judging people is the worst thing you can do, its like acusing them of something you have no idea about. Get to know someone, because First impressions aren't always the Right ones.

I never meant to cause you any sorrow
I never meant to cause you any pain
I only wanted to one time to see you laughing
I only wanted to see you
Laughing in the purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
Bathing in the purple rain
I never wanted to be your weekend lover
I only wanted to be some kind of friend
Baby, I could never steal you from another
It's such a shame our friendship had to end
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
I only wanted to see you
Underneath the purple rain
Honey, I know, I know
I know times are changing
It's time we all reach out
For something new, that means you too
You say you want a leader
But you can't seem to make up your mind
I think you better close it
And let me guide you to the purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
Purple rain, purple rain
If you know what I'm singing about up here
C'mon, raise your hand
Purple rain, purple rain
I only want to see you
Only want to see you
In the purple rain

Wet weather meant plenty of water running over the dam spillway, creating this nice striped effect. I had a shower cap over the camera to keep it dry - set up, lift the cap, shoot and head for cover from the rain and the spray from the spillway being blown back towards me!

Sacrebleu is an old French profanity, meant as a cry of surprise or anger.
I don't talk to flowers, they talk to me and I gladly listen, with my eyes!
A beautiful Blue Iris, just awakening and unfurling and being hit by light!!!
Sacrebleu, it SCREAMED!!! So very surprised, LOL.
Irises can be very showy.
Hope this makes you smile again, have a good day and thank you for your visit, so very much appreciated, Magda, (*_*)

This was meant to be just a recce as I favour a good sunset (ok we don't seem to get those atm) but the walk from where you park the car is longer then I expected especially when I've been suffering from a bit of a Lyme flare up this week. However for me poppies are enough of a motivation to shake off any aches and pains!!
The light and shadows I think were enough for me to come away with a couple of shots that weren't completely flat but I do favour that golden light
I hope to return before they go over! And summer where are you?

Electrification meant an important speed-up for freights on the Athus Meuse line in the early 2000's. However, a bottleneck was created at Houyet as there wasn't enough room in the tunnel for wires above both tracks. So it became a single line and means that often, there's some waiting to do... As is the case for 32687 from Antwerpen to Athus on 16/12/2020.

Baby, lay on back and relax, kick your pretty feet up on my dash
No need to go nowhere fast, let's enjoy right here where we at
Who knows where this road is supposed to lead
We got nothing but time

This is a location in my home state I've long meant to photograph but had never bothered to try until this day.
Amtrak's ex New Haven Railroad Northeast Corridor mainline slicing through the 'wilds' of rural South County (not an actual county just a colloquial name for this part of the state) is some of the fastest track on their system and also relatively inaccessible an unphotogenic. However the surrounding villages have wonderful charm and I have countless memories cycling the surrounding roads with my Dad and canoeing the Pawcatuck including one humorous episode where we got interesting looks from the employees of the Kenyons Mill in the background when we paddled right through the middle of their factory one day!
As for the factory, it is why I've long wanted to try a shot here. Built in 1844, the mill first produced wool and cotton, and is one of the few historic textile mills in Rhode Island that continues to operate. The facility, which employs about 300 people, currently manufactures, dyes, and finishes fabrics and is owned by Brookwood Industries. brookwoodcompanies.com/finishing/
Amtrak Boston to Washington Acela train 2169 is rifling down Main 1 at about MP 153.9. They are between the Kenyon School Road and Shannock Road overpasses and have just crossed the Pawcatuck River from the town of Richmond into Charlestown. Alas excepting the occasional work train and the very very rare detouring freight moves the only thing you can photograph here are Acelas and ACS64s....which truly is a shame because wouldn't a big freight just look fabulous!?

Virginia Lakes, Mono County, Ca. August, 2020.
Sunset on the Ayrshire coast looking towards the Isle of Arran.
A bit of a change for me on this evening. I left my camera bag and tripod in the car and shot all the nights sunset images on just the 40mm f2 nikon lens.
It was an interesting exercise, not having a tripod to slow me down and made me tryout a lot more compositions.
Also being constrained with the fixed focal length lens meant I had to move around a bit more instead of just using the zoom on the lens.
work was meant for the google+ archive yet i deleted my account there. most of the works were variations of works posted here. now i have over 100 photos ready to post on flcikr.
Jetlag meant I was up at silly-o'clock, and the only place I could find open at this ridiculous time was on the M5 motorway: Gloucester Services Southbound. This was the view of the Painswick Hills at the rear of the modern services-building with its grass-covered roof.
In our dreams we are able to fly… and perhaps this is a reminder of how we were meant to be.

Lighting issues meant I had to take these photos out onto the terrace. I was there with remote shutter release in one hand (I love that thing, I'm only slightly disappointed that I can't seem to operate it with my teeth), black anti-unwanted reflection card in the other hand, ... err dare I say it, kitchen foil tucked into my t-shirt as a kind of reflective bib.... Anyway, as described and somewhat contorted to bring it all together, I had no other way to make the water move in a ripply fashion than to huff and puff. So I did. At some point, I turned around and found myself being carefully observed by five, yes five, local feral cats. I fear the word of my insanity is already around the neighbourhood 😆
Being in the eastern Midwest has always meant Amtrak trains are usually in the dark, if they are on time. Here, in this encore Flickr posted image for "F-unit Friday", we have two F-unit big brothers stopping with the eastbound Lakeshore Limited around 11:30 PM. At some point in 1977-78, problems with the new power caused Amtrak to do a "time machine" move and put older power back into primary use again. This of course, met with approval of the railfans as it put the old machines back into the lead more often than not. And I guess if it kept the trains moving, it should have been good for Amtrak too. Unit 436, a 1952 built E-8A, look's cool in this paint scheme version, although it probably looked even better in it's original Illinois Central paint.
On a sidenote, this is right on the Conrail mainline, former NYC and PC mainline. And we are two years into Conrail doing big time track rebuilding, but notice the eastbound main in the foreground? One can only imagine how it must have looked a few years earlier before Conrail started repairs. So far removed now from the pre-Conrail years, it's sometimes hard to imagine and recall just how bad things really looked around here before 1976.
meant to go somewhere else as Hammersmith Bridge is my neighbour and can be snapped at any time but the colours stopped me in my track

