Came across this cute pair yesterday while strolling on Los Angeles Street in the Fashion District of L.A. A surprisingly busy afternoon! :-))
One from a wander around Sutton Harbour in Plymouth a few weeks ago.
I wasn't expecting much but there was a bit of high cloud which meant a good chance of some colour but in the end, it ended up being a bit dull.
So, I've gone for a bit of split toning with this shot and warmed up the colours a bit.

I meant to post this ages ago but forgot all about it. Found it this morning. Come sail away IMG_1797
She slipped a ragged woollen jumper onto her sweaty body as she left the bedroom for the now chilly Tuscany night. We went down the stairs and into our courtyard, walked by the well, glancing at the last flowers by the wall, before reaching the bathroom in the old stable. We embraced under the steamy flow and I clumsily spluttered a few simple words that meant the world to me. She giggled and scolded me for being so inarticulate. She stepped out of the shower, wrapped a towel around her breasts, paused a few seconds, then turned around with her gentlest smile, and whispered...."yes I do".
This is us.

Stourhead is a 2,650-acre estate at the source of the River Stour in the southwest of Wiltshire, extending into Somerset.
The gardens were laid out between 1741 and 1780 in a classical 18th-century design set around a large lake, achieved by damming a small stream so the lake is artificially created. Following a path around the lake is meant to evoke a journey similar to that of Aeneas's descent in to the underworld.
Lakeside features include the five-arched Palladian Bridge at the eastern extremity of the lake

I'll give you a break from Valencia for a while!
Back to March and my trip up to Skye. I met up with Skyeweasel and although the weather/tides meant Elgol was pretty pointless she was kind enough to show me a few locations I'd not shot before on the Broadford to Elgol road.
I'd seen this old manse house on a map and aerial photo and had it in mind to try to find but Louise took me straight there and we must have spent 90mins at least trying different povs and portrait v Landscape orientations. The snow on the mountains added a different feel. Several areas of rock existed to create leading lines and this was one of them.
Have to say I really enjoyed this location so once again my sincere thanks to Louise for her help and guidance on the day. Check out her channel if you haven't already www.flickr.com/photos/95388056@N02

This is meant to be little a bit of a fun visual puzzle for the Smile on Saturday group today. The theme is Copy Composite with the idea of compositing several exact copies of an image into one.
I thought I would try processing another of my bulb-on-an-iPad images as fodder for this. The original image was taken of a clear lightbulb sitting on an iPad that was displaying a colourful fractal spiral image (created using MidJourney AI). So here we have one image copied into four and then chopped, shifted and flipped, both horizontally and vertically, with a square crop to emphasise the geometry.
I think on reflection (sorry...), given a little more time, I would have placed them a little differently. Next time, perhaps ;)
All a bit of fun and play (at least for me!). I hope there is sufficient complexity to make it interesting.
Thanks for taking the time to look. I hope you enjoy the image. Happy Smile on and 100x :)
I had meant to get up early today and spend sunrise at the bird sanctuary. My reliable furry alarm went off at 6:30 am, but when I saw how cold it was I decided to sleep in instead 😅 There was enough frost and ice left at noon anyway.
"And I meant
Every word I said
When I said that I love you
I meant that I'll love you forever
And I'm gonna keep on loving you
Because it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on loving you
And I meant
Every word I said
When I said that I love you
I meant that I loved you forever
And I'm gonna keep on loving you
Because it's the only thing I wanna do
I don't wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on loving you
I don't wanna sleep
I just wanna keep on loving you"

