the Long-eared owl (Asio otus), a little owl abundant in the UK but not easy to spot in the wild as it hunts at night. There is one place around Bath however where this elusive species could be spotted during the day, the Birds of Prey Project. Bukfenc is a 11 month old white pumi. His name means "somersault" in Hungarian. He's currently looking for a new family, but I would love to adopt him :)
I looked for a photo to match this day and this one fits I think. The weather forecast mentioned only light rain for today, so I decided to ride my bike to work. They were right about the rain, not about the amount though. After five minutes into my way home I looked as if I had taken a shortcut through the lake LOL
(It's fine, after all there's hardly a better excuse for having one or the other hot toddy in the early afternoon 😂 Cheers!)
Back in February I told you about my furry companion Max who died prematurely last November. Well I was introduced to this character in March and although I said I wasn't really looking for another cat I found I couldn't refuse to give him a much needed home. We hit it off straight away and he settled almost immediately . He is 5 years old and is a black & white Manx cat with a little stump for a tail. He came to me just before we went into lockdown. The timing was perfect and we've got to know each other very well as a result. He is very good company and is rarely far from me especially when I'm in the garden.
Here is Leo, Charlie Brown's new little brother. I went to visit him today and take a few photos. This was one of the first photos I took and he was still a bit tired but that changed quickly. More photos of him will follow. In the comments I add one which shows him with his brother, for those who wanted to see them together. :)
AAL was an orphaned Wood Duck who was rescued by a local rehabber and released back into the wild (after being banded). I caught up with him at a local park where he was hanging with a couple of other Wood Ducks and (shown here) chasing after a female Mallard.

Aston-Martin (Asty for short) is one of my two kittens. Together with his sister Bentley they came to live with me and my son last July. They will be 1 year old in April :-).
My son has named them. He loves cars (and cats).
Dozens of hybrids between the Lady (Orchis purpurea) and the Monkey (Orchis simia) orchid species also often called the ‘Lankey’ orchid (Orchis × angusticruris) and in some articles also named ‘Lonkey’. Surprisingly scarce number of parents though. Few Monkey orchids – many passed their prime; and we couldn’t really spot the Lady.
