Nous sommes arrivés en France! We are staying in this lovely country for two months this spring. Our primary residence is Lyon, the third largest city in France, located to the southwest. It is a historical, cultural, and very picturesque city founded as the Roman city of Lugdunum, spread out over two hills and two rivers -- the Saône and Rhône.
With side trips to locations as diverse as Paris, Perpignan, Aix-en-Provence, and more, Steve and I aim to get our fill of a country neither of us has seen in a decade, and enjoy the cuisine, culture, language practice, scenery, and generally, la vie quotidienne.

1960s menu from the Genghis Khan Restaurant at Connecticut and Florida Avenues NW. William Dock Lee (1906-1969) opened the restaurant in 1958. Lee, born in New York City, was a successful trade executive with many international connections. For Genghis Khan, he created an elaborately decorated evocation of Asia and tapped local diplomats, government officials, and socialites for financial support and for a broad range of Asian recipes, all prepared by his staff of three Mandarin and three Cantonese chefs. The menu offers a fascinating survey of mid-century Asian delicacies. The restaurant lasted into the early 1970s.
Unsurprisingly this is in York and somewhere I've been keen to visit since purchasing some excellent cans from them during lockdowns when the pubs were shut. Along with Magic Rock and Vocation these three Yorkshire breweries are taking beer brewing in many different directions. Craft beer is Brew York's prime product but they also brew some marvellous cask ales. After going up the stairs we were met with a wall of I think twenty seven craft taps and two hand pumps out of use. Although I was happy to drink the craft I was looking forward to their real ale. This was the beer hall with lots of benches and Yuzu Street Food offering Japanese and Korean dishes. Thankfully I was directed to a downstairs Tap Room with three hand pumps where I ordered my Korean vegan bao buns with asian pickles.

Just a quick shot of a menu I designed for a school project. It's for an all-organic, fair trade cafe so I did my best to communicate that through the design by using natural colors and recycled, textured stock in a simple, warm and friendly identity.
An old favourite, now mostly visited by tourists looking for good seafood at reasonable prices. In addition to local seafood, you can also get oysters, and crabs from Canada.

We had a wonderful dinner at Horoki, and I was pleased to see that they offer a three options for a Horoki Lunch Platter.