This is meant as a replica of a 16th Century Sultan Bolkiah Mahligai Barge. This ceremonial barge was completed in 1967 to mark the 1,400 anniversary of Nuzul Al-Quran, which is a holiday commemorating the day when the words of the Quran were first revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.

Aberdeenshire Scotland. The distinctive shape of Bennachie is a landmark that’s meant ‘home’ for thousands of years. People have lived in a fort carved into the hill top and in radical farming settlements on its slopes. They’ve quarried its stone to build houses and spun yarns about devils and giants who built its tracks or threw its giant boulders in fits of anger. Bennachie Centre is the perfect place to start exploring this much-loved hill and the forests that surround it. Trails vary from a gentle route though the woodland to demanding treks in open country and in the visitor centre you can find out all about Bennachie’s history and wildlife. The centre is one of four sites around Bennachie each with their own distinctive character and different trails to try. Our guide map of Bennachie shows them all with details of the trails you can follow. scotland.forestry.gov.uk/visit/bennachie-centre
The Prop of Ythsie (pronounced “Icy”) is a striking local landmark which stands on the Hill of Ysthie just east of the village of Tarves. The stone tower is visible from many points in the surrounding area of Formartine, including from parts of the Estate. It was built by the tenantry of Haddo in memory of the 4th Earl of Aberdeen, paying tribute to the extensive improvement works he carried out on the Estate for the local residents. It is still in family ownership, though it is maintained by Aberdeenshire Council for the benefit of its numerous visitors. In years gone by a flag was flown from the top of the Ythsie Tower to herald the beginning of the curling season at the Haddo House Curling Club. haddoestate.com/history/heritage/prop-of-ythsie/
Meant to keep this in color due to multiple light sources (both LED and sodium), but it truly looked weird and not credible in addition to being cheesy. So over-processed B&W it is. And, no, I wasn't stalking couples thru trees w/ a long lens. I waited and waited for a cat or preferably a black dog to show up at that lit patch. I know a black cat hangs out there and there's no shortage of dogs in that park, but it was not to be. Not on that night anyway.
What was meant to be just a test shot to see how my new camera would handle high ISO situations turned out to be the last shot I'd get of the intact Crunden Martin Buildings in Downtown St. Louis.
Just about 4 weeks later, early on the morning of November 28th, 2025 a massive 5 alarm fire broke out at the complex causing catastrophic and irreversible damage to many of the buildings that were still standing of this historic complex of warehouses that stands less than 1,000ft from the grounds of the Gateway Arch. It took around 200 firefighters from the City of St. Louis and surrounding suburbs to control the blaze but by daybreak the extent of the blaze was apparent. Many of the walls of the early 1900s built brick buildings lay in ruin. Bricks from the walls were scattered in smoldering piles of rumble on the streets below and fire fighters reminded on site for days putting out the remaining hotspots. What once stood as a reminder of St. Louis' industrial might at the start of the 20th century lay in ruins.
You don't know what you've got till its gone.

This was meant for yesterday's Ttremendous Tuesday, but I just didn't get to it. But it's just as good for today - December solstice - my hubby's favorite day. Well, I guess his favorite must actually be tomorrow when the days get longer. I am a lover of winter, but sure wish our driveway was smaller!
I had an older version of this with colors I liked more, but that image looked "muddy" so I re-did it. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the color I had before - it was a Pixlr effect that is no longer available - but this is close enough and I guess I prefer a cleaner image to specific tones. I still miss the old Pixlr -sigh. :-)
This was meant to be posted yesterday to celebrate the beginning of the Iditarod, so it's a belated kick off. You won't see this sign anywhere in Texas. By the way, you can tell it was breezy during this photo by the tree movement. Healy, Alaska, USA, November 2021

Sunset at Twin Rocks was meant to be the last stop on the January 22 Coast Trip but when I reached there a couple of hours before sunset, two layers of thick clouds on the horizon made the chance of seeing the sun set behind the rocks seem slim and I headed home. So on the following weekend I was glad to see sunset forecast look extremely favorable for January 30th. Despite the thick clouds that had moved in overhead as I drove to the coast it looked like there'd be a chance to catch the sun below the cloud deck as it set behind the rocks. Pain is meant to wake us up. People try to hide their pain. But they’re wrong. Pain is something to carry, like a radio. You feel your strength in the experience of pain. It’s all in how you carry it. That’s what matters. Pain is a feeling. Your feelings are a part of you. Your own reality. If you feel ashamed of them, and hide them, you’re letting society destroy your reality. You should stand up for your right to feel your pain.”
― Jim Morrison

Russian roulette
I would do it again
And again
And again
Being a gambler
And you the prize
I would bet my life
The ranch
Change countries
Cross the ocean
Learn Russian
And drink vodka
Instead of rum
I would do it again
Without hesitation
Without doubt
Tossing caution to the wind
I would pack my bags
Bring the guitar
Two cats
And hop on a plane
Leaving Trump
And troubles
Far behind
Like buying a lottery ticket
I’d play Russian roulette
Again
And again
And again
If you were the prize