Fresh morning walk meant I caught some a bit of mist on the water... the autumnal leaves on the floor help create a messy/colourful foreground. I bet it was nice and warm on the boat!
Another shot from the archives and one of my first “Big Glass” shots. Taken in April of 2017 and on my first trip into the woods lugging around my then new 600mm lens…an investment that was years in the making! I had decided to go off trail at Muscatatuck NWR in search of roosting owls. An hour or so in I noted a huge cavity in a large tree…a perfect home for something! I found a spot away from the surrounding stickers and set up to see what might be inside.
The bottom rim of the orifice was well worn, a great indication of activity. I decided to sit for a bit and wait. After twenty minutes or so of keeping an eye on a hole in a tree, I decided I was wasting my day and stood up from my comfortable spot at the base of a large oak tree. Just as I stood and started extending out my monopod leg, something caught my eye flying through the woods. I believe the large tree him me from him perfectly as he threw on the airbrakes and made an emergency landing on a large limb maybe 25-30 yards away.
We both just staired at each other for what felt like an eternity as I feared that as soon as I pointed my lens at him, he would take flight. Surprisingly, he just sat and looked around and at me, as if wondering what the hell I was doing off the popular trail. I took several dozen shots, gave him a nod with my head and thanked him aloud for being so kind. I then walked away at an angle that showed I meant no harm.
Having something that you are searching for come to you is such a gift.

Lootbox is ooooopen! Certainly one of my favourite gacha events, both for great fantasy themes and the gratifying feeling of getting a slew of stuff in a rare. I'm super honoured to be able to show off some of the amazing creators participating officially! If you get a chance, take a run on by! The Dragoness Gacha from Plastik immediately caught my eye, and it looks amazing with the Caster Eyes from Anatomy. You can go try your luck and get some right now even!
If you liked the Breakfast Club, make sure to check out the Clique on the 24th! A neat little devoted event to the pop culture gem will be sure to give you a fresh wave of nostalgia. Pick your stereotype and go nuts! I'm digging the Laria makeup from Zibska that'll be available there, as you can see!
Another new event, the Red Light District, is still around! Vote for your favourite creators and see them featured in the next event! Go check out Bauhaus Movement's latest release, the V is for Vampire top!

I went to the big places, the waterfalls, the peaks, the valleys. They call to me. But sometimes, the shots are where you don't anticipate them to be. This was the campground near Pipestone National Monument. This was on the 4th of July. In 2020 that meant staying away from the shows, the crowds. Here, my daughter was with me. I was shooting the dock and the moonlight. She said, would it be better with a little girl sitting at the end of the dock? Wow. YES! So she ran out and sat there, only to find that she could see the fireworks off in the distance from the dock. So she sat there for a while, watching the show. Great for me. I shot this several ways, I got the exposure of the moon in some frames, but I preferred the big glow and the big color. Enjoy.
Near Jaisalmer, in Rajasthan a sandstone group of centotaphs look like an abandoned city. The windmills make an interesting backdrop. Meant for the royal family of Jaisalmer the construction of these centotaphs started in 1470 and the tradition continued with each generation. An early morning picture.

