Key information

The dunnock is a small brown and grey bird. Quiet and unobtrusive, it is often seen on its own, creeping along the edge of a flower bed or near to a bush, moving with a rather nervous, shuffling gait, often flicking its wings as it goes. When two rival males come together they become animated with lots of wing-flicking and loud calling.

What they eat:

Insects, spiders, worms and seeds.

Measurements:

Length:

14 cm

Wingspan:

19-21cm

Weight:

19-24g

Population:

UK breeding:

Where and when to see them

Dunnocks inhabit any well vegetated areas with scrub, brambles and hedges. Look in deciduous woodland, farmland edges, parks and gardens. They keep largely on the ground and often close to cover.

My trusty FABRICLAND measuring tape. I keep this in my bag ~ ya just never know when a quilter/sewer will need one!

Diabetes has changed part of my life into counting everything. How many carbs does it have per serving, how many servings am I having, how high are my blood sugars, how long did I exercise, when did I eat, when do I test. And then I write it down and keep track of it all.

It was noted at 2:23 PM on July 20, 2019 that this Monarch Caterpillar was no longer feeding. Attempts were made to place fresh milkweed in its habitat and gently place it on the leaves to induce feeding. Four attempts were made, but each time it would crawl away, rear up and look around. At that point, I placed the caterpillar in a dark, quiet place.

His measurements at this point remained the same as the previous one taken at 6:36 PM on July 19, 2019, 45mm in length and 25.12mm in girth at 2:23 PM July 20, 2019.

By 9:12 PM, July 20, 2019, it had attached itself to one side of the net screen protector around the little habitat I provided and is now in the "J" position for pupation. It will hang like this for about 24 hours and then begin to form a green pupa or chrysalis. It will take 9-14 days to develop into a Monarch Butterfly! *See this link: www.butterflybushes.com/monarch_metamorphosis.htm and the "J" photo below.

Electric line voltage measurer for wall board

Some time ago I wanted to buy a welding machine to enter (although I already have enough experience) in the blacksmith shop to manufacture mechanical accessories, *robotizable in the future (*sorry, I don't know the english word, by the way design and manufacture robotic things is my true passion) for manual electric tools. But the tension of electric line in Argentina not only is not constant, but it has tendency to the loss; certainly to arrive at 200v is almost a miracle.

For today's challenge I remember this measurer that I never installs, since I could never buy the Inverter Welder that requires constant voltage of 220v exact: today I find myself with the surprise of having an exact and constant voltage of 226v! Is that a signal, or simply a personal desire to keep it that way and be able to begin to realize my dreams? In any case, time will speak.

TIME: “A dimension in which events can be ordered from the past through the present into the future, and also the measure of durations of events and the intervals between them” (from Wikipedia).

Time is so important that people are always measuring it...
