January 4, 2019 - New York, New York, - Louis Mendes outside B&H on 34th Street. He's legendary for his street portraits. He's also a bit of an unofficial rite of passage for visiting photographers to photograph while visiting New York.

We went for an adventure and drove along Washington State 20 aka the Northen Cascade Highway. After seeing the most amazing scenery, we came through Marblemount, a town that has been somewhat abandoned. Lots of boarded up buildings and broken fences.

Vandaag rijdt de Westfalendampf een gezelschapstrein vanuit Menden (D) via Bad Bentheim naar Amsterdam. Tot Bad Bentheim werd er gereden met een v200 en die werd daar omgeruild voor de 2 23'ers van de VSM. Na Hengelo wordt er een stop gehouden van een half uur in Almelo om water bij te vullen.

Door de werkzaamheden tussen Apeldoorn en Amersfoort zal deze trein via Zwolle en Harderwijk naar Amsterdam rijden.

Eenmaal bij deze plek aangekomen werd er een tijdje gewacht. Toen gingen opeens allebei de overgangen dicht, er zou dus een trein van recht en links komen! Dat was dus het plaatselijke busvervoer-per-rails. Deze had de gang er genoeg in zitten waardoor de stoomtrein vrij gefotografeerd kon worden.

Hier passeren de 2 heerlijk opgepoetste locs de trein met 12 rijtuigen dus de 3 fotografen bij 'Deurningen' tussen Oldenzaal en Hengelo.

Lopes Mendes, in the top 10 of most beautiful beaches in Brazil, on the island Ilha Grande. It's huge, and the sand is so fine that is squeeks below your feet :)

Mr. Mendes has photographed celebrities Spike Lee, Denzel Washington, Cab Calloway, Tito Puente and Gordon Parks.

Mendes predominantly uses a Graflex Speed Graphic camera (shown in this picture); he has also used a Polaroid Spectra, modified Polaroid 110b, view camera and medium and large format cameras.

Life is a strange and euphoric ride. I photographed Louis 2 years ago in Coney island and I run into him again this time around too, what are the chances...Ive been doing more socializing than fotoing, but today has been the turning point and Ill will be back on the street in union square on thurs, and fri. BTW I have access to darkroom here. wednesday 34th & 9th. 8x10

Two months ago this was the site of a big derailment caused by a dump truck cutting the crossing in front of a loaded coal train.

Today BNSF 8795 rumbles through the curves at the site where some of the coal still remains. Where the first car on the train is located at in this photo is where they cut the rails to rebuild the line after they clean up occurred.

BNSF 8795 leads a loaded UCEX coal train bound for the Rush Island Ameren Power Station on the BNSF Hannibal Sub. at Mp. 61 just north of Foley, Mo.

I took this shot a couple of years ago in Manhattan, I felt at the time that I was being stripped clean, because he was staring straight at me......I just found out he is the infamous Louis Mendes, Manhattan street photographer....he even gets a mention on Wikpedia......I don't!