The Theodore Roosevelt Lake Bridge is a vehicular bridge traversing Theodore Roosevelt Lake between Gila County and Maricopa County, Arizona.[2] Prior to its completion, traffic on Arizona SR 188 traveled directly on top of the Theodore Roosevelt Lake Dam. The bridge's completion relieved traffic over the dam. It had been designed to accommodate the width of two Ford Model-T automobiles, but increasing vehicle widths meant that the dam could only support one-way traffic until the new bridge opened.[3]
Per the United States Bureau of Reclamation, in 1995, along with other bridges such as the Brooklyn Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge, the bridge was listed by the American Consulting Engineers Council as one of the top twelve bridge designs in the United States,[3] and is the "longest two-lane, single-span, steel-arch bridge in North America".[3] The build contract was awarded to Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc. of Plain, Wisconsin,[1] with an overall total cost of $21.3 million USD in 1992.[3] It was initially painted sky blue, but has since turned white.[4]
Steel material for the bridge was originally a part of the Washington Street elevated in Boston, Massachusetts. When the elevated was torn down in 1987, the steel was shipped to Japan and melted into bars, then shipped again as building materials.[5]
This bridge was the beginning or ending of the Apache Trail, a very scenic dirt road all the way to Phoenix depending on which way you were going. It takes several hours to complete. Our monsoons destroyed parts of the trail some years ago and they just got it repaired and reopened it last year. It is a very scenic drive and worth while taking the trip if you love the outdoors in Arizona. It is one of my favorite drives but not for the faint of heart :)
The Apache Trail in Arizona was a stagecoach trail that ran through the Superstition Mountains. It was named the Apache Trail after the Apache Indians who originally used this trail to move through the Superstition Mountains.
The historic Apache Trail linked Apache Junction (33.4152°N 111.5807°W) at the edge of the Greater Phoenix area with Theodore Roosevelt Lake (33.6725°N 111.1531°W), through the Superstition Mountains and the Tonto National Forest.
From Apache Junction heading northeast to Tortilla Flat, the Trail - named The E. Apache Trail (Arizona State Rt 88) at this point - is paved, turning into a dirt road a few miles east of Tortilla Flat, and continuing as such for nearly the full remainder of its length. The section east of Apache Junction is known officially as State Route 88. It is also the main traffic corridor through Apache Junction, turning into Main Street as the road passes into Mesa, and regains the Apache name by becoming Apache Boulevard in Tempe, ending at Mill Avenue. Prior to the completion of the Superstition Freeway in 1992, the Apache Junction portion of the Apache Trail was part of US Highway 60, which was rerouted to the Superstition Freeway once it was completed.
The Trail winds steeply through 40 miles (64 km) of rugged desert mountains, past deep reservoir lakes like Canyon Lake and Apache Lake. The narrow, winding road is unpaved from just east of the town of Tortilla Flat to Roosevelt Dam; there are steep cliff drops and few safety barriers. The trail requires caution when driving and it is not recommended for large RVs, SUVs, or caravans. Some large RV rental companies in the US do not allow their vehicles to be taken on this route.
Fires and floods in 2019 resulted in a massive landslide between the Fish Creek Hill Overlook and Apache Lake Marina.[1] This section of road was closed for repairs, and reopened in September 2024.[2]

Built in 1927, The LeVeque Tower is a 47-story spired Art Deco-style building in Columbus, Ohio. It is 555 feet 6 inches (169.32 m) tall, and was meant to be built exactly one half-foot taller than the Washington Monument in Washington D.C..

Swarowski Crystal Pig. The title means something in that "he" managed to get from his home and under my feet - quite a drop! As I needed to capture a back lit subject he became the obvious choice!
Lighting is all natural which meant I didn't have much time to get a half decent shot. Now I get an idea of what landscape photographers have to deal with.
“Good Morning!" said Bilbo, and he meant it. The sun was shining, and the grass was very green. But Gandalf looked at him from under long bushy eyebrows that stuck out further than the brim of his shady hat.
"What do you mean?" he said. "Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?"
"All of them at once," said Bilbo. "And a very fine morning for a pipe of tobacco out of doors, into the bargain.
...
"Good morning!" he said at last. "We don't want any adventures here, thank you! You might try over The Hill or across The Water." By this he meant that the conversation was at an end.
"What a lot of things you do use Good morning for!" said Gandalf. "Now you mean that you want to get rid of me, and that it won't be good till I move off.”

Back to the Lake District today with another shot of Ashness Bridge.
I posted a shot of this from my first trip to the lakes, but I think I actually prefer this version. It was a moody day which meant the lack of light reduced any harsh shadows on the rocks.
This visit was a lot quieter than my first time there which was in the middle of the school holidays. This time we pretty much had the place to ourselves so we could take a bit longer getting the shots we wanted.
This is quite possibly the most photographed bridge in the Lake District and with views towards Derwent Water and Skiddaw you can see why, it's just stunning.

I did this a while ago and kept it for autumn. The acorns are golden and are meant to be Christmas decorations. I followed a fun tutorial and liked the result
“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”

Spring is here at last
my little bird has flown
he stayed throughout Winter for four long months
but now he is fully grown
I have empty nest syndrome
he was a part of my every day
but yesterday standing by the Willow
I saw that he was not far away
I still watch the screen of the CCTV
waiting for him to roost each night
even though I know he's in the gardens
I am hoping he will nest to my delight
selfish of me I suppose although
it has been difficult to let go
I was privileged to watch this tiny wild creature
for as long as I did and at least I know
that he is happy in my gardens
I saw he met a lovely friend
I imagine them snugly in the ivy
that twines the willow around without end
each evening I stand and listen intently
and wish upon a star for signs
that my little Blue Tit is making plans
to raise a family this Spring Time
my little Robin follows me around
singing loudly and reassuring me
that my little Blue Tit is safe and secure
and life goes on quite naturally
I am heartened by this sweet revelation
and turn my attention to the budding trees
the thick evergreen of the twisting ivy
that will remain again this year for a new family
I heard tell that these little birds
can have up to fourteen tiny babies; I'm learning
and how wonderful it will be to look up at the Willow
and see my little Blue Tit's Family Tree emerging.

