I took this shot a couple of years ago in Manhattan, I felt at the time that I was being stripped clean, because he was staring straight at me......I just found out he is the infamous Louis Mendes, Manhattan street photographer....he even gets a mention on Wikpedia......I don't!
Marcelo Mendes, Brazilian record-holder for "embaixadinhas" (football juggling / keeping the ball off the ground), and all around happy guy.

Mended Ikat. This ikat is very very old. The family I loved with the Bali were going to burn it, but I managed to save it and bring it home. Nothing has ever felt better to my skin than really old Ikat. It finally wore and tore through I one big place.I'm a terrible seamstress, but I love this so much I wanted to carefully hand mend it myself.

Learned a few lessons on hustling photographs from this man. Not my thing, but it was fun to talk about. It's amazing what people will do for money.

Taken minutes after purchasing my Canon EF 50mm 1.2L. And so be it, this picture was taken at f/1.2. Pretty damn sharp for such a shallow DOF.

If it’s made of fabric, you can mend it…yep, even your old underwear! Patch it up and it will last much longer. Mend and make do!

“Posh Bear you do still look a little fragile. I did say don’t have that extra apple juice.”
“I don’t remember that, but if you did, thank you. I should never have tried swinging from the lampshade I suppose. I still can’t understand how I missed the bed with all that marshmallow on it.”
Sky gives an evil chuckle as he remembers the shocked look on Posh bear’s face as he landed on the floor.
“It’s all right Posh, I cleared the marshmallow up for you, so it was all gone before he got back again.”
“Thanks, I think, where did you put it all?”
Sky grins and rubs his stomach.
“Stupid question Posh.” Says Bertie. “You know he is the closest thing in the bear world to a food disposal unit.”
“True, anyway Bertie have you seen the man yet?”
“Yes, we finished our party program at just the right time. He’ll never know, which is probably just as well.”
“He might have some idea Bertie when he sees how much it cost him in man pounds on his card thingy.” Said Sky.
“Sky, I really can’t be doing with the vulgarities of money. Let someone else who enjoys it sort it out.” Chimed in Posh still rubbing his sore head.
“So, more of his silly pictures then I suppose. Look there he is with his picture thingy in hand already. He just can’t leave well alone.” Said Bertie.
“I say, for someone that has just spent all that time being mended, he does look very play-worn. I expected so much more after all the fuss he was making.” Said Sky looking closely at the man as he fixed the camera to the tripod.
“Silly grin time everyone, let us get this over with quickly.” Said Bertie.
“My head hurts when I smile, must remember to take it easier on the apple juice next time.” Said Posh bear.

Just a quick note of thanks to all who sent their good wishes when I last posted. Thank you all and I am now feeling much better, now it is all over. It will take time to fully recover but hopefully I’ll soon be out again with the Sony but in the meantime when outside it has to be the pocket camera. Once again thank you for your kind wishes and thoughts, they really did help and meant a lot to me.

That's the title of this talented sand-sculptor's artwork. It's the winner of this year's competition, sculpted by a young lady from Santa Cruz, California. (Looks like a heart on that spool! I think I would've called it "Broken Heart"... but what do I know... lol) Another super competition.

a Waldorf Astoria Resort, brings extremely talented sculptors from around the world to show what they can do on the largest privately owned beach in Key West, Florida. A fascinating event with sand.
The third International Sand Art Competition attracted over 12,000 people to the largest privately owned beach in Key West at the Casa Marina in November 2016. World renowned sand sculptors competed against each other over Thanksgiving weekend. Musical, theatrical and other entertainment were also presented during the weekend.

Recently in August, I took more sky shots at Golden Ponds and on the same trek, caught this second in the spillway series. Back in July, I parked at Golden Ponds and saw someone walking around the spillway construction area on the first pond and it looked like they made it around the trail. I found the river trail was filled across the bridge over the spillway. Here is that view. This has waited since the 2013 St. Vrain flood but Longmont and Boulder County are self-insured and they need to wait for slack in their general budget to rebuild flood damages. Fortunately, Wall Street didn't get any share at all, unlike their enormous cut into American health care.
My buddy claims high pressure shunted the smoke elsewhere once again. We are continuing early fall with dead clear skies, ongoing record 90s and highs holding Florence in place. It's simply that others got the damage and we got the heat. This week is supposed to be a week of return to nearer (though high) normal. I usually go out wandering when I see that good skies might develop but we've had few of them. This weekend I edited my genealogy work continuously. I edit pix and write descriptions as I can. Here's another. At least the entire loop is open to a walk.
Again, last week, I headed to Golden Ponds and Mac Lake to recheck on the progress of spillway replacement and for good walks. It is finally finished and the walk over the spillway is finally open if not entirely cleaned up. I got outta here a few times each month. I hope to bail more with the final sputterings of summer this year. All the Colorado newbies complain about the downturns with panic warnings. I am panicked about the extensive over-paving and warming of Frogmont.
