ALWAYS be iconic and beloved and I will continue to love her but I 100% support Halle Bailey in the the role, it is time for a new generation to have a fresh face to aspire to. The hateful, racist comments I have seen directed at the actress are frankly disgusting, I just hope Bailey has the courage to swim strong in the face of adversity much like Ariel herself. The ocean is a big place but it has no room for bigots and if people can’t accept the casting then maybe it is best they stay on dry land because this is an adventure I for one am diving into head first #yesmyariel

According to mythology, Nereus was ruler of the Aegean sea and Father to the 50 Nereids.
I haven't sewn in ages so for MerMay I decided to make this merman. He started as a Dumbledore from Harry Potter doll, his tail and sleeves are all hand sewn by me, I made the trident/sceptre using bits in my junk box, the crown is a repainted Barbie crown with added jewel.

Essa sereiazinha foi uma das minhas primeiras tentativas usando as canetas Copic. Gostei tanto dela que a minha vontade é de sair postando em todos os cantos essa menina dos cabelos roxos. =D

In january of 2018, I searched about mermaid celebrations (dates, months, weeks,...) and I found NOTHING, a few months later my phone broke and then I found about mermay.
I was so pissed because I couldn't post about it😭😭. I'm a merperson for as long as I can remember (my sister had The Little Mermaid 2 on vhs and I was obsessed with it, BUT I only watched The Little Mermaid on my teen years).
I was so exited for mermay2019 (so many ideas), but my family is here and I can't craft or take pics with then around😖 , but I'm happy that I could take this pic of my merman (his name is Billy and we share the same love for tge ocean and sea creatures).

With all the mermaid love going around, I felt it was important to give some love to the brave and swift Mermen of the undersea world, who protect the waters and are the primary hunters among Merfolk.

‘Love’ was the theme for day 9 of #mermaydg2018 , and it presented a great opportunity to acknowledge that love isn’t just of the romantic kind, but it is a feeling you could have for practically anything or anyone, just as this beautiful mermaid loves her shimmery guppy pal, as they swim and glitter together!⭐️
It never fails - Another year, another mermay that I felt snuck up on me! I LOVE mermaids but become overwhelmed with ideas to the point and tell myself I'll pick one 'later' only to forget and scramble LOL
Thankfully I was able to pull something together I like using a few things I already have . Mermaid dolls seem to be more present in stores than ever but NGL - I miss mermaid dolls *wearing* their tails instead of having them sculpted into their bodies because sharing the look on different dolls was part of the fun. Perhaps it's time I learn how to sew my own tails then? Or maybe just buy a few older dolls, we'll have to see
In any case, Happy (nearly end of) Mermay! May I find a way to organize well enough to participate in one of those tag games next year!
Scuttle is so knowledgeable, he knows all there is to know about human stuff. Ariel loves hearing his pearls of wisdom, today she’s learned that what she’s found is a snarfblat, humans use it to make beautiful music!

The oceans are full of countless kinds of fish, and Merfolk have learnt how good fish are with directions, since they have coexisted with them for centuries!
Here, for the ‘Fish’ theme for day 17 of #mermaydg2018 , we see a super shimmery and shiny mermaid who is following the lead of her fish friends, as they swim their way towards some new treasures to be collected!
We are taking part in another year of the MerMay hunt! We celebrate all the mer in Secondlife by taking part in this special hunt. It is organized by the owner of the Veles fantasy sim by NotTheReal Novaland, owner of Amadeus (previously Dreamcatcher store). All you have to do is find the various hidden pearls from many of the designers taking part, including us.
This collection is great for filling out underwater spaces and adding light and colour to your environment. It's the 2nd set of items in the series. You can even use these pieces for background setups.
We have 16 + 1 bonus pearls in all this year as seen in the prize key above. Each of our prizes are L$25 each.

I don't think I'll be able to do anything to celebrate it properly, so here's one of the pictures that took last year and didn't post because of what was happening last year (✊).

It only took all month, but I finally drew something for "MerMay"! A mermaid character for Wulfgard named Coralia.

I only managed to photograph the lighter skinned mermaids last mermay, but I assure you, the darker skinned mermaids are just as pretty.