‘It was meant to Bee’. There was I peering through the viewfinder and look who just flew in! Well it would be rude not to take his portrait now wouldn’t it! Hope the W/End has been good, Alan:-)……
366 - I’ve decided to do this to force me to pick up a camera other than when we are away on our travels (they will be posted as normal) - I will be interested to see what transpires, they will be varied I’m sure so we’ll see where inspiration takes me over the course of the year, hopefully at the end of it I will be a better photographer. Feel free to critique as you see fit, but please don’t feel obliged, I anticipate they will not be to all tastes. Have a great year and if you also have embarked on a 365 project then good luck in seeing it through, Alan:-)

"Meant To Be"
(with Florida Georgia Line)
[Florida Georgia Line:]
Baby, lay on back and relax
Kick your pretty feet up on my dash
No need to go nowhere fast, let's enjoy right here where we at
Who knows where this road is supposed to lead?
We got nothing but time
As long as you're right here next to me, everything's gonna be alright
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be
Baby, just let it be
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be
Baby, just let it be
So won't you ride with me, ride with me?
See where this thing goes
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be
Baby, if it's meant to be
[Bebe Rexha:]
I don't mean to be so uptight
But my heart's been hurt a couple times by a couple guys that didn't treat me right
I ain't gon' lie, ain't gon' lie
Cause I'm tired of the fake love, show me what you're made of
Boy, make me believe
[Florida Georgia Line:]
Whoa, hold up, girl, don't you know you're beautiful?
And it's easy to see
[Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line:]
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be
Baby, just let it be
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be
Baby, just let it be
So won't you ride with me, ride with me?
See where this thing goes
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be
Baby, if it's meant to be
So c'mon ride with me, ride with me
See where this thing goes
So c'mon ride with me, ride with me
Baby, if it's meant to be
[Bebe Rexha (Florida Georgia Line) {Both}:]
(Maybe we do)
Maybe we don't
(Maybe we will)
{Maybe we won't}
[Bebe Rexha & Florida Georgia Line:]
But if it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be
Baby, just let it be (Sing it, Bebe)
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be (c'mon)
Baby, just let it be (let's go)
So won't you ride with me, ride with me?
See where this thing goes (Come for a ride, baby)
If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be
Baby, if it's meant to be (Yeah)
[Bebe Rexha (Florida Georgia Line) {Both}:]
(If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be)
{Baby, if it's meant to be}
(If it's meant to be, it'll be, it'll be)
{Baby, if it's meant to be}
Hmm
I meant to post this closer to the time that I posted the female. The male has the red feathers that covers the entire crown...Thank you very much for viewing my photo ! I truly appreciate any faves, comments and awards! 🐦
Yesterday I concluded my mini series on warm evening light, commonly known as Golden Hour Light. I thought it would be nice to follow that up with an image that shows a transition from Golden Hour light to Blue hour Light.
Not meant to be a succession of time, as this shot was taken a few days after the previous images,
This is actually looking South West, whereas the sun would be in the North West, but the only warm tones in the sky were here, as the sun's location had completely clouded over.
I really like this one for the calmness I saw in the scene and presence of the last sliver of warmth in the sky, that would soon be taken over by clouds and darkness.
Whether this would be considered golden Hour light or Blue Hour light, does not matter in the least. To me the mix of cool and warm light is what makes the light special.
When you said forever, you meant a few months. When I said forever, I meant every day until I died. When you said always, you meant until you couldn't handle it anymore. When I said always, I meant until time ended. When you said you loved me, you meant I was no different from any other girl. When I said I loved you, I meant I had never felt what I felt for YOU !
